We stayed a week here, and there was a lot to like but just as many equally disappointing factors. To start with the positves. I'ts a great ski in and ski out location, right on a blue ski run. The ski locker room is super handy, and there are washrooms, a laundry (coin operated), and a washroom all located on the ground floor. The SPAR supermarket is well stocked and located just a few mins away. The Telebus Gondola is also just a few mins walk and takes you into the centre. What really rubbed me the wrong way was that this accommodation was sold as a prestige residence, with a fully stocked kitchenette. The reality is different! The linens are cheap and ill-fitting. The pillows were awful, and there was only 1 duvet, which was very heavy. After 2 nights of miserable sleep, we had to pull the duvet out and just sleep with the duvet cover. There was not a throw or additional blanket provided at all. There is a towel pack provided per person/ per stay, which includes 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, and bath mat. I used the pool and Hammam (** an awful experience where I was locked in and had to go outside in sub zero temperature in my swimmers and flag someone down to get the hotel to unlock me. Could have been avoided if there were some basic instructions or signs) but back to the towels... tough luck if you want to use pool and spa facilities or have kids. You only get 1 towel for 7 nights and can't even pay for a extra.!! To add to this stingy lack of hospitality, you are given only 1 roll of toilet paper and no handsoap. So if you get in late and need to wash your hands before getting a chance to go to the shops. Tough luck!! The cleaning pack provided has a stingy amount of diswashing liquid, 1 chux cloth, and sponge. There is not even a tea towel provided to dry your dishes!! Again this is just miserably stingy and quite inhospitable The kitchen itself had a few bits and pieces so you can make do, but there were no tongs, and no small to medium saucepan , or salt and pepper. Just some basics like these would have been helpful. Also very disappointing was the whole inventory check prior to check out. This is a little bizarre and was not well explained and ultimately just added insult to injury as we had had to empty the prior guests' dishes. It also makes you wonder about the level of sanitation if guests are responsible for cleaning. A lot of this could maybe be mitigated if guests were better informed before arrival. A few small changes to their offering could also make this place feel " Prestige" as it advertises, but at the moment, there are some real problems with their "hospitality "...
Read moreStayed at the Front de Neige for a week in March 2024 with my wife and 2 kids aged 13 & 8. I've stayed in a number of resorts in the French Alps and been disappointed in the accommodation on a number of occasions, mainly due to the cleanliness. Booked through Crystal Ski again this year and headed back to La Plagne. I normally book the more reasonably priced self-catering accommodation, I don't hold great expectations but do expect the apartment to be clean. I'm quick to write negative reviews as most are but on this occasion, it's positive. I look for accommodation that is reasonably priced given it's literally a bed for the night whilst skiing. I was pleasantly surprised by the Front de Neige. On arrival, 2230 on the Saturday night reception was still staffed by a pleasant employee who spoke good English, provided us with keys, directions, WiFi codes and additional bedding for the double sofa bed. On going to the appartment, it was a decent size, bedroom was a good size with a double bed, living area / kitchen was a fair size as well and the apartment was clean and well stocked with kitchen utensils, crockery etc which was also clean. WiFi was good, decent signal and allowed 4 gadgets to be connected at any time. Ski room is basic but the lockers housed 4 sets of skis and poles, no boots but there was room to sit those on the floor near the apartment door. Room was warm with controllable radiator heating. Storage space was ample for clothes etc, hanging space for ski wear could have been better but not the worst I've had. We cooked most meal times but ordered takeaway pizza n wedges a couple of nights from the restaurant for dinner, reasonably priced at 36 euros for 2 pizzas n 2 portions of wedges, pizza was very good. Location is excellent, adjacent to a gentle blue piste and 2 minutes ski from the ski school meeting point, it is ski in / out. If you are looking for 4* luxury accommodation this may not be for you, if you are looking for a reasonably priced ski holiday with good clean reasonably sized apartments, friendly staff in an excellent location, well worth considering. The first ski holiday I've been on where I would seriously consider returning to the same apartments!...
Read moreJust back from a fantastic week’s skiing in La Plagne. We found the apartments to be clean, spacious, warm and cosy. We had everything we needed for our holiday. We booked a 1 bed apartment (slept 4 but we travelled as party of 2) and the bedroom had comfy beds, warm duvets and plenty of storage. We asked for some extra pillows and the reception staff provided them immediately. |There was a TV but had very limited English speaking channels, not that we had time to watch it!!|Free WiFi throughout the complex is great.|You get a very basic cleaning pack on arrival but we had packed a few tea towels and a small bottle of washing up liquid that were useful. |The kitchen facilities were brilliant, even a dishwasher - we have never seen such a well equipped kitchen in any holiday accommodation, everything you could need was provided, even a Nespresso coffee machine which was fantastic!!|You only get 1 bin bag and 1 toilet roll though, but you can easily buy extra at the local Spar, less than 5 min walk away.|There is no chamber-maid service so you have to take your rubbish out, but the bins are just at the far side of the car park and easy to get to.|The location is second to none with door step skiing. The locker in the boot room was large enough for 2 sets of skies, boots and poles, but not sure if it would be big enough for 4 sets of each though.|The staff were always polite and helpful, on duty 24/7.|La Plagne has a huge ski area and at times was very busy, especially in the afternoons, but we always got out on the slopes early to make the most of the morning snow. |As a resort it has something for everyone and is very laid back. |We didn’t try the restaurant as it was fully booked anytime we tried, you would need to book a few nights in advance.|The pool was nice and we didn’t find it too cold (like other reviewers) but you do have to book the other facilities, again which book up quickly.|Plan to return next year as we...
