In short: Food 3/5 Drinks 1/5 Hotel Complex and Activities 5/5 Staff 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Internet 1/5
Summary: Hotel complex and staff are amazing. I never have been treated that well by hotel staff. Food is mediocre. Some dishes are less rounded than others. Desserts are amazing though. Alcohol is not good. Not the highest culinary, but this generally cannot be expected in all inclusive hotels. Else it's a safe and clean place with lots of stuff to do. Staff speaks more German than English, 95 % of guests were German speaking. Kids were here to a tolerable amount. WiFi terrible.
The positives: I fully agree to other reviews that staff is amazing and service extraordinary. They is a high attention to detail and staff tries everything to ensure 100% satisfaction. Drinks are even served to the sunbed and if you don't find a free one, they'll bring an extra one without asking.
Hotel complex and rooms are amazing! It is very clean and spacious and has a private beach. The place is generally not crowded even though we came right before Easter. Various activities are offered free of charge, such as: volleyball, tennis courts, billard, table kicker/tennis, kids' club, indoor gym and many more. Worth pointing out is the included waterpark, with an astonishing amount of water slides (almost too many for one day).
The less positives: There are many restaurants, where you must reserve for dinner (except for the main buffet). In our case, only two reservations were available for the whole week. You can also dine around in restaurants outside, but also all full. The main restaurant hosts a sophisticated buffet for three meals a day. The beach restaurant is much better. Since Egypt is a Muslim country, no pork is served, which means no breakfast bacon.
The variety of food served is big. The following review is centered around the main buffet restaurant. Beach restaurant is impeccable.
Breakfast: -Available coffee is only Nescafe. -Bread is decent. -The selection of cheeses is poor. All quite similar in plain taste and a plastic-ish texture. -Great selection of cakes, but some of them overbaked, which is especially a pity for the cinnamon rolls. -Omlette station is good and other eggs served are 10 min eggs and unseasoned poached eggs. -Sausages generally not great. -Fresh fruit and salads are good.
Lunch/Dinner: A broad selection of dishes with varying quality. Everybody will find something nice but nothing mind-blowing.
-Fish dishes generally good but the signs only indicate 'fish' which makes it hard to tell what you eat. Seafood offer rather limited. -Salads often rather oily but there is a great selection. -They have a grill station, where twice chicken was served. Both times the chicken was red inside, which is a health hazard and gave me - presumably - stomach ache. We had to give it back. Staff took us seriously but it still happened again the next time. -Meat is centered around veal and lamb, few chicken options.
Drinks: -One choice each of beer and red/white/rose wine. White and rose wines are not good (sour and a uneven bouquet). Red wine is okay, beer is so so. -Cocktails: Every time you order, it tastes different. Gin&Tonic tastes like rum. Mojito tastes like spiritus, not sweet, had basil instead of mint. -Booze: Utilized liquors are local brands and for international spirits, 19€ per shot are charged.
Food/Drinks: Given the situation of being in Egypt, with a 400% import tax on alcohol and the general hardship in importing food due to foreign currency shortages, most of this is very understandable and shouldn't be understood as a critique of this hotel per se.
Internet: -WiFi speed is low with around 2 Mbit/s -Phone disconnects every 1 to 30 Min and it is very hard to reconnect. Have to try multiple times every time. -Internet log-in broke down for one day -Had to buy...
Read moreI had the pleasure of staying at Iberotel Makadi Beach recently, and I cannot begin to express how exceptional my experience was from start to finish! From the moment I stepped into the resort until the day I departed, the service was impeccable and the staff went above and beyond to make my stay truly memorable.
First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Hassan at the front desk. His warm smile, genuine care, and professionalism immediately put me at ease. He ensured the check-in process was smooth and seamless, answering all my queries with great patience. Hassan's knowledge about the resort and the surrounding area was impressive, and he provided excellent recommendations for activities and dining options, which made my vacation all the more enjoyable.
Additionally, I must commend Hossam Saad, the Assistant Front Office Manager, for his outstanding leadership and dedication to ensuring the utmost guest satisfaction. Hossam's attention to detail and commitment to excellence were evident throughout my stay. He took the time to personally greet me and inquire about my experience, making me feel like a valued guest.
The resort itself is a tropical paradise, boasting breathtaking views and pristine beaches. The accommodations were spacious, well-appointed, and maintained with utmost care. The various dining options available were superb, with a diverse array of cuisines that catered to all tastes. I especially loved the beachfront restaurant, where I indulged in delectable dishes while enjoying the soothing sound of waves.
The resort's activities and entertainment offerings were fantastic, ensuring there was never a dull moment during my stay. Whether it was snorkeling, beach volleyball, or the lively evening shows, there was always something enjoyable to do.
Furthermore, the entire staff at Iberotel Makadi Beach were exceptionally courteous, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. The personalized service and warm greetings from the cleaning staff to the restaurant servers made me feel like I was among friends.
In conclusion, my experience at Iberotel Makadi Beach exceeded all expectations, thanks in large part to the exceptional individuals like Hassan and Hossam Saad who make this resort truly shine. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone seeking a luxurious, relaxing, and enjoyable getaway in a stunning location with a team of exceptional staff who go the extra mile to ensure an unforgettable stay.
Thank you, Iberotel Makadi Beach, for creating cherished memories that will stay with me for a lifetime. I am already counting down the days until...
Read moreIt took me some time to get used to the resort and the new environment. Most of the guests here are older Germans. The accommodation has an Arabic style and is well maintained, but some things need improvement — for example, the shower cabin is terrible, the air conditioner is too noisy, and there’s no space for an extra bed. And please, add a few more power outlets in the room. It's unreal that there aren’t even sockets on both sides of the bed — there’s literally nowhere to plug in a phone charger. This definitely isn’t the level of quality I’m used to in Turkish resorts, but I eventually got used to it.
The beach has a lot of coral, so it’s great for snorkeling, and the pools are quite decent too. The staff is friendly and helpful, but it takes some time to get used to the Egyptian mentality — they tend to engage with guests a bit too closely. I was bothered by the fact that several staff members openly asked for tips, so I eventually started giving them daily. Make sure to bring small change for tipping. I think they’re generally good people; you just need to adapt to them. I have to compliment the staff supervisor whom I saw once at the pool bar and once by the pool — it’s clear he’s in charge. He’s perfectly attentive and notices everything.
The sunbeds at the pool are excellent, and I really like the easily adjustable umbrellas. A good thing is that you get one towel per person, so people can't reserve multiple sunbeds. But please try to prevent people from reserving sunbeds with bags, shirts, and other belongings.
Looking at the pictures of the resort, I thought the aqua park was part of it, but actually you have to take a minibus for about 5–10 minutes. The aqua park has a lot of slides, but I didn’t like it — everything felt kind of low-level, including the food and drink options there. The ground is extremely hot, and they don’t allow you to go on the slides wearing flip-flops, which is a big downside.
The food at the main restaurant is quite decent, but the food options at the pool and beach are very limited. In the last few days, I finally started enjoying the vacation after a period of adjustment. I’d probably come back since I now know what to expect, but it’s not the same level of quality I experienced in top...
