Stayed here for 1 night during my recent Velodyssey cycling trip through France. I booked this ahead without reading the small print. This is not a hotel, but an apartment block, so there is no reception, but I call to the number on the sign brought out a friendly lady (let's call her the caretaker) from another apartment who showed me to mine. The room was fine, if a little basic and there was a nice local pastry as a welcome gift. I later realised that bedding/toiletries were an optional extra, so went to see the caretaker to obtain some. I took the opportunity to mention that I had an small invasion of 'les formis' and she came to take a look. As a result, I was moved to another vacant apartment which was similarly fine. I was let off the bedding charge for my inconvenience. All a bit haphazard, but if I had realised it wasn't a full service hotel, I likely wouldn't have stayed here - I am sure it would be fine for a longer, better-prepared stay. Regardless of all that, the location is fantastic, just a short walk to the beach & restaurants and about a mile from the...
Read moreAs the other reviewer said, it was a nice greeting to be met with a complimentary cake. In England we would describe it as sponge with custard inside, a delightful bonus ! There is everything you need here, TV (French) microwave, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, washing machine, nice leather settee, a bed sofa as well as a double bed if there are more than two of you. The apartment is 4 star really (but no balcony / terrace) but the surrounding area OK at this time of year but not wonderful. It has many family - style apartments and holiday homes but not much happening. The best bits are walks around the huge lake and if you are about half way round hire bikes which we did, excellent price, 10 euro half day or 13 euro full day. There are about 5 bars / restaurants / pizza houses on the complex but many have not yet opened for the season. The shops seem to have prices at 25 - 50 per cent above what you would normally pay (bread, milk, beers etc) I suppose that's normal practice for...
Read moreVieux Boucau is magic! 😊❤️ Perfect location, just a very short walk from the amazing beach - you can even do it barefoot for a refreshing morning plunge! It's close to the center (check out Lucas bakery), but far enough not to be bothersome in the evening. There are places to get snacks, or a full dinner next to the beach, with the occasional night market - followed by a good night's sleep. The apartment is well equipped, sitting on the terrace watching people passing by is relaxing. Parking can be reserved right outside. The host Céline and her team are amazing, attentive and will help you immediately should you need it. ❤️ Been here twice, will...
