Service - 1/5 Where do I begin….. me and my partner stayed here for 10 days and boy was it hell. Every day the service was beyond bad. Waiters and bar staff would take 20 minutes minimum to get you drinks when the bar was empty. Most of the time they spent talking to eachother and on many occasions didn’t even know how to make the drink that was on the Menu….When seated at the dining table they would take so long to bring us drinks that we would be finished with our meals. Bear in mind they were just waters and the occasional Pepsi. Sometimes I would end up getting my water myself. It seemed like if you didn’t tip them they wouldn’t give you top notch service. If I’m paying for a 5 star resort I would have expected top notch treatment. As I’ve been to others in the past this wasn’t 5 star treatment at all. I wouldn’t even give it 3 stars. It was only on our last full day when we had complained did they actually show us care and treat us well. Ironically once we mentioned about doing a bad review they made sure to give us special treatment, which by that point it was too late.
Food/drinks - 1/5 Don’t get me started on this… aside getting a stomach bug from the food. The quality itself was bad. Options were basic and tasteless. Most days we ended up getting the same meals as the other options were really bad. The mid day snack was decent, a burger or pizza. By the second day we got bored of having it. The grill man outside was very friendly I will say and he provided the best food out of the whole place. The breakfast was beyond bad… eggs were undercooked and the fresh fruit wasn’t really fresh. By the 4th day I would just have two boiled eggs, a waffle and melons. Other options were bad.
The drinks… boy boy boy. Me and my partner are not drinkers usually but we like the occasional cocktail especially on holiday but these were definitely the worst cocktails I’ve ever had. What made it worse was after every drink they would say “special” but it was the same old soda water, with non fresh juice mix every day. It came to the point where we ended up just having water, Pepsi and slushy/rum as those were the best options. I should have learnt from my first night as I asked for a Pina Colada and Ahmed made me just pineapple juice with coconut water…. He and others at the bar couldn’t make nice cocktails at all… by the 3rd day we didn’t order from the upstairs in door bar because of that. BOTH Ahmeds were rude and just constantly making bad drinks and seemed unbothered. Bear in mind we’re not high maintenance at all and I’ve never written a review as I’m usually happy and not someone to complain. I mentioned earlier about a lot of the staff not knowing how to make drinks on their menu.. it’s like going into a restaurant, ordering food and the chef saying “we don’t know how to make that”. Never experienced that in my life. The only Pro with this was Mohammed at the beach bar, who was so lovely and friendly so I have give him a shout out as every drink he made us was nice (Slushy and fizzies) and he was always friendly and lovely to speak too!
Location - 2/5 Wasn’t the best or the worst. Didn’t have restaurants or bars nearby. You could get a taxi to pretty much anywhere with ease provided by the hotel. It was just hard given we never liked the food or drinks so felt isolated with what we had. Soho square was a 5-10 minute drive and the other towns were 15 minutes. The beach as part of the resort was lovely. Me and my girlfriend went there usually in the day as they had coral to do some snorkeling. As we’re not Sandy people we never chilled at the beach but would walk over from the main pool, which wasn’t far at all.
Room quality - 3/5 Nice, spacious and clean. Furniture was dated but could be worse. The mini fridge wasn’t included although you expect that to be part of the package. The drainage system was pretty bad. Every time you use the shower it would take a while for the water to go down the drain. We never used the tap water just down to experience but everything else was nice and we...
Read moreWow where do I begin. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, I wouldn’t call it a 5 star, or even a 4 star. Me and my partner spent 10 days here and we couldn’t wait to leave. When looking for hotels we were sucked in by all the 5 star reviews on trip advisor and google. From staying there it’s obvious that most of these 5 star review are from the animation team forcing guests to write 5 star reviews as the team have a quota to hit. It’s a shame as the hotel itself is beautiful, but there are many things letting it down.
Let me start with the pros: Again the hotel itself is beautiful, the furniture in the bedrooms were a little dated but the rooms are clean and spacious. The Gardens and grounds are lovely and very well maintained. The life guards are very friendly and you often see them helping tidying cups and helping people with sun beds. The cleaners were very good, and cleaned the rooms very well everyday. The beach was very lovely. Some of the animation team were friendly, enjoyed the aqua gym that they ran. Joyya and Ester brought great energy. Special shout out to the lady waitress that would serve outside and Mohammed, the barman at the Beach bar.
