Hôtel Le Phoebus Garden & Spa — Hotel in Narbonne

Bed fine, breakfast fine, staff friendly, shower hot. Nothing else was any good. We will never go there again.. We were booked into a room by reception. When we got there 5 mins later. Someone else's cases and stuff was in the room, the bed unmade etc. So we had to rearrange with reception. Hassle. TV didn't work well. Problems - only 5 TV's anywhere in the whole hotel could have TV2 for the rugby? Picture shuddered. eg whenever we turned a light on in the bathroom etc. sometimes just blacked out for 5 or ten minutes. Maint man arrived. He said loose electrical cables and TV ariel cable running next to electric cables were the problem. Scary. Apparently no other TV's in the hotel available or working. We missed most of the second half of the rugby. We would not have booked if we knew there was such bad service and quality. WC toilet paper sheets in nice dispenser. At 4am, they stopped dispensing. After several minutes dismantling the dispenser, I saw it had been loaded inconsistently, and I tidied it up and continued. When we booked, the telephone staff were awful. Got restaurant details very wrong for us and attitude very poor. Explained all this to staff as it went along, got no apologies or offers of eg free breakfast, or a discount if we ever booked again - NOTHING. They just wanted a list of problems to give to the repairman...

We arrived at the hotel with great expectations as somewhere to start our holiday in France with a relaxing spa hotel. The pictures looked great….however they paint a very different image of this hotel. It’s really disappointing and over priced. On arrival I was very surprised to find it looked more like an American motel. The hotel itself doesn’t have a bar or restaurant, all facilities are in the casino. The room was clean but shower head wouldn’t stay up and it’s dated again nothing like the rooms shown on their website. On checking in we booked our slot for the spa when we went to reception at the allotted time we were told it wasn’t available anymore as someone had booked it privately. The receptionist was not apologetic and really couldn’t have cared. Having had this disappointment we decided to venture to the pool, again not at the hotel but outside the casino, only to find piles of animal faeces next to the pool and the sun-bed cushions were all ripped and dirty. There were children playing next to the piles of pooh. It was revolting. We eventually got to use the spa in the next morning, the steam room was not working so there was just a jacuzzi. I must share my experience with this establishment. I can't call that a hotel. The pictures don't correspond to reality. First disappointment as soon as you get out of your car, is it this place we really booked?! You enter the place, reception is definitely not welcoming. You are definitely not treated as a client. We also needed to wait for check in till 17:00, another strange thing. So we went to the restaurant to have some lunch. The restaurant staff really didn't care. We sat by the table. Same time we noticed there are tables outside on terrace so we asked whether we could go outside to have lunch. The answer was : you can't, we don't serve there because there is mosquitos!!! After that we just left restaurant and we decided to don't even check in, our first impression got confirmed: you just want to run away!!
