We stayed here for 3 nights with 2 little kids. When we first arrived on day one we felt that the hotel was abit sketchy and we're thinking about changing. Rooms were massive and very comfortable. But this is a very decent family run hotel and staff will promptly take care of your needs. It kinda grew on us.
Pros: Rooftop pool is awesome. Rooms are huge with big balcony. Beautiful mornings with sunrise view and birds chirping. Can also see hot air balloons in the morning. We paid 50EGP from ferry station to hotel to local taxi. Do not pay more. Hotel can arrange for day trips if needed. There aren't much good food outlets on west bank. Food at thebes is decent
Cons: There is no breakfast spread at all. They basically serve you some cheese, bread, beverage, cake slices and call it a day. So that was a big bummer. Bathroom although big, dosent have a bidet and larger shower area. Lift was a bit scary.
Tips: Shop below hotel had chips, cold drinks etc. You can get basic stuff here.
Ferry costs on 5egp per person, do not pay more.
If you are a bigger group just pay 50egp to any private ferry guy and he will drop to east bank.
Lot of places will cheat you so you can take reference for prices from hotel menu.
If you like hukkah then it is available here at very reasonable rate.
Place is kid friendly and will...
Read moreI'd recommend this family owned hotel for anyone wanting to escape from the busy East bank of Luxor.
It's a bit of a drive (only one bridge between the two sides) but to me, it's worth it. The father and sons run the place and are so wonderfully helpful and interactive.
They take great pride in their business and are remodeling (they showed us two of the new rooms and oh my god, I will be coming back to stay in them). The hotel has two pools; one on the ground floor and one on the roof. There are two restaurant areas and the kitchen is open between 6a and 9p every day. Egypt is breadcentric so not a great place for those with gluten intolerance/allergy; make sure you request accomodations or just less bread (you get two baskets!). It also hosts a massage parlor so pool and massage after a day of walking is a great way to unwind.
I do want to state that if you are looking for nightlife, this is the wrong side of the river. This is a farm/residential area and as such, closes down pretty early.
However, it IS close to Valley of The Kings, Hatshepsut 's temple, the statues of Mnemnon and the generations old alabaster craftsman shops. Come here to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle...
Read moreThebes Hotel lived up to our expectations. We wanted a place that had a feeling of home away from home and we got it in Thebes. The cleanliness was what sold us a hundred percent, from the reception area to the rooms, everything was impeccable. The food was also fresh and custom made to our liking. Maybe what needed to be added was more variety to the breakfast menu. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. By the 5th day we felt right at home with everyone around. However, the best part of Thebes must be the owner, Mr. Mohamed. You will not find a more helpful, more kind entrepreneur. His hands on approach, his presence and altruistic nature endeared us to the place. Mr. Mohamed not only took time to help us with our itinerary, advising us on places to visit and the most suitable time, he also dropped us to the Felucca for our boat ride from the West Bank to the East Bank whenever we needed to cross over, all these at no extra cost. The creme de la creme; the swimming pool after a hot morning to soothe our sun kissed bodies while having a spectacular view of the valley. Thebes made our trip to Luxor the more memorable . I would not hesitate to stay here on my next...
