After what seemed like a really long day of visiting various places in Germany, and driving what seemed like a million miles, we arrived at our hotel, it looked initially like we were out of luck with parking, as the entire area was heaving with cars, but we were advised that certain parking spaces had been reserved for our group and we duly found two, one for us and one for our friends that were travelling with us on this day.||We entered the hotel via the front door which happened to be about as far away from the cars as was possible, LOL, and waited for some reception service, they duly appeared and we got booked in, our room was lovely and we had two pillows, which was firstly a miracle as usually all Euro hotels on have one, and one that has no filling, these were not the best, and once you laid you head on them the deflated until they were flat, which for me is not good at all, as I suffer from back issues and I need to have my head raised to not allow my back to arch too badly, but that said, the bed was comfortable with lots of room.||The bathroom too was of a decent size, clean and well maintained, like the rest of the hotel. We then went back to the car to get our luggage, albeit for the one night stay we had here, we found a side door, that had been opened so we wedged it open, so that we did not have so far to walk back to the hotel reception, it seems like this is a normal practice, as there was a large stone there to do this, so others had done this in the past.||We got ourselves sorted and decided to go out of the hotel for some food, which was not too far away, but very nice, a long amble back to the hotel through the dock area, looking at the sights, boats and other activities.||The hotel has a bar area which on our visit did not seem to be open as everytime we went past there was hardly anyone in there and no staff on the bar serving, but it might have been just coincidence we happened ot pass when they were off doing something else. The dining room, which we only used for our breakfast was well laid out, spacious for the tables, but the food serving area was rather tight, and once you had a number of people in there, space was at a premium, and getting to the items you required was difficult.||Everywhere we went, both inside the hotel and out, was clean, tidy and graffiti free, the staff in the hotel were friendly, when we saw them, happy to advise of anything we asked. Our group was due to leave early the next morning, so our group leader asked if the breakfast could be opened 30 minutes earlier, but the answer was a definite no, but to the hotel's defence they did make each and everyone of us a packed lunch, with sandwiches, drinks, fruit and snack bars, which they did not have to do and at no extra cost to the group, we did cheekily go into the breakfast room once it opened and had a quick coffee and croissant before we had to leave. ||A great hotel, well maintained, clean and tidy, and well worth staying at, with lots of eating venues surrounding it, you do not have to use the hotel, but from what I gather from some of our group that did eat there, it...
Read moreWe stayed here for three nights on a business trip and for another night on another trip.
I liked the rooms, they were spacious and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable and the blankets were large enough for me. There were two pillows available, which was a nice touch. What I didn’t like was the waterproof cover under the bed sheet. It was during our second stay that the weather and hence the room was quite warm. Due to the plastic liner I was covered in sweat and had to get up to remove the liner in order to be able to sleep.
The rooms do not have an AC. As other reviews state, they will become quite hot. Opening a window helps, but will result in a lot of noise: birds, cars, delivery trucks early in the morning.
The bathroom was clean and spacious in one room, a bit smaller in the other. The only thing I didn’t like was the tiny trash can loudly hitting its top when opening it due to the design of the wash table.
Service was mostly charming, especially upon checking in I felt very welcome.
I liked the breakfast. While the atmosphere was quiet during the week, on a Sunday morning there was a lot of hustle and bustle, which for me was too loud. There is a pancake machine, which is nice. When I politely asked about maple syrup I felt a bit gaslit by a member of staff, who told me that I should use honey instead and seemed a bit taken aback by my request. I would have preferred simply to be told that there was none. There are lots of options available at breakfast, but they are the same every day. The breakfast room feels a bit too spacious, almost like a conference room. There is outdoor seating as well, but be prepared for the smokers.
I liked this hotel and...
Read moreWe stayed there for five nights in August with German relatives. Our room, on the second floor, was spacious, with a nice balcony overlooking the old harbor. During the day, there was a lot of activity in the old harbor area, with ice cream shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. It was very interesting to sit on the balcony and observe the crowds.||||The bed was very comfortable. Our room had an easy chair and a small desk area large enough to set up my laptop. The bathroom was quite spacious, with a very nice shower (but no tub). The sink area (with one sink) had a large enough storage area to put all of our cosmetics.||||The hotel has a large breakfast area with a very generous selection of breakfast foods, including warm items like scrambled eggs, fried eggs, hard boiled eggs, bacon and sausage. Of course, there was a wide selection of fruits, meats, cheeses. There was so much food that we typically had a big breakfast and then did not eat again until dinnertime.||||The hotel is well located by the old harbor, close to the old town of Heiligenhafen. For those who like the beach, it is a comfortable five-minute walk...
