I stayed here for several day and I can’t in all consciousness recommend this place.||||Note that the staff are wonderful, lovely people but, this property is very old and basic. There is nothing luxury about it. It’s probably at best a 2 star. ||||The rooms are musty and poorly lit, the ground floors all face walls that people can walk past so you have to keep your curtains closed at all times which makes it darker. The bathroom is small and falling apart. I had several issues with flooding, the sink not working for several days, no hot water, panels falling off of the bathtub, wall tiles cracking. ||||The breakfast food is just nasty. The bar only has a few drops of alcohol in some of the bottles. I didn't finish my stay here because I was just uncomfortable the entire time. ||||This is not against the staff-they really are wonderful. But the property should be more honest about its description and market itself as a budget option in Accra for more of the young, backpacker,...
Read moreStayed there 14 days in December 2011. By Ghanian standards, His Majesty's Hotel is one of the best in Accra. The Hotel Manager, Mr Ibrahim, would go out of his way to help in every way he can. Food is good and fairly priced. Excellent internet connection for those who cannot do without. I benefitted from the generosity of the manager who gave me a junior suite for the price of a standard room (USD 150). I was even allowed to smoke in my room although the property is strictly smoke-free!!! His Majesty's is close to the main spots in Accra and about 20 minutes drive from the airport. ||||Some of the staff members should perhaps be more welcoming and smiling to their guests - not all of them are. One particular female receptionist has this habit of occupying the telephone line for long stretches of time so much so that i had to walk downstairs on 3 occasions to ask for something or other as the phone was busy all...
Read moreWe bought a group of 11 and our only regret is that we only got to stay for one night before departing back to the USA. The rooms are mini-apartments and that is what our group liked most about the place. You get a separate bedroom, living room and bathroom in most of the rooms. The WIFI worked excellent, but the bus center only has two computers. The staff is EXCELLENT! Restaurant and bar are nice and the food was good. There is no pool, but our guests did not even care. Also, the street is very busy and a motorcycle rider snatched one of our ladies little purses while she was walking about 2 blocks from the hotel--in broad daylight so if you venture out for a walk away from the hotel, be alert as if you are in midtown Manhattan and keep your stuff close to you. As long as we do trips to Accra we will stay in this hotel and manager, Ibrahim is one...
