We have just got back from Inglessata Rose Studios, where we had spent one beautiful month. The studios are perfectly positioned, just in the middle of the island, so it takes approximately the same time to get to the North or to the South of Kefalonia. It was very important for us that the property is within the village, so there is everything we need in a close range. We have spent a long time in Kefalonia, came by our own car, drove more than 2 400 km hovering around the island and saw many beautiful houses offering accomodation, but many of them are in the middle of nowhere. But here, it is good to know, just around the corner there is well stocked shop, which is very usefull when it gets to morning supplies. There are few tavernas nearby, few cafes in the walking distance, a bicycle rental, so you can walk or pedal to three beautiful and well known sandy beaches in Kefalonia, which are really close: Avithos with its Megali Petra part, Ammes where the turtles are nesting and Ai Hellis with its shells fosils in the rocks nearby. We enjoyed our morning walks around, it is just 1 km distance from the gorgeous Kourkoumelata, one of the most beautiful Greek villages. The most beautiful thing is that we felt like being at our own place, at our own home, part of the community of people who live here, not like some sort of isolated turists in some kind of resort made on purpose. No, Inglessata is different. It is situated in an old peace of land with a beautiful family history, in the middle of well tended organic orange and lemon orchard. Within their property, you can admire even a 2 000 year old olive tree!||The studios (we had two of them) are kept very clean, they are comfortable, spacy, airy, full of light with big french doors , well equipped with everything we needed... It is very quiet, with pleasant temperature and fresh breeze in the evening and during the night. There wasnt a single time that we turned an air-condition on. Simply, there wasnt need for it.||Inglessata is, somehow, like Kefalonia, its all about scents, flowers, colours, some old dignity and charm, birds chirping in the morning, heavy smells of the earth and leaves after the rain, ... just beautiful. Altogether. Our kids had cats to play with and two adorable dogs, that we are still mentioning. The owners, Anna-Maria and Wayne are also incredible people, very warm and always at hand. They wellcomed us as they know us for many years, and we felt as we came to an old friend that we havent seen for a long time. In my mind, I can still see Anna-Maria rushing down the stairs with a few pairs of blankets for us, worring that the nights might be too fresh , bringing fruit for the children, she is here and there and everywhere, full of energy, taking care that everything is O.K.... And you just want to hug her and keep that peace of goodness with you! It seems that when our faith in people goes down and degrades, then we meet somebody like this and it raizes again like a ray of light, screaming to Life „Hello, sunshine!“ Some people just stay imprinted !||We will certainly be coming back to Kefalonia. When, we dont know. In some years to come. But, when we come, we have no doubt anymore...
Read moreWayne and Anna Maria could not have been more helpful both by email before the holiday and while we were there. Nothing was too much trouble. Before we got there I asked if I needed to bring beach towels and a mosquito plug in - they then provided these;I asked about the opening time of the local supermarket as we were arriving very late - they took us there to get the basic provisions. I had asked about beaches and snorkelling and when we arrived there was a printed sheet containing everything we needed waiting for us. They were so welcoming and provided us with lots of information on where to go etc. It is so close to the airport 15mins so no long transfer. There are 2 beautiful beaches you can easily walk to one St Helis is 15/20 mins the other Avithos is 20/30 mins. We were lucky enough to swim with a turtle in Avithos as they were laying nests when we were there. Ammes is also a lovely beach but you need a car. Umbrellas and 2 sunloungers ranged from 5 Euros to 8||||Their beautiful organic orchard provided fresh oranges, lemons and limes which we could help ourselves to so freshly squeezed orange juice every morning! The studio was clean and bright with a patio area overlooking the orchard and very quiet and peaceful. There was nothing you could possibly fault.||||Air con was necessary as it was 30 degrees plus when we were there and was available for 5 Euros a night.||||A beautiful Island and fabulous stay. Thank you Wayne and Anna Maria for a fantastic stay. Jill||||Greekstones Hire Car are highly recommended also as suggest you hire a car to see the beautiful Island - they were really helpful and accommodating when we wanted to extend the car having booked before we arrived. Suggest you book early as they are very popular and are just 10 minutes walk from the studio.||||Go and see the amazing turtles in Argostoli and have a fabulous meal as they swim right up to...
Read moreHaving recently returned from an incredible 4 week stay on Kefalonia, at the wonderful Inglesata Rose, we couldn't have been more thrilled with our time at Wayne and Anna-Maria's! The apartment was set in the family's stunning orange grove. The accommodation has everything you could want or need for you stay and was spotlessly clean. Wayne and Anna-Maria made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, we genuinely felt that nothing was too much trouble. They were available for any assistance or information we needed but without a hint of feeling 'watched'. The location of the accommodation is ideal if you like to be in the beautiful residential setting of Svoronata, close to the beautiful Avithos beach and with some local minimarkets and restaurants close by. We hired a car for the duration of our stay and the accommodation had plenty of space for parking withing the gated grounds. We loved our time at Inglesata Rose and would highly recommend the place to anyone considering a visit to the stunning island...
