Hotel Römerhof — Hotel in Bingen am Rhein

A small private hotel run by friendly and welcoming husband and wife team. We stayed for 5 nights whilst exploring this part of the Rhine valley and the location was excellent - a 10 minute walk from the station and 10 minutes into the town where there were plenty of restaurants to choose from. Rudesheim (well worth a visit) is a 5 minute ferry ride away on the other side of the river. This is not a luxury hotel - there is no lift, reception is not permanently manned and some of the décor is a bit old fashioned but we found it charming. We had a large double room at the front of the hotel and as we like to sleep with the window open there was a fair bit of traffic noise at what is quite a busy road junction outside, so if you are light sleepers then ask for a room at the back of the hotel. The bathroom was a bit dated but functional and there was free WIFI. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice (lovely scrambled eggs) and with different local delicacies served each day. We came to town for the Bingen Wine Fest and from the moment we walked in and met the owners till the day we left--if was incredible! The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was full of variety and the eggs were perfection. I can not say enough about this place and the people :) Communicated perfectly in English and when we decided to stay an extra day- they were full but went above and beyond and helped us find another place to stay. I can't wait to come back, the views are beautiful, the people are special and the hotel was in a great location and more then we expected. Hotel Römerhof, Bingen was recommended by my German friend and rightly so as the experience was fantastic. The place is owned by elderly couple with nice beautiful rooms giving a true German experience. Breakfast is served in the ground floor with a good option of cold and hot breakfast. The owner himself handles the kitchen and cooked eggs for me. This hotel is around 5 minutes drive from the Rhine Valley. One can take a boat to cross the Rhine river to get an experience of the wine yards. You can also visit the Christmas market across River Rhine in Rüdesheimer and tasting hot wine.
