The Panoramic View Hotel is first class. The owner and staff are there to do everything possible to make your stay welcoming and comfortable starting with free airport pick up to organizing tours. They offer a view better then the most “famous” place in Lalibela with free coffee ceremonies and tej/local honey wine. The many balcony’s really do offer the best views in Lalibela for sunrise or sunset. Don’t miss the food we tried both the dinner buffet and a la carte menus and each one was great. Breakfast buffet is also included in the stay which is a nice bonus. Best food we had in Lalibela. Sammy the restaurant manager was very nice by accommodating any of our special requests and making sure our food was prepared to perfection. Panoramic View restaurant prepares their food hygienically which was a nice relief in this city of limited options. They provide both traditional Ethiopian dishes and western/Asian style meals so it fits every taste. If you are looking for a hotel with the complete package, that is truly generous for the price then stay at Panoramic View you won’t be...
Read moreThe view from the hotel is amazing. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are nice. The staff is very kind. Abel took great care of us at reception and Mareg was a very kind/good server at the restaurant. ||The hotel found us an excellent guide to the churches whose name is Telake Tesfaw. He is very knowledgeable and took great care of us. He knows the church history and culture very well. We felt in great hands with Telake for our entire trip. He picked us up at the airport and got us to the hotel. He let us have our personal time but was always ready on time to take us on tours. He then took us back to the airport too. Our driver was Gashow and he took care of us too. They had a bottle of water for us when we arrived and his van was very clean and well maintained. ||The churches are amazing and a lifetime memory! King Lalibella told the story of the Bible through the churches and you can see where Jesus said , “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except...

The place has a great mountain/landscape view, however so are so many other hotels in the area.
The food was great and the kitchen staff as well as the shuttle drivers and cleaning staff are amazing.
The negatives are definitely the managing staff, lack enthusiasm for a place that thrives on tourism. I visited Lalibela multiple times and despite the currency exchange giving foreigners a big advantage, the constant effort to gouge tourist on everything convinced me to not return to this hotel in the future.
Pay as you go and don’t let a balance accumulate until checkout. We were told complimentary shuttle service from and to the airport, however during checkout the guy manning the desk gave us two options, pay a private taxi costing upwards of 500 or pay the hotel shuttle 200. Again, the cost is not much but reliability is a necessity.
Another example is coffee being sold for 20 when right outside you can buy it for 5 and help local communities that...
