We stayed here for one night en-route from the Italian Alps to Meintz in Germany and as it was near the World Heritage site of Neuf-Brisach we thought we would stay here so that we could take a look around.||We left Italy (Champoluc) at 9:15am and after stopping for lunch in Switzerland, for about an hour, we got to Le Caballin at about 4pm.||The outside of the hotel is a bit scruffy and right next to a large weir (this time of year doesn't help either as Spring has not yet sprung). After checking in, we thought we were walking into a hostel as the bare passage ways and staircase don't do it justice.||However once inside the room (room 25) it was lovely. Newly refurbished with wood flooring new shower room with large shower and frosted glass sliding door. Big triple French windows overlooking a small lake.||The large room was completely re-furbished with light wood panelling, large LED TV, modern lighting and a desk, chair plus two armchairs and coffee table. The Windows also had an electronic shutter.||The room had a King Size bed with lovely white bed linen.||I would think in the Summer the area will be buzzing and completely different. The room also had air conditioning although we didn't need it in March.||Good value and 5 star room, plenty of car parking and the hotel also has a restaurant although we...
Read moreOriginally booked with Booking.com. Along with 20 other hotels for accommodation on a cycling holiday. We were notified our booking was cancelled a few days before our visit. An issue with credit card details. We immediately contacted them to resolve this. Told to ring back next day when we reconfirmed or booking and assured a room was available. We arrived wet and tired to be told our booking was cancelled and no rooms available. Eventually put on the telephone with the “boss”. Customer service clearly did not translate into French. We were told we could not have been told we had booked on the phone because they don’t do that. I pointed out that we were hardly likely to cycle all that way to a hotel if we were told there was no room. Some amends made by a kind receptionist who found another hotel and drove us and our bikes there. |My suggestion is that you avoid this hotel like the plague. They really do not deserve your custom. |Alternatively if you enjoy being called a liar want to risk your booking being cancelled then this is the place for you.|I should add that we have stayed at hundreds of hotels throughout Europe with booking.com and never had a problem. As I said,...
Read moreOn arrival we had a hint of what our stay was going to be like as the receptionist was outside smoking a cigarette and not behind the desk where she should have been .Unfortunately this was the most expensive hotel and the worst. I paid extra for a room with a balcony but you would not want to sit out on it as it was filthy covered in bird mess ,cobwebs with flies everywhere. Although the bedroom was massive it obviously had not been updated for years and one of my pet hates is mouldy showers and bathrooms. I refused to eat here and pay the extra for breakfast as it should have been included in the price in my view. Awful place do not go here you will be...
