We stayed at the Cleopatra Luxury Beach Resort Makadi Bay from May 30 to June 8, 2025. We chose this hotel expecting a peaceful and comfortable Adults-Only 5-star luxury experience with good food, high service quality and a relaxing atmosphere. Some of these expectations were met – many, unfortunately, were not.||First the positives: The resort enjoys a truly beautiful location directly on the bay. The beach is wide, the water crystal clear, and the grounds are spacious, green and well-maintained. There are multiple pools, a large spa with massage offerings, two main restaurants, several bars, and a dedicated Adults-Only section. Walking paths are wide, well-lit even at night, and accessible via ramps and elevators where needed – ideal for leisurely strolls during cooler morning or evening hours.||A highlight of our trip was the “Extra Divers” dive center, which is professionally run, exceptionally well organised, and offers access to a spectacular house reef and top-tier dive sites nearby. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced diver, this facility is a real asset to the resort.||Another strength is the staff. Without exception, the employees were courteous, warm, helpful and consistently trying their best to make guests feel welcome. From reception to housekeeping, from restaurant staff to beach bar – this team deserves real credit. The resort owes much of its atmosphere and service level to their commitment.||Now to the critical points: Despite its branding as a “Luxury Resort”, the hotel does not live up to that standard in several key areas. Our room (Adults-Only section, 1210) was clearly in need of renovation. Fixtures were loose, the showerhead and taps showed heavy calcification, mirror fittings were unstable, and door seals were visibly worn. The air conditioning was loud even on its lowest setting, and the entrance door lacked sound insulation – we were regularly disturbed by noise from other guests or the dive center’s cylinder handling starting before 9:00 a.m.||Furniture was visibly scuffed, the lamp shades dusty and slightly stained, the water kettle heavily worn with residue inside. Upon arrival, the water for brushing teeth was missing, the provided cup appeared used, and slippers were not available – although these were later supplied after we informed reception.||The “Waterfront” Adults-Only restaurant disappointed in both atmosphere and food offering. Many indoor chairs were worn and cracked, and some outdoor seating was dirty or neglected. While there was plenty of food, the variety over time was limited. Several meat dishes repeated with little variation, and lighter options were rare. Although there were vegetarian and some vegan dishes, they were inconsistently labeled – in fact, labeling of food in general was often unclear or entirely absent. This is a serious issue for allergy sufferers.||At the live cooking station, pans were only wiped down, not cleaned, between different types of dishes – even when seafood or shellfish was involved. While we understand this is not unique to this hotel, it remains a questionable practice in any establishment claiming luxury standards.||By contrast, the main buffet restaurant (not Adults-Only) was noticeably better: more variety, clearer signage, fresher presentation. Dessert offerings were generous and visually appealing, and themed dinners brought some welcome change.||Another major issue was noise. Despite the Adults-Only promise, peace and quiet were rare. Loud music from the hotel’s own beach bar and from neighbouring resorts filled the bay almost constantly. Depending on wind direction, we could hear karaoke shows and entertainment programs from over a kilometre away – clearly enough to sing along. Even high-end noise cancelling headphones couldn’t block it out. The only way to mask it inside the room was using the noisy air conditioner.||One detail particularly undermined the luxury claim: All-Inclusive guests had to wear sealed wristbands that cannot be removed without scissors. These plastic bands quickly became dirty and uncomfortable, and must be worn while sleeping, swimming and showering. In an upscale adults-only resort, this felt more like a mass-market club hotel than a refined environment. Elegant alternatives exist – and would be expected at this price level and positioning.||Drink presentation was also subpar for a “luxury” setting. Cold beverages at the beach were served in worn, opaque plastic cups – practical perhaps, but unappealing in feel and appearance. Hot drinks like coffee were only available in disposable paper cups. This gives the impression of a takeaway counter, not a beach bar at a premium resort.||On sustainability: While sealed bottled water is essential for hygiene in Egypt, it was disappointing that the hotel seemed to rely entirely on plastic bottles. Though bins were plentiful, some bottles ended up in the sand and were easily swept away by wind. A truly high-end resort might be expected to invest in a water filtration and refillable glass bottle system. Other luxury hotels in Egypt partially do offer this – and it would align better with both guest expectations and environmental responsibility.||In summary: Cleopatra Luxury Beach Resort may officially qualify as a 5-star hotel by Egyptian standards – but based on the hotel’s own branding and pricing, it does not deliver the luxury experience it promises. The infrastructure is outdated in parts, the gastronomy inconsistent, and the noise level far too high for a relaxing adults-only holiday.||If we rated this hotel solely on the physical experience, we would have given it 2.5 to 3 stars. Thanks to the wonderful staff and the excellent dive center, we decided on a generous 4 stars. There is potential here – but it requires investment, honest branding and commitment to detail to truly earn the...

