Hotel Grand Kameha in Bonn, Frankfurt: A Review
Hotel Grand Kameha in Bonn, Frankfurt is a truly luxurious hotel. It is a very beautiful property with exceptionally friendly staff. This is a wonderful hotel to stay at with family—we visited as a family and had a memorable experience.
The entire hotel is spic and span, very well maintained, and the staff is extremely courteous. The rooms are large, well-ventilated, and romantically lit, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The bathrooms are modern, equipped with luxury bathtubs, showers, and high-end fixtures.
On a positive note, the hotel’s spa, located on the third floor, was excellent. There are several treadmills, two large sauna rooms with infrared heaters maintaining a temperature around 50 degrees Celsius, a steam room, and well-maintained showers. The sauna, steam room, and showers are kept impeccably clean, making them perfect for relaxing after a long day.
There is also a paid spa service, which I believe costs around 50 Euros for half an hour and 100 Euros for a full hour, though I am not exactly sure of the pricing.
The hotel also offers a rooftop swimming pool and a couple of lounging areas with reclining chairs where you can sit, lay down, relax, and order food and drinks after exercising, sauna sessions, or a spa massage.
The highlight of our stay was the hotel’s restaurant—Ludwig’s Restaurant within the Grand Kameha. It is a large and elegant restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff at Ludwig’s were exceptionally kind and attentive, going above and beyond to accommodate guests.
On our first night, we arrived late at around 9:30 PM, starving and tired. We walked into Ludwig’s just as they were preparing to close. One waitress, Venessa Weckmann, noticed us and kindly asked the chef if he could prepare something for us. She returned with the good news that they could offer us a one-course meal. Grateful, we accepted, and she seated us at a cozy corner table.
We mentioned that we are strict lacto-vegetarians, and asked for suggestions. After thinking for a moment, she recommended the "Poke Bowl." It was absolutely delicious—one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Thanks to Venessa's kindness and attentiveness, we were able to sleep that night fully satisfied. Thank you, Venessa! We truly appreciated your hospitality.
Breakfast at Ludwig’s is another highlight of the hotel experience. It is arguably one of the best breakfasts in the world, offering a huge variety:
Greek yogurt with a wide assortment of cut fruits
Freshly squeezed orange and apple juices
Many varieties of bread, cheeses, and croissants
Freshly made-to-order pancakes and waffles
Potatoes, various meats, and different types of condiments
Fresh raw honey, maple syrup, and more
A coffee station where you can make cappuccinos, espressos, or black coffee, and a selection of tea leaves with strainers and hot water.
The staff at breakfast were, once again, extremely courteous and attentive.
Location: The hotel is located along the banks of the Rhine River. Just walk down the rear stairs to enjoy a stroll along the river. There’s even a boat you can take to explore nearby places. We took a boat ride to Linz, a charming historical village with buildings dating back to the 1300s—it was a delightful and scenic trip.
Final Thoughts: I highly recommend Hotel Grand Kameha for both family vacations and romantic getaways. Despite the minor bathroom issues, the overall experience, hospitality, luxurious amenities, and beautiful surroundings make this hotel a...
Read moreUpon arrival, we found no bell attendant on duty in the hotel’s entrance that our driver had to unload our luggage from the vehicle. When we got to our room, we were disgustingly stunned by the poor housekeeping standard. We also had to request every time for a hair conditioner as it was not available in the bathroom. The shower hand mixer was constantly being detached and falling out to the floor. In a few days we were out with electricity which took two hours to be fixed. At that same night, all the lights were turned on that we could not turn them off and unluckily no maintenance was on-duty at night to fix the lights. We had a long argument with the manager to explain that we would not be able to sleep in such condition but they just kept on explaining to us that no maintenance can fix it. We requested to be transferred to another room but we were told that they were fully booked. Then we requested early check-out and a refund which then they offered to us Room 176, however the bathroom there is not clean and seems being used by somebody else. Having no option from them, we were forced to accept this and patiently waited for the situation to be resolved until the next day. We booked and paid for the biggest suite in the hotel but we would only have to sleep in a very unsanitary and skimpy room, very frustrating indeed. We hoped to get our frustrations resolved by the African manager on-duty but he was so rude and disrespectful to us. To top these off on our last day in the hotel, we requested a late check-out but they firmly insisted that we needed to check out at 12:30 pm. By 12 noon, they had already disconnected us from internet access during the time that we badly needed to contact our taxi and...
