Ciela Confort Chalet 3CH 6P - late July 25 stay - 7 nights – 2 persons with bikes and a car
Chalet & Facilities • The chalet was as advertised, though note that it only had a 2-ring hob, not 4 as expected. • Overall, the chalet was a little dated but functional. Beds were comfortable for us. (note bunkbeds in this chalet would only be good for children due to limited space.) • The fridge was small (half-size) with a built-in freezer shelf. It wasn’t ideal – either the fridge items froze, or the freezer defrosted – so keeping food at the right temperature was a challenge. • Shower was excellent with good pressure and very hot water. • The toilet had a solid flush – no complaints there. • The kitchen area lacked an oven (which we were aware of) – there is a microwave, so plan meals accordingly. • There were plenty of seats indoors and a nice decking area outside, which was appreciated especially when the weather turned. • TV had lots of channels, though none in English – not a negative for us, just worth noting. On-site Amenities • The pools were lovely and very clean – a definite highlight. Just a warning: the surface around the pool gets extremely hot, so bring flip-flops or water shoes. • The restaurant was advertised as only open Friday to Monday. We visited once on Sunday evening – the food was good, but we’re not sure how food options work outside of those days. • Evening welcome was mostly in French and not particularly welcoming to non-French speakers – not necessarily a negative, just something to be aware of. Other Facilities • The laundrette was easy to use, with card payment (€5 per load). Machines take large loads and wash in about 35 minutes. • There’s also one dryer, though we didn’t use it. • Campers’ freezer is available – you leave your items at your own risk. I placed a tub of ice cream in and it was still there 4 days later, so it seems safe enough. • Shop - there is not one on site but you can order bread from the bar or alternatively a 10 min walk to supermarket. • WiFi – Each chalet includes one free WiFi code for a single device. Additional codes can be purchased at about €15 per week. However, we were located about two-thirds of the way into the site, and the signal strength was extremely poor. Even with the paid option, connectivity was unreliable. Location & Surroundings • Parking was available directly outside our chalet, which was convenient – not all units have this option, so check the listing carefully. • Our chalet had plenty of shade, which is great for hot weather – although personally I would’ve liked more sun! Final Thoughts Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The chalet is functional but basic, and not luxurious – but the shower, pool, and peaceful surroundings made it worthwhile. If you’re prepared (e.g. bring cooking alternatives, pool shoes), it’s a good option for a relaxed week. Just manage expectations around food, kitchen, and language support, and you'll enjoy the experience. Don’t forget: you’re expected to clean the chalet before you leave - otherwise, a cleaning...
Read moreWorst experience of my life. Avoid this place.
We stayed in the camping for just one night, enough to experience the arrogance, rudeness and impoliteness of the managers of the property.
At the end of our stay, we have been blackmailed to pay 70€ of cleaning fee or they would call the police, all justified with a spot on the wall (an inexistent issue not even caused by us), the fact that we did not remove the bed linen from all the beds and the fact that we left washed dishes not in the correct place in the kitchen. All of this according to them requiring them 2 hours of cleaning (for 35€ per hour!!!). My personal feeling is that this is how they make most of their earnings, first attracting tourists with a competitive price and then making up a scam.
On top of this, when trying to discuss the issue, the young and disrespectful property manager was verbally aggressive and unpolite towards older people in our group who were politely and normally expressing their opinion.
I invite those who read this review to go and check all the low star reviews as they all highlight the same issue with the property managers.
No surprise, the place was empty even on a...
Read moreBe sure to park in the small carpark on the left adjacent to the entrance on arrival, we did not and incurred the ire of the reception manager! At 43ft we filled the carpark... You pick your own pitch on arrival. They are spacious, some have more shade than others, it can be quite tight to turn down the avenues on the one way system if you are long. Central hub with washing up, showers etc and laundry is kept clean and tidy. Site is quiet at night. Bar is quite expensive but the site is well situated to visit town which is lovely. Pool area is clean, plenty of loungers, not too many shades and the surround is hotter than the surface of the sun underfoot later in the day. Nice bread and pastry service. Site well situated for MTB and road biking, municipal pool a two min walk away, good value for money (cash only). Would likely visit again. You will receive a 10% discount voucher for La Romanche from reception -...
