TLDR: This hotel isn’t worth the headache. Stay at another hotel in Paris.||We are loyal to Marriott and Bonvoy members but this experience seriously made me reconsider the entire brand. That’s how awful it was. ||We booked our hotel months before going to Paris. We were going to stay just a few nights before going to Disneyland and then onward to Switzerland. I booked it even though it’s outside of Paris and about a 35 min taxi. I still booked it specifically because they offered a Family Room suite option-two bedrooms (one with a king bed and one with twin beds). Along with the breakfast included and close to public transit, I figured it was a good option at a reasonable price. ||We arrived and were told that the hotel booked our room to another group. They tried to book us at another non-Marriott property further from Paris and a brand I’ve never heard of. Their family rooms were also not comparable because they were all one room with a bed and sofa couch-not two separate bedrooms. The receptionist then said they could book us in two adjacent rooms with two twin beds in each. Rooms did not connect which was super inconvenient for a family with two small kids and is NOT what I booked months ago and paid for.||The receptionist then told us she would check in with a manager about a partial refund and try to move us to a family room a following night.||The next day, their entire computer system was down so they were checking people in manually. At one point, 30 people and their luggage were waiting at reception and no one was at the desks-not a staff person in sight! Of course no one to help us change rooms.||When we checked out, another staff person told us that our room was not booked to another group and was vehement that the first receptionist was wrong/poorly trained/new but then couldn’t explain to me why we weren’t given the family room we booked months in advance and prepaid for. Totally miscommunication and a mess-poorly managed hotel and not at all in line with the Marriott brand. They need to close for a few days and figure it out or get new management. Only bright spot here was the breakfast staff who were courteous and efficient-keeping the breakfast items well-stocked. Food at breakfast was plentiful and delicious. ||There was no consistency from day to day with staff and no communication between staff. As we were waiting to be checked in, I could see a family room available for booking on the Bonvoy App for the same dates we were staying so maybe they are purposefully misleading people (especially families and groups) to book here while knowing there are not family rooms for them. And because the hotel is far from Paris, you are sort of stuck and can’t just go to another hotel once you get there. ||We have not been offered any partial refund for our stay. I was told at check-in that the manager would be contacting us for a partial refund and then at check-out, we were given a business card and told to email the manager-unacceptable. I expect a lot better from Marriott and this was by far the worst Marriott property we have stayed in (having used them on vacation numerous times before...
Read moreDespite asking that washcloths be put in our room each day we had to ask for them each night. One day there were none available. On third day this occurred again & I went & had a chat with desk clerk. He said they were locked up by evening & nothing to be done. I disagreed & somehow it was managed. Next evening none in room, but when I went down there was a stack of my usual request of towels/washcloths. The rooms - we booked a suite, were actually 2 adjoining rooms (par for Marriott). Neither room had a chest of drawer. They expect you to live out of suitcase. 1 little shelf in closet. Website indicated a washer/dryer. It lied. They said they were happy to do our laundry (I'm sure for 5 euros per underwear & 3 for socks). Mini fridges only slightly chilled & no way to adjust. No 2 tier Wi-Fi - simply 7MBS in lobby & rooms. My T-Mobile (allegedly 5G was spotty throughout Paris). Hotel caters to tour groups. Breakfast was overrun with them as was the elevator. Speaking of elevators, only one worked the 5 days we were there. We tried to take the stairs. You can't get to the lobby, only the outside via an alarmed exit door on way down & no way to go up. Water in one of the rooms sinks was SCALDING. Other room's was fine. Toilet paper not restocked most days, again despite telling them repeatedly. There is a nice foosball table in the courtyard, but no ball available.
Booked a prepaid stay including the breakfast. Turns out that as a Titanium Elite that would have been free. Since it was prepaid they refused to credit it. Seems this could have been stated somewhere on either the hotel website or Marriott's (Hilton's does). Got a bit of help from corp. Marriott. Hotel gave me a voucher for 18 Euros for this to the bar (which was never open) or the mini-store where a coke was 3 or 4 euros. Regarding breakfast, the 2 ladies who had to clear & restock did an admirable job The food was very good & replenished continually. If you stay & if you want the breakfast, go with the continental. Eggs were terrible, bacon okay if you like tepid and greasy, and sausage looked awful. I ordered an omelet one day & it was awful. Continental part was fabulous.
Hotel mgmt. made aware of all issues via email; 'Sorry' & a few points. If this review dissuades just 1 person - & I suspect it will dissuade a bit more, they will have lost more then they made on the breakfast ripoff. But hey, there is always the next tour group horde!
