Came here with a school trip and stayed 3 nights. Had quite a few issues while staying. I’ll give a list: ||- air conditioner didn’t work at all. It just blew air around. You’d think if you set a thermostat in your room to 5C it would be cold, but not here. Couldn’t even dry my clothes that I hand washed and hung up for 10 hours. There were also zero fans available here. TIP: You gotta take an ice cold shower for minimum 5 minutes right before you go to sleep and don’t use covers to stay cool here in the summer months. ||- A light in our room wasn’t working, where it would make a consistent buzz and actually cause the other lights connected to it to flash on and off. We feared an electrical fire could start. There are multiple lamps controlled by the same switch, and our lamp in the corner of the room failed to turn on and we would experience the symptoms previously mentioned. We just refused to use any more lighting than the small lamps next to our bed. ||- The shower had questionable stains across the whole shower. Yellow stains on the bottom and dark mold stains up near the top. Not very safe. (A not clean shower grosses me out to no end so this was a shock to me) ||- You don’t get a balcony here. If you wanted to go outside to cool down, you couldn’t. As I was on a school trip with curfews, it’s hard to get out of the hot room without having trouble with those in charge of the trip.||- Elevators were inconsistent and honestly scary. We had a student get stuck in one and put our whole trip behind schedule. They would randomly fall out of service or take quite a long time to go up and down. Not good when you have 14+ floors in your hotel. I would recommend staying on a lower floor. ||- Wall paper behind our beds was a little scary? It was a dark forest where the trees had no leaves and had red glowing rings around the trees. Not exactly calming or inviting.||- 3 person rooms were not any larger than 2 person rooms. Had some students staying in groups of 3, and the rooms they stayed didn’t have any larger room than a room for two twin beds. They just had a king bed and a twin shoved into a room that was too small for it. ||Overall, not the quality I would expect from a hotel stay near Paris. Honestly made Paris appear as the worst city on our tour of Europe and that was disappointing. I wouldn’t stay here unless you can sleep warm, aren’t grossed out from random stains, and aren’t staying with more than 1 other person. Good budget hotel if it costed less than what we paid for it. ||Some pluses:||- shower worked hot and hold||- Toilet was in a separate room than the shower room||- Beds were decently comfortable minus the temperature ||- breakfast offered was ok||- staff never appeared rude to me||- no bugs found in my room, but some were found in others on my tour trip||- There was a window, a small one for how long the curtain was (it was less than half the size of the full curtain on the wall??)||- was able to accommodate our busses for...
Read moreA WARNING FOR ALL. I don't think I have ever written a bad review and find it hard to do so. I am sure there are a lot of good people working there. It's a shame that I have to write this. I will start with the positive first. For the price we paid and the hotel itself, I would give it a 5-star rating as a cheap option in Paris.
My wife, our two little girls, and I had a 5-night stay. On the second night, we ran out of nappies, so I went to the shops around 9 to get some. At 9:20 pm, I messaged my wife that I would be 30 minutes. At 9:30 pm, my wife was in bed with our two girls, and she had locked the door from the inside. Then the door unlocked, and someone entered the room. She saw the light entering the room, and a few moments later, the door closed. There is a small walkway, and didn't know if the person was still in the room or not. Turns out they left.
I got back at 9:45 pm, and my wife told me what had happened. Since there were cameras outside the door, my wife went to the lobby to find out what happened, but they didn't care about the incident. They didn't even try to explain. She asked for someone to look at the cameras, and they told her to go back to the room and that they would check. By 11 pm, there was no update, so I went down and faced the same thing. They couldn't check the cameras until the next day they told me. After causing a bit of a scene, they asked me to wait, and they said they would figure out what to do. I was expecting them to have someone check the cameras, change our room, or ask the staff if anyone had entered our room. Instead, it was close to 12 am when I saw the manager trying to leave. I chased them down, and she told me not to worry about it. They would check the cameras in the morning.
If it were earlier, I would have taken my family to another hotel. However, it was the middle of the night by then. I found a good way to block the door with the pram, and I came up with a better way on the second night and continued to for the rest of the stay.
The next day, I followed up on the incident, and they acted as if they didn't know what I was talking about. I started to think maybe they didn't want to tell us who had entered the room. By the third day, we finally found out that it was a routine staff check at 9:30 pm!?
I would not stay at this Novotel again. We understand mistakes can happen but lack of understanding regarding someone walking into your room at night without any answers is unacceptable. There was a manager the next day who was nice and seemed to clear things up a...
Read moreUnimpressed is how I'd sum up my stay.
I had made a reservation at the hotel for a room with two beds. When I checked-in my the room type was not available and I was upgraded to a bigger room but it had one bed and a pull out sofa that was beat up and concave. I made the reservation for two people and was hoping that we would both be able to sleep in separate beds comfortably. The pull out was nowhere near comfortable unless your spine was shaped like a banana perhaps.
This upgraded room also came with a shower that did not work properly. I was unable to turn the temperature knob and had to resolve to taking a cold shower in the evening.
A visiting friend of mine who speaks French called the reception on my behalf to explain the situation. He was dismissed with "There are lots of people staying at the hotel so there's no hot water." Is this hotel on a third-world property? I had him call back to tell them that the mechanism wasn't working properly and personnel was sent to our room. We were told that yes it wasn't working properly but there isn't anyone to fix the issue so we would have to wait until the morning. I had an event to attend to so I showered in cold water unhappily.
The morning came and no one came to the room to fix our shower nor was there a phone call to even follow up about the inconvenience we experienced.
We decided to stay an extra night but wanted a different room in which there was a working shower. Abdallah found us a room on the same floor, in the same room category for around the same price. He was the most helpful out of all the staff and took time to really listen to our needs even with our language differences.
Overall, I'm disappointed with the hotel and the experience of my stay there. I understand that there are cultural differences and yet service recovery was not to my standard since there really wasn't any at all. I can't imagine not being compensated in some manner for a room without a properly working shower. I was able to get an extra drink ticket that comes with my Silver status as an Accor member after asking for it for my inconvenience that I experienced the first night.
Outside of my experience, there is.a very small gym, bar, and restaurant on site. The hotel is located very conveniently to many things including a metro shopping mall, plenty of restaurants, and the like all within walking area. The best part about this hotel is the location but there are plenty of other...
