The Chambertines (Bed & Breakfast) — Hotel in Beaune

We stayed at Les Chambertines for 6 nights and were able to truly relax here and explore the beautiful village and region in which it is placed. Margaret, our host, is an intelligent and fun person who offers a warm welcome and is skilled at ensuring her guests have a wonderful stay. The breakfast provided was deliciously fresh and inviting and a good way to start the day.The B & B is beautifully decorated and has a charming garden. Our room, on the ground floor, was spacious , comfortable and well appointed. The property was centrally located with a short walking distance to restaurants, vineyards, tourist office, wine caves and sights of interest. This is a wonderful area in which to bicycle or hike. Also nearby were stops for the reliable, local buses heading to surrounding villages and towns. We did not have a car and managed with walking., public transport and guided tours from Dijon but a car here is advantageous to make the most of what the area offers. We stayed here for three nights. The room we were in was enormous, with a fantastic walk-in shower. All the fixtures and fittings were top quality too. The only thing missing was air conditioning - though if you follow the owner's advice about keeping the blinds shut during the day and the windows open at night then the heat during the night was a bit less.||||The lady who runs the place (who's originally from Scotland but has lived in France for years) is full of energy and has lots to tell you, but she's very nice and genuinely helpful. She gave us some good advice about little pootling bicycle routes (from which we were able to put together a big pootling route!)||||The little village the place is in has a few things going on, including some reasonable restaurants. And you're not far from Dijon in the car for huge amounts more choice.||||Would...

This has to be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Not because the rooms are large and spacious. Not because the decor is tasteful and perfect. Not because the property is ideally located. Not because the breakfasts are amazing. Not because the property begins to feel like home in a day.||||But because of a super star called Margaret. She is just amazing. She knows where you must dine. And where you must wine. And what you must do. And where you must go. And she makes it all look terribly easy. And has the personality of a star!||||So you are warned - Margaret can make a Burgundy visit incredibly...