Now the cons: I’ve never had such bad service in what they call a “5 star” hotel and I’ve stayed in many all around the world. I’ve even had better service in 4 stars and 3 stars. Unless you tip the staff straight away, you do not exist to them. Considering how much you pay to stay in a 5 star, I would expect 5 star service from the get go, then I might consider tipping (Which we did for very few of the staff that actaully provided good service). Most of the bar staff and restaurant staff are rude and not friendly. Especially at the lobby bar staff, 5 star rudeness from both the Ahmed’s at the lobby bar. Leading onto this the drinks were rubbish. Even just the juices were awful and very artificial, nothing was fresh. They had a drinks menu and most of the bar staff didn’t even know how to make the drinks on the menu. It would also take a very very long time to get drinks. You could be the only one at the bar and it would take 20 to 30 mins to get your drink. They would be doing other tasks or just chatting to eachother. The food was absolutely awful. Me and my partner aren’t very picky eaters but the food was so horrible. It also gave us a stomach bug which lasted about a week. It got to the point that we weren’t excited to eat and having to eat similar things everyday. Also the restaurant staff were very slow and not good at making sure the restaurant was maintained. They would not ask us for our drinks, we would have to flag them down, and even after ordering we would be waiting for ages. So much so that we would finish our meal everytime before even receiving our drinks, or never receiving them at all. Also the tables were always never set or cleaned. You would have to ask for cutlery at the table, which as you guessed would take forever. One of the days I had to complain to the restaurant manager as I had enough. The minibar was not included in the all inclusive which is very weird for a 5 star. Our mini fridge wasn’t working anyway. The drainage in the shower and sink were quite poor.
When we were leaving they provided a form for us to fill out about our stay. I tick bad for most of the sections and the reception staff got the hotel manager to come and speak to us. The hotel manager did apologise which we appreciated but we shouldn’t have to tell you what is expected from a 5 star hotel. He tried to make our last few hours of our stay better by getting the chef to cook us something special.
Me and my partner aren’t people that would usually complain or are hard to impress, but this was a really horrible stay for us. Please don’t waste your time or money staying here. Would not...
Read moreWe stayed at the Jaz Belvedere Hotel for 15 days in January, and overall, we had a pleasant experience. The hotel boasts a beautiful and spacious garden, with well-planted flowers and trees. The swimming pool and beach areas are also clean and enjoyable. The service from the staff at the bar next to the pool and in the restaurants was commendable. Although it could get quite busy during mealtimes, leading to some forgetfulness regarding our orders, we found that sticking with one waiter improved the situation significantly. He was able to remember our orders without us needing to ask or repeat them. Additionally, some of the cooks in the restaurant were friendly and accommodating.
However, we did encounter a few issues during our stay. One significant problem was with our room. We were given a family room with single beds, despite having informed the hotel that we were traveling with a baby. The staff attempted to make a double bed by pushing two single beds together, but this setup was unstable and posed a risk of our baby falling between the beds. We kindly requested a room with a proper double bed, but after three days of waiting for availability, we were discouraged. The alternative rooms offered were either located far from the main areas of the hotel or difficult to access with a baby stroller.
Another concern was the cleanliness of our room. We noticed that our bedding had not been changed after a week, and there were stains on the blankets and pillow covers. When we asked the cleaning staff to change our bedding, they only changed the bedding in the baby cot, not ours. After several requests to the receptionist, we felt that our concerns were not being adequately addressed. It wasn't until I made a formal complaint in person on Day 12 that we finally received attention from the guest relations team, who promptly requested that the housekeeper change our bedding. They sincerely apologized for the oversight and offered us three apples as a gesture of goodwill.
Additionally, we observed that the animator team seemed to lack enthusiasm for their roles. During our stay, only two of them made an effort to greet us and it was on our last 2 days of staying there, while the rest appeared to walk around with unhappy and unfriendly expressions. Their lack of engagement detracted from the overall atmosphere of the hotel.
In general, the room itself needs significant renovation. The furniture is aging, and the overall cleanliness could be improved. We also provided feedback directly to the chef regarding the need for more traditional Egyptian dishes, as the international options were underwhelming. However, the fresh seafood from the grill station was consistently impressive.
One final note: the quality of the alcoholic drinks, particularly the whiskey, was disappointing.
Overall, while there were some challenges during our stay, the beautiful surroundings and friendly service made for a...