Luxury??? I don’t know about luxury… this resort was average, while the actual rooms were very nice with a great view, I will never come back here. First of all the food was okay it was no luxury flies were everywhere I didn’t want to touch the food. I had a horrible experience with the staff I was coming to this resort as a birthday trip with family and friends and boy was I disappointed…

First of all the staff had many incidents were they were harassing us I was so uncomfortable my first day not even an hour in the one of the male staff at the restaurant kept asking me questions about where I’m from and telling me he likes my dress on me and when I ignored him HE WENT TO TALK TO MY LITTLE SISTER WHO IS ONLY 14 years old and flirting with her in a language she barely speaks and she was very uncomfortable and upset and this wasn’t the only time. At the pool another staff member approached my sister again a minor who can be easily identified by her minor bracelet or even how innocent she looks and a man came up to her telling her how beautiful she is and how he is the happiest man in the world to serve her and kept standing next her making her upset and uncomfortable. SHE IS JUST A KID!!!

Another issue was we tried to book the “A la carte” restaurant for my birthday party and the hostess said no I won’t be able to accommodate her because it’s not her birthday yet and continued to argue with my family who tried to surprise me and she was so rude and ruined all the vibes of the trip.

Another issue lack of entertainment, nothing to do except swim in water or pool which I got strep from… and all I am hearing is the hotel resort next door loud and music having fun and wishing that I could leave and go there. The club had maybe 5 people standing and boring music. Another thing was the oriental dances maybe I am being picky, but I feel like a cultural dance should be done by someone of that culture… so if I am in Egypt I should see an Egyptian perform and as an Egyptian woman seeing a woman of a different culture dance and showcase my culture was almost humiliating and felt like cultural appropriation and I understand that’s her job and this had nothing to do with the girl, but all on management and whoever planned these so called “events”.

The ATV rides… don’t fall for them… I was soo excited to do it the guy seemed nice and accommodated us and then when we got there and began to ride after telling us children are okay to ride and we will have two tour guides, we only had one tour guide who got frustrated with “our pace” and he took us back before starting and didn’t even give us a full refund.. what a scam…

I will say I enjoyed the Doctor fish experience it was the only thing I didn’t hate and the girls working were very sweet and pleasant!! I wanted to stay as long as possible.

I tried to book a spa treatment or massage and they told me $300, I don’t even spend that in America… please be serious

This place as a whole was not worth half the price… luxury is not something found at this place and i don’t recommend this for anyone looking for a luxury experience, however I will say the rooms were very clean and the set up and view from the resort were nice but again not luxury. Oh and any of the alcoholic drinks had nooo...

I stayed at this hotel for a few nights, and my experience was absolutely enjoyable. The hotel boasts an excellent location in a quiet area, with a sense of serenity and tranquillity. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk out of the hotel and reach Hurghada's popular attractions in minutes, then return to the hotel's peaceful and private atmosphere.|This is not the first time I have stayed at this hotel, From the moment I arrived, the reception team was exceptional. Check-in was quick and friendly; the staff greeted me warmly and helped me with my luggage. I would like to especially thank Mr. Hossam, Mr. Anwar, and Mr. Mustafa, the hotel manager, who made the check-in process easy for us.|The room itself was one of the highlights. It was spotless, stylish, and thoughtfully arranged soft lighting, comfortable seating, and little touches like high-quality toiletries and a well-stocked minibar. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the linens felt luxurious. I also appreciated the clever layout that made the room feel spacious. The view from my window added to the experience morning lights start to the day.|Housekeeping was reliable and discreet; my room was refreshed daily and everything felt fresh and well-cared-for. Small things mattered extra towels delivered quickly, slippers and bathrobes neatly arranged, and little welcome treats that made me smile.|The food and drinks were excellent in every aspect. Breakfast included a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, as well as fresh fruit, pastries, and eggs cooked to order. Each dish was well presented and freshly prepared. The poolside snacks and coffee were delicious for a light meal. The desserts were delicious and varied, and I especially like the world-class chef, Mohammed, who presented new, delicious dishes every day. As for the other dishes, they were wonderful, such as the salads and their variety. I would like to thank Chef Essam for this wonderful selection. I would also like to thank Chef Tamer, Chef Ahmed Saeed, and chef Al-Saudi, Chef Eissa, as they provided us with everything we could have hoped for and more.|The service in the main restaurant was great, the staff were very friendly, I would like to thank the restaurant manager Mr. Sherif as he organized my son's birthday party, and it was great.|The hotel’s public areas are beautiful and comfortable the lobby is elegant without feeling pretentious, and the pool and lounge areas are perfect for relaxing.|What truly stood out was the staff’s genuine hospitality. From reception to restaurant to housekeeping, everyone seemed happy to help and took pride in making guests feel at home. That personal touch turned a very good stay into a memorable one.|In short: great location, warm and efficient reception, a beautifully appointed and comfortable room, and delicious food. I left feeling relaxed and well looked-after I’d happily return, and I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable, high-quality stay with excellent service.|This hotel offers all the luxury you could ever imagine. You'll never go hungry, as food and drink are available 24 hours a day.|Finally, I would like to thank the hotel management for their attention to every detail of guest comfort. It is noticeable that the hotel is progressing...

