n I asked for a quiet room, she refused to accommodate my request because the price of €45 (which included a 10% discount) was too cheap to allow such a change. If the hotel were busy, I could understand it, but it was fairly empty. |||The hotel is large with pleasant décor some of which was wood. Mine was a twin room with an open wardrobe, a desktop, chair, TV on the wall, a good proper bathroom with a shower cubicle and free wi-fi. The room itself was probably better than at Ibis Budget. However, the lights wouldn't switch on when I entered the room and another receptionist had to fiddle with them to make them function. |||There is a buffet breakfast, which you must pay over €5 extra for (slightly cheaper than Ibis Budget), but it is not as good because there are no croissants, but it is otherwise a similar setup with bread, cereals, juices and tea/coffee machine.||Although the rooms in themselves are fine at this hotel, I have to reiterate what I have previously said about certain other hotels around the world : the prime purpose of any hotel is to provide sleeping quarters for paying guests. If the guests cannot possibly sleep due to constant noise, the hotel has failed in its main purpose . Hence, I can only give this hotel a rating of...
Read moreRead moreFor the price it's alright, the window seals might as well not exist and as a result you can very loudly hear every car passing by on the highway. The room temperature will also be pretty much the same as outside's, it's like the window is wide open. The window situation is also quite funny, every single room doesn't have a window handle so you physically cannot open or close the window unless if you call the reception and an hour later the security guy will come to open or close your window, they claim it's this way for safety reasons so that people won't fall or jump out of the window but I believe that's nonsense since what's stopping me from jumping out once I have the guy open my window? Either way the room is decent, it felt clean but it had a bad smell - cigarette smell? The bathroom had mold in the shower but at least there's a shower and I don't need the security guy to open the shower door for me. I should also probably mention that the reception personnel are a hit or miss - some are friendly and others quite literally tell you "I don't care" in your face when you request for an issue to be sorted out, or instead of tending the queue for their desk, they start counting and stressing over how many pepsi's there are...
Everything was fine as expected from a budget hotel. Receptionists were nice, although they can’t really speak English. The only issue upon check in was that I was asked to pay the hotel fees again even if I already prepaid online. They said that they did not charge the card when i made the prepayment as it was only meant to reserve the rooms. So i paid right then and there at the reception once again. Then this morning, i check that both cards (the one used for prepayment and the one used at the reception) were actually charged. Now, i have duplicate payments which I’m still tryint to resolve with Trip customer service. In addition, we were suddenly awoken the next morning due to all the noise right outside our door. Somebody was shouting/talking so loudly and kept banging things. When i opened the door, it was the housekeeping lady. What is the purpose of putting the “do not disturb” sign on the door if the person who’s not supposed to disturb you is actually disturbing you from directly outside your room. This is the first time i have met such a loud housekeeper and the first time a housekeeper did not greet “good morning” eventhough we...
