This review concerns the room in the annex, a separate building with its own entrance, see photo. The rooms in the main building may be a wholly different experience.||We chose this room because it has cooking possibilities (a small stove, a microwave, a fridge, dishes and cutlery). It also happens to be the only room that allows pets, although we did not have one. The room was of adequate size and there was enough cupboard and shelf space. For some reason, the safe was high up on top of the cupboard! Unfortunately we did not sleep well, as the beds were not very comfortable and the room was warm and stuffy, without proper AC. Internet quality was poor, at least during our stay. Is the router too far away, in the main building?||The room is on the ground floor and faces a gray inner courtyard and parking place, so not much charm there. Nonetheless it was fairly quiet.||We found the staff friendly. The variety of foods at breakfast was quite exceptional. One tip, though: could you keep the ham/sausage and the cheeses in separate dishes, with separate forks? ||The hotel is a handsome, historical building conveniently located across the road to the calm railway station area. It is a short walking distance from the...
Read moreI initially booked Hotel Vallonia - they got in touch with me and told me that they would be closed for the weekend after midsummer - they offered to book a stay at hotel Astor for me, to the initially agreed upon price. Check-in went well, parking costs 5€ per 24 hours for the Theater Parking Garage the Hotel is cooperating with. The beds are comfy, the pillows are too soft for my liking (brought my own, so wasn't an issue). Towels and soap / body wash are included. The rotary phone is not actually a rotary phone. Air cooler available (not an AC). Lots of stuff for breakfast, but signage could be better (mention whether there is lactose in it or not). The bar menu lists plenty of drinks and also food, but when I tried to order meatballs at 23:30 on my arrival day, I got told that the restaurant is closed (the restaurant/bar is open until 0:30 every day and the menu doesn't say anything about closing time for the food portion of the bar / restaurant). I ordered an aperol spritz which took 10 minutes to make....
Read moreGreat location right opposite the railway station and city center around the corner. Such a cute room with a massive bed and a clean bathroom. My friend had a bigger room with its own sauna and that was lovely! Breakfast room is beautifully decorated with old furniture and fresh flowers on each table. I found everything I love for breakfast! Great variety! Also had lunch, the crab toast was huge and delicious! |Only negative things were that my room in 4th floor was quite chilly in the night. The radiator was warm and working, as was the hot air pump installed on the wall. Yet it was cold and the floors were cold, too. Shower had very poor water pressure which I find annoying. However my friend’s room in 2ng floor had good pressure. Staff was friendly and attentive. Someone recommended this hotel to me and I am happy to...
