FourSide Hotel Ringsheim — Hotel in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Ettenheim

We stayed here as a base to travel out to Freiburg, Strasbourg, Europa Park, Titisee & Lucerne, Switzerland. We stayed in a 2 bedroom bungalow (1 double and 2 singles). There was a good sized kitchen/dining area, sofa area with a tv, shower room with toilet, and a separate toilet. The bedrooms had comfy beds and blackout curtains. The whole place was spotless, including the kitchenware, and they provided a washing up sponge/liquid/towel. Large bin with extra bin bags and plenty of storage space. We were able to connect the firestick to both tvs (second tv in master bedroom). With a bungalow you get a private parking space right outside. The location is a massive benefit, about 8 mins to Europa park, less than 10 mins to multiple supermarkets (Lidl, Edeka, Norma, Aldi - but be mindful that all are closed on a Sunday), 2 mins from a reasonably priced petrol station (and omg they sell Cornetto King Cones!) and 2 mins from an Italian restaurant and takeaway kebab restaurant (which was very nice!). There is a bus to Europa park nearby if you prefer although we drove as it was only €10 to park. You can get free tea and coffee from the main building and the staff were very helpful, including with us checking in late at around 11pm. The whole area was super quiet and peaceful and there were some outdoor spaces you could sit in. Air con was very good and although we didn’t need it there were radiators around the bungalow. We had a great time here there was literally nothing we could fault. It felt very spacious and we quickly settled in, it really felt like a lovely holiday home...

Achtung bei Buchungen im Sommer - Abflussgeruch bringt beißenden Fäkaliengeruch in einige der Zimmer

Watch out during the summer—they have an issue with their pipes, and on warm summer days, it stinks horribly in the bathrooms and the rooms. We complained about it (as did many others), but they told us that the problem would be across the hotel and that they couldn't do anything about it (room swap was therefore not an option as all remaining and available rooms apparently had the same issue). It seems to be a construction error.

The place may be okay in the winter, as other reviewers said, but absolutely DO NOT BOOK FOR ANY WARM SUMMER DAYS. You may end up in one of those sewage-smelling rooms. Especially, if you check in late in the day, there may be no alternative room available anymore, and you will have to spend the night in sewage smell.

The worst thing, however, was that we contacted management afterward and asked for some kind of compensation for such a horrible night. Although they were very well aware of the situation and the problem, they refused to accommodate us in any way. Instead, we received ridiculous treatment where they blamed us for lying.

If you pay 100 EUR and more per night, I think it is fair to expect not to have to sleep in a room that stinks like sewerage (wastewater). We had a hard time getting to sleep and will obviously...

Kurzfassung (aktualisiert): Mangelhafte Sauberkeit, unbewohnbare Zimmer bei schlechtem Wetter, unzureichender Umgang mit einer berechtigten Beschwerde und eine Rückerstattung von 29,52 €, die erst am 20.08.2025 (!) auf meinem Konto einging – also knapp 6 Monate nach der Zusage und über 4 Monate nach der angeblich beauftragten Zahlung. Ein Betrag in dieser Höhe so spät auszuzahlen, ist schlicht lächerlich. Das Hotel wusste um die Probleme, entschied sich aber, auf Kosten der Gäste zu handeln. Keine angemessene Entschädigung, dazu eine verzögerte und unbefriedigende Reaktion.

Detaillierte Bewertung (aktualisiert):

1️⃣ Unbewohnbare erste Nacht – bekanntes Problem ignoriert Wir buchten ein Zimmer im 4. Stock und mussten feststellen, dass dort bei starkem Wind ein massives Klackern von Antennen auf dem Dach entsteht. Eine Mitarbeiterin bestätigte, dass es dazu bereits Beschwerden gab – geändert wurde aber nichts. Das Hotel ließ uns für eine Nacht voll zahlen, obwohl der Aufenthalt objektiv unzumutbar war.

2️⃣ Downgrade statt Lösung – dazu eklatante Hygienemängel Als Ersatz bekamen wir ein kleineres Zimmer im Erdgeschoss, das zwar ruhiger war, aber in einem schlechten Zustand: ❌ Zentimeterdicker Staub auf Möbeln ❌ Haare im Waschbecken, nasse Dusche ❌ Miefende Handtücher – alles andere als hotelwürdig

3️⃣ „Entschädigung“ auf Billigniveau Ein Gratis-Frühstück als Ausgleich – beworben mit 22,90 € pro Person – entpuppte sich als traurige Auswahl aus Aufbackbrötchen und billigster Discounterware.

4️⃣ Versprochene Rückerstattung – beschämend verspätet Am 22.02.2025 wurde mir eine Rückerstattung von 29,52 € zugesagt. Am 07.04.2025 hieß es, die Zahlung sei nun „beauftragt“. Tatsächlich eingegangen ist das Geld jedoch erst am 20.08.2025 – also fast 6 Monate nach der Zusage und über 4 Monate nach der angeblich beauftragten Überweisung. Ein solch geringer Betrag, so peinlich spät angewiesen – das spricht Bände über den Umgang des Hotels mit berechtigten Beschwerden.

Fazit: Das Hotel versagt in sämtlichen Disziplinen: ❌ Bekannte Probleme werden ignoriert ❌ Zimmer sind dreckig und unter dem gebuchten Standard ❌ Kommunikation ist ausweichend und unprofessionell ❌ Rückerstattung? Erst nach einem halben Jahr und damit eine Farce
