We arrived by train and the hotel is about a 6 minute walk from the station, with luggage. It is a little hard to find as it is tucked away in a corner, but we enlisted the help of two kind traffic wardens, who escorted us to the hotel. There are some steps involved in reaching the hotel or there is a step-free, slightly longer route.||We received a very warm welcome from the owner who willingly answered all our questions.||As the owner is Austrian, the hotel rooms all have Austrian names. Ours was the Salzburg room, overlooking the carport and beyond, and this was a pleasant, homely room. There was a huge picture of Salzburg above the bed. ||We appreciated the tea/coffee facilities, the fridge and the heated bathroom floor. There were plenty of power points.||Yes, the hotel is next to the railway line but that didn't bother us. We didn't need to use the supplied earplugs! The free WiFi was reliable and easy to use with the code supplied.||We can't comment on breakfast as it was served from 8am to 10am, which was a little late for us as we needed to be up and away each morning to take full advantage of a winter's day.||The township is just down the road and trams are close by. The wonderful lake, which was partly iced over during our visit, is also close by and pleasant to walk around. We were there during the Christmas markets which were quite extensive and very busy. They include a ferris wheel and an ice skating rink. A walk around the old town is interesting.||Schwerin is a lovely place to visit and our accommodation was...
Read moreI'm very late writing this but I just remembered that I must! I stayed here for one night in 2017 and it is easily the best more comfortable hotel stay I have had. It is very close to the main train station, just a short walk away. Town is also a short walk away.
The rooms are immaculate and cleaner and more sterile than a hospital. It did not feel like a hotel room - it felt like a home. The interior décor is perfect. I got a single room with ensuite bathroom.
The hotel is right by train tracks but this did not bother me - I dont mind the background noise. So this is a very individual thing. If I stay here again I will select a room facing the tracks, I like it!!
The owner is fantastic, extremely pleasant and kind and made me feel right at home. The breakfast in the little café is so yummy. It was nice also having a talk with the owner who told me about his days in Austria and how he began the hotel. If the Alpha Festival returns to Schwerin this is where I will stay again! I highly highly recommend...
Read moreThis is a great centrally located place to stay, only a few minutes walk from the main rail station. Schwerin is a quiet, picturesque place and the small scale friendly nature of Hotel Amadeus reflects this. The welcome we received on arrival was very pleasant and check in was swift. The room was exceptionally light and generous in space, with a very clean bathroom and all amenities needed. A mini bar was also provided within our room which was a nice touch given the good value of our stay, as well as small touches such as a chocolate on the pillow, rather kitsch, but nice all the same. ||||We had no problems with noise levels at all, the only wonderful interruption was the sound of choir practice from the church just across the road. We didn't have breakfast whilst we stayed as there is a wealth of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Access to the hotel is via a fob and door code which allows free exit and entry at any time. All in all a very pleasant stay and I would highly...
