Honey Land Hotel Lalibela — Hotel in Amhara Region

We stayed in this hotel during beginning of April, 2022. It was the only hotel who responded our call inquiring about availability of rooms. Me and my colleague had great time staying in this hotel and we were the only guests staying at that time. It is located in such a perfect place that you can see the whole Lalibela and far to the skyline from the room. At night, you can graze the sky from your room and enjoy the beauty of our universe. The room was so neat and clean.

The owner of the hotel came every morning and evening to see if we are doing OK. Since the whole area is severely affected (economically) due COVID-19 and then the conflict but this hotel is trying to stand still and serve the guests whoever come. There is no electricity and tap water in the area from last 8 months. They run the generator for 2 hours in the evening from the fuel transported personally from 30 KM far. There are serving with the water brought in a tanker from 25 KM far. But still they are doing everything possible to make their guests happy. You can see almost all the hotels, either small or big, are closed. We felt so grateful that this hotel is still trying to serve and survive.

Since the hotel is not continuously running but they try to make you requirements are met. They try to prepare foods of your choice and you feel like you are staying at home. There are few staff at hotel and they are really so kind. Owner of the hotel is also very kind and always there to support you. This is a clean, comfortable hotel near the churches and center of Lalibela. The friendly, helpful staff made the stay extra special.

Guest rooms have private, modern bathrooms. The hotel has hot water and electricity 24/7, despite a few short electric outages. Internet was just ok, but that is as good as can be expected in this area. Each room also has a TV but most channels are Arabic.

The restaurant has tasty food at reasonable prices. Food was available whenever we asked, and room service is available as well. There is a small shop at the hotel selling snacks, cold drinks, and souvenirs at the same price as we found outside.