Very nice hotel with many advantages and some smaller flaws but to be honest they will be adressed as well at the end. We stayed in mid January 2021 for 6 nights. Due to COVID there were very few tourists - in my opinion maybe 20-30 rooms were occupied in complex of over 550 rooms! For us it was terrific - calm atmosphere, almost nobody at pools and on the beach, few tables occupied at meals. Perfect for safe relaxation during COVID. Area is huge and very nice for walks or jogging - there is ever 2.5 km jogging route in the gardens. Gardens - wow - this is strongest advantage - there are simply prostine, very diverse and beautifully maintained. Great!. There are 5 or 6 pools - big, great and even when no people with crystal clear waters, one of them is heated. There were only 3 restaurants opened due so low ocupation - main for breakfast nad Italian for dinner. Lunch was served in pool bar. Food during breakfast and lunch was ok, not great but always you find something interesting and tasty. Dinner were much better - due to COVID there was no buffet so you could pick up from usually 5 dishes served to table. And they were delicious, as well as deserts. Staff was very friendly and helpfull almost everytime (see exceptions at the end). Rooms were spacious with balconies (some are huge almost 40m2), nice bathroom, everything clean. Beds were big but for us much too soft - we have back pain in every morning. There is a long and very nice hotel beach with a lot of sun loungers and wind screens. Water in January was not so fine - approx 20C. But for me the most important thing was to relax during snorkeling. Althouh reef in area is almost destoryed however still there is plenty of sea life nearby. The best in my opinion is at the end and right side of the platform at neighour hotel Stella Di Mare Beach Resort. I reccomend to swim also to the left to pier near Cleopatra Resort. I've spent almost 7 hours snorkeling and it was very nice and relaxing time - fishes were colourful and may different spiecies, spotted even some stingrays. Overall there was very pleasant and nice stay, but at the end some point to improve according to us: - there is no 'luxury' (as in the name) feel at the hotel (for example I heve never seen waiter at the pool or beach proposing drinks/snaks/fruits - even when they had nothing to do - there were maybe max. 5-10 people at the beach/pool) - some infrastructure is outdated and needs to be renovated - it definatelly doesn't look luxurious (lobby cellings, loose tiles on tarraces near lobby, many sunbeds and wind screens and umbrellas, etc...) - sometimes hygiene was not so good - imagine during breakfast when staff put cheese on your plate with hands or french fries during lunch at pool bar - in gloves, but still - this is 5 star 'luxury' hotel... - we changed the room after first night (when we waited for covid test results) and there were approx 500 (!) rooms free and we got one with pool view instead of sea view - after few minutes when we insisted on change we were redirected to proper one but still disgust reamined. Overall 4 on 5 stars for me - in my opinion big inspirations with not enough supervision from managment, but despite this - it's nice hotel.

Where to start?... It was our 5th time in egypt, the first time in this hotel. And the first time we want to return to a hotel. On arrival check-in went smooth, luggage brought to our rooms. As we arrived in the morning the room was not ready yet, so we first had some lunch. We were family of 5 and had a family room. One word: Amazing! The room was spacious, clean, enough beds and towels and storage space. And not to forget what a view! It was great to wake up and see the sea. Safe and small fridge were in the room as well as coffee and tea facilities and a complimentary bottle of water. There are enough pools, 4 in total, one relaxing adult only pool, one family pool, one heated pool and one 'adventure pool'. What was amazing is that there were always sunbeds available as wel as umbrellas! Towels were easy to get and to change, and always with a smile even until 6pm when the pool closed. There was a waiter going round at the pool, convenient for ordering drinks. We used the heated pool, which was 28 degrees, the other pools were 22 degrees. Also not too much hassling by people trying to sell you excursions or massages. You can ask for a red flag at the towel station, so they won't disturb you at all. Beach was nice, enough sunbeds available, watershoes could be a plus, water is shallow. And a nice pier to walk on. We took our food at the beach, serviced at the table, with a good choice, portions were quite small but one can order twice. And several options were possible. There was also ice cream available till 5pm. Drinks were good, especially the Mojito. In the evening the food was also very nice, there was a dedicated seating area for families with kids, for disabled people, for adults and it was also possible to sit outside. Drinks could be ordered with the waiters. Again we were surprised, no fight for a seat, there were always enough seats available. For what concerned the food, buffet was great with a good level of variety and really tasty, also for the kids. And always enough. What is a plus for families with smaller kids, there is a family seating area with normal sized seats for adults and a kids table next to it, so that one can have a decent seat as an adult. Same for breakfast, always enough seating and plenty of good options. Fresh orange juice was available for 2 euros for a large glass. Animation team was great and friendly, although we prefer to just sit and have a chat in the evening there was always something organised. Also they were very friendly to the kids. Checkout also went very smoothly. We will definitely return. Thank you for the amazing holiday.
