My first encounter with the hotel was me emailing them about their timings for breakfast, checking out etc - brilliant reply despite me speaking English and very prompt! I had high expectations. ||||I came by taxi from Valence TGV train station (about 33 euros) around 4 - 5pm and with little clear indication, I finally realised I had to checkin using the machine near reception as the reception was closed. Once you know to go to the machine, it's not too complicated.||||With about 2 pieces of main luggage and a few plastic bags, the stairs up to the top floor were not unbelievably difficult to mount (3rd floor = top floor) however this is considering I am fairly strong. I found no clear lift to take me to the top floor and the stairs are outside with no shelter so I'm not sure what would have happened if it had been raining. ||||Opening the door to my room (32) I was astounded by the size of the room. It was pretty small considering I had booked a room with 1 double bed and 1 single bed (no others available), supposedly the amount for 3 people, and I was 1 person and it was titchy. You have about a metre between the door and the side of the double bed and between the double bed and the wall (your corridor) there is less than half a metre. This meant that I left my main luggage by the entrance of the door (no other space to put it down really) which made it difficult to come and go leaving my luggage out. The room was organised so that the single bed is like a bunk bed, it lies above the double bed. ||||Positive notes on the room||a) it was very clean - no problems found on dust, clean sheets etc||b) TV that works for free, many channels, easy to use and understand||||Less positive notes on the room||a) Fairly noisy fan if you want to keep your room chilled and I found that on its settings for high, medium and low, high did not work and the fan just switched off||b) small bathroom! I tried to take a picture to highlight the size of it (especially if this is supposed to be for 3 people) but it was quite difficult. There is a nice mirror and sink, toilet and shower with shower gel provided free of charge. The problem lies in the fact the shower is just about fit in the "bathroom" with a curtain that separates it from the toilet and small indent in the flooring to attempt to keep the bathroom from flooding. The shower is small in size to say the least as coming from a person who is of average height and build, I could barely wash my hair in the shower without pushing the curtain and bringing water into the main bathroom. ||c) The walls are paper thin! Spent evening listening to next doors conversations and choice of TV. ||||The breakfast in the morning costed 4.90 euros and you can pay for it on the day (as i did) after your breakfast or before when you checkin. Its pretty good, nothing amazing or sensational. They offer a couple of sugary cereals including cornflakes, jams, butter, nutella (nice addition!), a few types of bread (sliced, mini-baguette), a slice of this sweet loaf (yummy!), yoghurt and drinks (coffee, tea, milk, water). My only negative notes would be:||a) lack of water - they provide a small number of small jugs of water (only 2 at a time in the fridge for the whole hotel) which ran out pretty quickly as somebody who likes to drink more than a small glass of water at breakfast. Asking the receptionist/chef/waitress to refill it, it came back maybe 10 minutes later once I had finished and paid for my breakfast!||b) Breads etc not exactly fresh and the cake was dry||||This hotel has a pretty large car park though which is helpful considering it is situated outside of the main town so public transport is not much of an option. However, it is situated about 20 minutes from the closest major supermarket by walk (perfectly feasible). ||||In all, this is a decent hotel for the price, but do not expect very much and staying here for 1 night it was fine for me, but for a week, I dont think this is the hotel...
Read moreWith this hotel, one cannot expect something of a starred hotel, not even one. Price is good though 39,00 € for a double occupancy room plus the "tax de sejour" of 0,75€ per person. Room is very small and the cabin for toilet and shower in one is very narrow. There is only one electric socket to use. And no hairdryer. The walls are thin so you hear the noises of the rooms next doors. Recommended for a night stay only if you have to be stocked in the neighbourhood and on a tight budget.|Ask for a room with one room interval (unoccupied room) so you can sleep without the noise of the television next doors. ||The so called eat all you can breakfast is very minimal but then it only costs you 5,90€ so what do you expect. ||There is a restaurant close by and you get a 10% discount on the total bill with the presentation of your booking receipt. ||Receptionist named Delphine was...
