ALL THE REVIEWS ARE MISSING THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT.... The website will tell you there is two indoor pools. What it won't tell you (misleadingly) is that you can't swim in either of them... No indoor swimming in a spa hotel. Thats a first for me. We normally stay at a hotel that is part of this chain in Carnac, Brittany which unfortunately this year was being renovated. This place can't hold a candle to Carnac. Immediate first impression is that reception and the corridor off it towards the toilets constantly smelt of 'drains'. I think you know what I mean by that. It rained the entire time we were there and there wasn't much to do with no swimming pool. We had to join in the aqua-aerobics which was actually pretty fun. There is one restaurant which is supposed to change daily but hardly does. the nearest shop is 15 mins walk away and isn't very good. If you are here without a car you are completely stuck. Antibes centre is about 15 mins on the bus and there was nothing to do there. Nearly all the restaurants were closed at night unless you wanted kebabs or pizza from a hole in the wall. Food was ok at restaurant but quite expensive and usually underseasoned. All the roofs are corrugated plastic so the rain is very very loud on the roof. Our room was boiling and the air-con was erratic. When a maintenance man came to check it he said it was only possible to heat the room more as it was centrally controlled and connected to 4 neighbouring rooms. So we had to spend the rest of the stay with the balcony door open at night. Far from ideal. The wifi was very good fortunately until the hotel started to fill up with businessmen and then it dropped to a 5th of its initial speed. The place is generally old and dilapidated and in the middle of nowhere. The staff however were all brilliant. it isn't their fault its just the facilities or lack of that let the place down. The sauna is good. The stream room a little cold and the gym has no weights (only cardio machines). The pool you are allowed in has a few jets and a little jacuzzi area. The two treatments I had were ok and all the staff in the treatment areas were helpful...
Read moreWe had a pretty bad experience overall with our room and communication with the hotel reception staff. When we first arrived, we discovered that there was a small ant infestation in our room, which led to us being offered a different residence apartment for a few nights, while they sorted out the ant problem. This was a good experience.
We had a talk with hotel reception staff who told us that they could not say when the problem would be solved, but that they would call us when it was resolved. The day after we had another talk with the hotel reception staff who apologized for the ant problem, and said that they unfortunately couldn't offer any alternative accommodation in the residences, as all the apartments would be fully booked the day after.
That day we were offered a "hotel upgrade" by the hotel reception staff, which we said that we would have to think about, as we were planning on cooking our own food, and the hotel room did not have any facilities to allow this. The morning after we talked to hotel reception staff again, and let them know that we would like the hotel room upgrade, if we could not get another apartment. The staff then retracted the offer, saying that they were very sorry, but that they were fully booked on the hotel as well now (This is in spite of rooms being available on their website). They instead offered us a single free breakfast for the inconvenience...
That day we were relocated back to our previous accommodation that previously had ants in it. The room was now clear of ants, although the room in general wasn't particularly well-maintained. The light on the extractor fan of the kitchen was broken, and so were all the sliding wardrobe doors. A lot of the cutlery was very dirty, and there was no bread knife in this apartment like there had been in the apartment we were temporarily located in.
In general it seemed like there were substantial differences in the number and quality of things like cutlery, plates and glasses between different rooms.
The residences are cheap, but also pretty run-down and in need of maintenance. We will not be coming back again...
Read moreTo start with the positives, the hotel pool and sea view room are wonderful. And that is about it.|This is a spa hotel with many guests driving in from across France, coming for one or two days for spa treatments and therefore do not particularly want to be a tourist in Antibes. |If however, you want to book a hotel to be a tourist in Antibes, don't book this one. It is a 40 minute walk for fit people into Antibes town and the route is not direct, meaning a very long trek through mainly residential streets. |The hotel does provide a shuttle bus, but what they don't tell you, until you are there is that this is only 3 times in a day. It leaves at 9.30, 12.30 and 18.00hrs for the town centre or train station, with a corresponding return journey back to the hotel. In addition, the shuttle bus seats only 8 people, so you have to book days in advance to get a place on it. If you are the ninth person wanting a free shuttle into Antibes, you are out of luck. |The restaurant does serve good food at lunch and dinner, however, in the week we were there the limited menu did not change once. Also be sure to book a table, otherwise yet again you'll be out of luck. |In addition, as the guests of this Hotel are in affect, a captive audience, the drinks and food are expensive compared to Antibes town itself.|We did go into Antibes for evening meals and drinks, however, we didn't bargain for taking 7 uber trips back during our week.|The breakfast is dreadful. Unless of course you enjoy cakes for breakfast. Fruit provided was hit and miss and if you didn't get down first thing, you could forget about getting any.|We didn't use the spa at all, so I can't comment on it, or the services there, but that is not what we wanted from this break. |We like to visit the gym on holiday, but this gym was extremely limited in its equipment and be aware there are no free weights at all.|Antibes is small and I would suggest 3 days would be ample and to choose a hotel closer to the...
