I was extremely happy with the accommodation and service at this charming stylish hotel in beautiful Menton, France during August 2025. The hotel is a 45-minute drive from the Nice airport and the hotel staff can arrange an airport transfer pick-up or drop-off for guests for a specified cost. The hotel is in a beautiful building which has been recently refinished and is very elegant. The rooms are clean, modern, attractive and comfortable. The hotel has a security gate on the street and the rooms each have a safe. The breakfast room and nearby small bar area are beautifully decorated. You must pay each time you eat at the buffet breakfast in the hotel but the food is delicious with some rotation of new items each day. Coffee drinks are made by the staff to your specifications. The pool area is very clean and pretty and very relaxing and it has a nearby toilet/shower area. The staff at Villa Genesis are all lovely people who are polite, friendly and helpful at all times. They really make you feel at home. It was fun to have a drink at the bar and chat with the staff member who was making the drinks. A big thank you for the wonderful service during our stay to Daniel, Hugo, Anne-Violaine, Chiara, Giselle, Thomas and all the others whose names we didn’t learn! We really enjoyed interacting with you all! The hotel is quiet because it’s not located on the main street along the beach, but it’s only a short walk away from the beach. I enjoyed the nearby Solenzara private beach facility. I also enjoyed taking a 10-minute Uber drive to the start of the 5 km (one way) Roquebrune-Cap-Martin coastal trail along the waterfront which ends at picturesque Plage du Buse which is a public beach with a little restaurant east of Menton in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. I really enjoyed Menton’s main city area and the Old Town (30-minute walk) and if I visit this delightful city again, I would look forward to staying at the Villa Genesis...
Read moreVilla genesis looked great online but in person is very underwhelming and unwelcoming. They do not meet the standards of a “luxury hotel.” The grounds and rooms are much smaller than the pictures portray. We could not pull our car in the gate to drop off luggage and there was no one to assist with luggage. The AC also was not working the first 2 days. They failed to disclose that to us. The worst incident was someone/something from the room above dumped a bucket of unknown liquid onto our balcony, which drenched me as well as the breakfast I just bought. I was ready for the day and had to shower, change outfits. We just wanted to leave but the staff would not refund us as we booked a non-refundable rate. They ended up giving us one night free but did not allow any further partial refund to leave early. We explained it was our 10 year anniversary (which they did nothing to acknowledge) and we can no longer relax in this place. They would not even give us a different room and told us we could pay regular price for an upgrade if we wanted. As a physician I barley get anytime for vacation, and it was not worth it to spend it here. Importantly, they did not validate my concerns and acted as if I made up the incident of getting drenched. The next day, there was more water that poured onto the balcony. Thankfully I was not sitting out there. I do not recommend this place as a “luxury” hotel. They need to have better...
Read moreThis hotel is in no way 5-star! The layout and service are mediocre. Entrance is via the hotel parking lot. You have to climb a long flight of stairs to get to reception, which is at the end of a dark corridor. No welcome at all. The reception room is non-existent, just a counter and the small restaurant room.
The room (cosy) offers no particular comfort. The shower is large, but there's no bath (which is normally the norm in a 5-star hotel). Inside the room, no view of the outside as white film covered the windows. The famous "mountain view" was actually a view on the road that runs alongside the premises, which is quite noisy in the morning, especially as the train doesn't pass far either. A very basic room. The curtain is not blacked out, so at 6 a.m. the sun wakes you up. Noise of kitchen and slamming doors audible from the room.
And to top it all off, extremely weak wifi signal in the room!
In addition, staff was not very pleasant.
Completely disproportionate price and rating. Surprised by the amount of positive reviews given the poor quality of services this hotel offers. Wonder if they are true. This hotel deserves 3 stars no more and you can find much better with much lower...
