Hôtel Résidence Le Lys Cauterets — Hotel in Argelès-Gazost

Staed here for one night on transit through the Pyrenees ad used as a base for walking in Pont d'Espagne. Hotel is super easy to find (has a huge illuminated sign on the side). Parking is not dedicated, public, and insecure, opposite the hotel. We did not have difficuly finding a space, but it might be tight at peak times.||||Hotel reception was excellent and helpful. The room was clean, basic, and functional (we were in a hotel room, rather than an appartment room), but is in serious need of a refresh. We were on the top (8th) floor, so it was quiet! Breakfast was plentiful, and good for this standard of hotel. Overall this was a "functional" stay, and the hotel is fine if you are intending to use it just as a base for sleeping. 3 star hotel. Great location. Free parking all round if you can find a space. Lovely view. ||Place is very worn. Carpet in room looks very old and dirty. Shower is hand held so not great to use. Towels you rent (quite expensive) very thin. Laundry services consist of one washing machine no dryer. Not at all like is advertised. Yes there is an ironing board. Clothes hanger in room but no pegs so no good if windy. ||Coffee filter no good unless you have filters. ||Place needs a refurb. ||WiFi hot and miss. Not high speed at all. Hôtel choisi parce qu'il offrait un "centre de bien être" avec jacuzzi, sauna et hammam. 11€ par personne pour 50min jacuzzi+ sauna ou jacuzzi+hammam, ce n'est pas donné quand on sait que l'accès 2h aux Thermes "les bains du Rocher" coûte18€ et donne accès à bien plus et dans un beau cadre. L'argument de vente est que le spa est privatisé une fois réservé. Le point de vente pour nous est que le spa est ouvert jusqu'à 23h alors que les thermes ferment à 19h30. Nous décidons donc de réserver. En fait de spa, une grande pièce froide en sous-sol avec un jacuzzi tellement chloré que la vapeur pique les yeux mais surtout à peine tiède, à 36 degrés, et un hammam qui n'est pas assez chaud non plus ( la vapeur d'eau est diffusée seulement par intermittence et la température retombe tres vite- les bancs en carrelages froids n'aident pas). Le tout est très désagréable et décevant. Mon mari est monté prévenir la réception que le jacuzzi n'était pas chaud. Le réceptionniste était incapable de régler le problème (il aurait suffit de savoir comment débloquer la température), nous a informé que le technicien n'était plus là mais qu'il verrait ce qu'il pouvait faire s'il avait le temps (il était 21h30 et il n'y avait pas foule...)... Visiblement il n'a pas eu le temps car il n'est jms redescendu. Et nous avons fini par sortir avant les 50min. Bref, une arnaque! Chambre vieillotte (comme le reste de l'hôtel), sans aucun charme, mais propre. Litterie trop dure par contre. En résume nous avons très largement préféré notre séjour l'an dernier à l'hôtel du lion d'or qui offre plus de confort et bien plus de charme...
