We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on a half-board basis, and paid 135 euros per night for two of us. The hotel is about 2 km outside the old town centre of Uzes.||||Our room was on the top floor, and was small but clean. The bathroom included a shower only and a decent set of toiletries and plenty of towels. There is no central air-conditioning and we had to use the (slightly noisy) portable air-conditioning unit to avoid the room becoming too hot as there was a 40C heatwave at the time of our stay. ||||There is free wi-fi in the hotel but this did not reach our room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a nice swimming pool to the rear of the property. ||||The property is situated on a main road and exiting the hotel by car can be tricky, especially when turning left. ||||The highlight of the stay was the food, which is excellent and mostly locally sourced. The dinner menu is changed daily and has 3 options per course. Wines are reasonably priced. Breakfast was also very good and included fresh bread, croissants and pains au chocolat and freshly squeezed...
Read moreWe hadn't planned on staying in Uzes but it was a two hour trip back so we started lookig for a place around 6 pm. Struck out at the first three, which was a surpise for mid May. Had given up and decided to drive back when we spotted the auberge.||||They had rooms and as it was also a restaurant, we booked for dinner. What an unexpected treat! ||||The auberge is a two star, so the rooms are not enormous. However they have been renovated and are clean and bright. The restautant is likewise.||||Denis and his wife own and opertae the auberge. While we didn't meet his wife, Denis is delightful. His English was much better than our French.||||The next morning we stayed for a typical French breakfast. Denis freshly squeezes the orange juice with blood oranges. He told us that while the blood orange season had ended he had put away athousand oranges for juice.||||A side note. While our planning was a trip to St. Remy, the next day we went to Uzes, which really didn't get much mention in our guide books. We far preferred it to the more acclaimd St. Remy, which we found...
Read moreWe stayed here midweek in April for 1night half board. The food was good, not spectacular, I would consider it pretty ordinary for a 25 euro menu. We have a house in the Cote Vermeille so I am very familiar with what one can expect in this price range, and dinned far better for the same price every other day. We payed 145 euros half board for a small room which is high season price but none of the high season facilities were open. Breakfast was fresh juice, breads, conserves and some tiny kiddy cereal packet on the table and this cost 10 euros per head, we were not offered a hot option for extra as listed in the handbook and I had to look hard for someone for milk for my tea,I don't know what I was supposed to pour on my cereal had I wanted it!||We were also charged for a cup of tea after dinner so there is absolutely no advantage to being a guest as anyone coming in off the road would pay the exact same amount for each meal. ||I stayed in Bellagio in September Zermatt and Courchevel Feb and March and feel this was the worst value for money. ...
