The Eastgate hotel is very pretty on the outside, with grey sculptural architecture. There is a small pool with a poolside bar, which is nice if you have time to relax. The bath room was missing a hand towel, bath mat, and soap when we checked in, but that was corrected within minutes. However, soap is all that is provided so if you need shampoo and lotions, bring your own. The room phone did not work, and that was corrected immediately, and it continued to function after the repair. The room was clean, clean floors, no dust on the window ledges, clean sheets and towels. The AC worked very well, as did the internet and flat screen TV. The only reason I downgrade from 5 stars is the lack of a reading lamp by the bed. Every picture of every room on the internet showed a lamp by the bed, sometimes 2 lamps by the bed. Our room had no lamp, and there was no place to plus one in. The room was a bit lacking in electric outlets, if you need to plug in a lot of phones, computers, Kindle, heating pad for aching back, etc. I always bring my own extension strip with 4 sockets, but if you don't have one, it may be a problem. The breakfast was very good, with a nice buffet. In fact the buffet server called our room to remind us that breakfast was being served. This has never happened to me before! The lunch/dinner menu was varied, and the food was good. Our favorites were the okra stew with goat and the margarita pizza. The kitchen was able to handle substitutions to the menu with competence and professionalism. Room service was quick, the fee was only 5 cedis, and the food arrived piping hot. The staff are pleasant, helpful and professional. I would stay here again when in Accra for business. The location was quiet, with a guard at the...
Read moreClean sheets and towels, clean floors, clean bathroom. A little snafu upon checking in-- there was no soap, bath mat or hand towel, and the house phone did not work. But the staff corrected all this cheerfully within a half hour. Breakfast very good, and the breakfast staff called our room to advise us that breakfast was ready!.(This has never happened in any other hotel I have stayed in, on several continents!) The only reason I do not give 5 stars is that all the photos of the rooms on the internet clearly showed a lamp by the bedside. Our room had no lamp, and no place to plug one in, and no place to put one; which is clearly why there is no lamp. However, I selected this hotel because of the reading lamp by the bed! I would stay here again, though, because the room service for lunch and dinner was fast, the food was good, the room service fee was very reasonable, and the staff were pleasant and efficient. There is a nice pool and poolside bar, which we were too busy to use....
