This is probably the most terrible hotel we have ever been. This hotel in no way deserves a 4-star rating. One BIG disappointment. ||People who read my reviews on Tripadvisor, know that my wife and I travel a lot, both private as for business. And we have been from simple hotels to the finest leading hotels in the world, and all over the world. Hotels, restaurants, airlines, etc. ||We booked this particular hotel on our way back from Spain to the Netherlands. ||When we arrived at the hotel there was no hotel parking space, where it was written that the hotel can accommodate for such. So I had to park my car somewhere down the street. No problem, but state in your text on Booking.com that parking space is very, VERY limited! And we were not the only guests who were disapponted in that…||The receptionist. She was terrible! Probably does not know that she has to deliver a service to the guests, other then just handing over a keycard. Even that was to difficult as the keycard was mixed up with another room. When we finally entered our room, it was steaming hot in there. Unfortunately the airco was not working. So back to the frontdesk. The receptionist promised to have it fixed while we have diner. But we could not have diner in the hotel as it was fully booked. That can happen, but the receptionist did not assist us by pointing out that we could order roomservice or recommend a fine restaurant in the area. Normally there is a book with tips about the hotel like roomservice, roomservice menu, breakfast starting time, checkout time, etc. So we had to go out and find a place to eat on our own. Thanks to Siri we found one.||Back in the hotel I returned to the frontdesk to ask if the airco was fixed. I lost the bet I had with my wife. If was not fixed! The reason was ( according to the receptionist) that the airco can not make the room colder… But the receptionist came with a great solution: she will bring a ventilator to our room. ‘I will bring it to you within 10 minutes.’ While I am writing this review, it is already 1,5 hour ago. My wife put the ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door as we have to wake up early tomorrow and do not like to waste our time by waiting on a ventilator. ||Trying to get some sleep. Trying, as a guest probably brought their dog with him, left the poor thing in the room where it could cry all evening. Ok, lets call the frontdesk. No answere. As we were already ready for the night I did not bother to get dressed again to go to the frontdesk in person. ||So far a very, VERY DISAPPOINTING experience in this Mercure hotel in Dijon. Tomorrow morning breakfast. Can not wait what that will be. Of it is the same standard as the receptionist and the room, we will probably skip it and save us some money. ||My strong advise to all tourists and business people out there: AVOID THIS HOTEL. Read moreSo. One night, one parking place. Should have been easy. Arrive at the hotel, they are asking me for my credit card to guaratee that I will pay the second day. They block an amount of money from my account( so money out from my side), and it in the.morning I will only have to accept the payment. Sounds easy right? But no. In the.morning the girl from the reception asked me for my credit card, made another transaction, another amount of money were withrowed from my account(yey), but the first transaction remained active. She should only just give me the pos to accept the original transaction. After a long fight with them( they said it was my fault, that I don t understand, on a very fighthing tone, like.they were kings in the castle and so on) they canceled the first transaction from the previous night, saying that it s not their fault, they do this all the tim e .it s the the first ibis or hotel I stayed(i have more than 100 hotel checked so far) but only in ibis I had my money withrawed twice. Oterwise. The rooms are small, but clean, the bathorooms are minuscul, but also clean. For the breakfast: I am not a big fan of the frech breakfast( croissant, pain au chocolat, milk and cereal), but seems like they have some quality. Personal experience&recomandation: only if you can t find somehting else at the same price( tip:mercur hotel is across the...
Read moreIbis Dijon This is a very good Ibis, close to the centre of Dijon and with excellent transport links. It has a nice, secure and spacious underground car park with a lift up to reception and a tram station (Auditorium) about 30m away.
Rooms are pleasant with good air conditioning and very comfortable beds. The bathroom is an OK size but it’s easy not to close the shower door correctly and hence get the bathroom floor wet. Towels are a little bit thin and a little bit small but that seems to be the Ibis standard. The shower was nice with good pressure and hot water.
The breakfast is good quality, Ibis style fare, and the breakfast room is a pleasant place to be, just behind reception. The coffee lacked punch but was greatly improved with an extra shot of espresso.
Dijon itself is an absolutely delightful place to visit. The Place de Republique is an easy ten minute walk or a short tram ride. Dogs are not allowed on trams.
All in all, I can highly recommend this hotel.
One thing that did stand out was that the staff don’t seem very happy but they are polite...
