A1 Hostel Nuremberg — Hotel in Nuremberg

A great place in a funny location....but the concept works!||||FIRSTLY, dont worry about the lack of reception times and getting your key from the box...I arrived late on a Saturday over the Christmas period and was feeling a bit apprehensive...'Will I be unable to get in and end up sleeping outside?' ...no worries!...following the instructions and using the code I was in and relaxing in my room within 5 minutes...the system works well!||||+ve||1. Nice clean room with washbasin, comfy bed, clean mattress/sheets...and they even left a wrapped chocolate as a welcome!.||2. Shared facilities (bathroom [single sex], kitchen, lounge) and very clean.||3. Inexpensive.||4. Quiet.||5. The reception lady seemed nice...met her on the morning I was leaving.||||-ve||1. Bit of a way out; will take you 1 hr to walk to Nuremburg main rail station BUT convenient for the Reich parade ground/presentation road (15 minutes away), and literally next to the Messe grounds if you are here for business...best to take metro into Aldstadt (10 mins) and budget 3 Euro each way.||2. Funny location (middle of residential housing area) but felt safe.||||Would I stay here again?...yes, it provided everything I wanted i.e. a clean, comfortable room at...

I stayed here with a few friends under the illusion that this would be a cheap and cheerful place to stay while visiting Nuremberg. Cheap it was; cheerful it was not. The hostel is located not too far from the U Bahn station "Messe", but as it is located among blocks of flats, it is not the easiest place to find, especially at night. The hostel itself did not seem to have many guests, rather residents. It became clear to us that the hostel was being used a temporary residence by workers in the surrounding area, who were hostile towards people using the hostel as guests. For example, we were sat chatting in the communal area at around 8 P.M. and in came a livid man shouting at us to be quiet due to him being up early for work the next morning. He also exclaimed that "this is not a hostel, not a place for fun". Overall, there was a terrible atmosphere to the place, and I would definitely recommend you look at staying...
