We planned to stay 2 nights at Monte Libano and were lucky to get the room on the tree, that is - to be honest - extraordinarily nice! From there you have a perfect view to the ocean and you can hear the sound of the waves while falling asleep. The room and the community areas were very clean. There were hammocks on the first floor that are perfect for relaxing a bit. The beach is just in front of Monte Libano, and if you want to go grab something to eat or have a drink at night it's just about 5 minutes walking to the area of the beach were you find a lot of bars and restaurants.||||I especially want to mention the kindness of the hosts of the hostel. In the morning when we actually wanted to leave Monte Libano to get to our next stop, my husband had a herniated disc. He was not able to move any more, not even to get up from the bed alone. We already thought we would loose our flight (that was going the next day), but the whole family helped us to make my husband feel better. They found a doctor for us and even brought us there with their own private car, they went with us to the pharmacy to help us translate to get the things we needed and they lended us a bandage for hisback, that helped him a lot because it was stabilizing the back. They also arranged a room for us in their hostel for one more night spontaneously, because my husband was told to relax as much as possible for his herniated disc to get better. In the end, they even brought us some lunch, because they knew my husband was not able to move or to go anywhere, not even to the kitchen, because of the pain he felt. The next day we had to catch our flight to get back home, and because my husband was not able to go with a bus (because it would have been too bumpy for his back), they arranged for us a private taxi, so my husband could kind of lay down during the way from Puerto Lopez to the airport. I really can't describe how thankful we are! All family members were very nice and helpful, and tried to help us as much as possible. Without their help my husband wouldn't have recovered that fast to be able to finally catch the flight. This family really consists of very nice and friendly people, that creates a very welcoming atmosphere at the hostel. I would definitely recommend to go there! The hostel and the location is really nice, but the family owning the hostel is amazingly kind...
Read moreI can honestly say that I have never stayed anywhere quite like this before!||What a fun building! This hotel seems to have originally been single storey, but had bamboo extensions in all directions, up and out.||We atayed in a family room with sea view, and it was brilliant, the place is right on the beach, at the far end of the mallecon (beyond the bridge) in a really quiet part of town, but close enough to walk to all the restaurants. ||We took up the offer of breakfast, and are glad we did, we had crepes and fruit every morning, they were both filling and delicious - the perfect start to the day.||The only reason I have given this review 4 rather than 5, is the sheer quantity of insects in the room. There is a certain rustic charm to the haphazard way the place is put together, but all toe gaps in walls and window frames certainly allow a lot of bugs into the room (the mosquito nets do keep it all out however). And upon check in at night were greeted to what appeared to be all 1 million of Ecuador's species of insect, as the light was on, and all windows open!||The service here is incredibly friendly, and you get the feeling that nothing is too much bother, as though you are being welcomed into a friends home, Maria, the owner even arranged a trip for us to see the boobies of isla de La plata at a cheaper rate than usual!||I would gladly stay again, should I return to...
Read moreMy stay here made my vacation so wonderful! I stayed in the tree house and it was a perfect little adventure, very clean and comfortable, no issues at all! The hosts were very accommodating, letting me store my stuff and use the common area facilities (bathrooms, kitchen, hammocks) when I arrived very early in the morning and was departing late at night. Even though they don’t speak english and my Spanish is very limited we got through it. They were VERY KIND, always interested in how my day went, I returned one day and they were having a family celebration, which they invited me to join and eat cake with. They have a few dogs that stay on the property who are all very sweet! They bark occasionally, but not out of the ordinary for any dog.||||They are at the end of town which made it very quiet in the evening when you were trying to sleep, didn’t have to listen to all the loud music being played by the beach bars. It was a 5-10 minute walk to all the main restaurants, but it was 1 minute from the pier! Excellent location. ||||Would definitely stay here again if I ever returned. ||||Make sure you go whale watching if you visit...
