The description on Booking.com was exactly what we were looking for: 800 meters, 8 minutes walk to a sandy beach, 400 meters to shops and tavernas. Quiet accommodation with pool.|| ||We thought it was going to be ideal for children without hiring a car and stupidly booked a non refundable family apartment. It was only about one month after booking that I decided to look on TrpAdvisor for restaurants and things to do in Trapezaki that I discovered thanks to TripAdvisor that Lygies Studios was much further away from the beach than 800 meters and a car was recommended, especially as the road uphill wasn't suitable for children or the unfit, lazy sort like myself. I attempted to get a refund both through the hotel owner and Booking.com but the owner had the final say and she would not allow it. ||||I have asked Booking.com to change the description as false and misleading statements are actually against the law. They replied that they do not write the descriptions, the hotel owners write them and only after receiving complaints are prompted to update the text. I was glad to see the owner has recently updated the 800 meters to 1400 meters but this is still less than the real distance and it still says 8 minutes walk to Trapezaki beach. ||||Lygies Studios is also advertised on several other sites, including its own web site and AirBnb. My opinion of Expedia.com has really gone up recently as it is the only site which says it is 1900 meters from Trapezaki beach, which incidentally is the distance quoted on Google.maps, a reliable source. Google maps says it is a 23 minute walk from Lygies Studios to Trapezaki beach but that does not take into account the steepness of the hill. It is calculated only on the road distance multiplied by an average walking time. The uphill walking time obviously depends on how fit the person is. Can 1900 meters up a steep hill be walked in 8 minutes? I guess athletes could do it, and soldiers with genetically altered DNA could easily beat it but it would have been very difficult for me to manage without a car so I unfortunately lost the entire pre-payed booking amount. ||||I have submitted a claim on the Booking.com site and am hoping for a 15% refund. ||Surely Booking.com could use google apis to integrate an automatic road distance calculator in their CMS? After this painful experience I have realized that of course they could, but it is more profitable for them not to. They make a fortune out of over inflated tourist booking prices in Greece. Which probably explains why so many tourists travelling to Greece use booking engines to guarantee a roof over their head for the first couple of nights then pay cash locally at half the booking engine price.||||The 1 star is out of annoyance for the false description on the Booking.com site which made it impossible for me to go and for loosing my entire hard earned money. It is no indication of the studio standard and I must say the photos do...
Read moreA kefalonia virgin but have this morning arrived back from the most wonderful week on the most beautiful island and will definitely be returning. Lassi is a great resort, pleasantly just 10mins from airport so from backage collection to beach in an hour! We got dropped by our transfer coach at the bottom of the dreaded hill! it was midday, we had luggage and I'm not the fittest 33 year old i know but it was do-able! it's not pleasant or fun but it makes for great views. We had an inland room booked but were so pleased to be given room 8 which has a magnificent view of the coast. At sunset this was truly breathtaking. I wasn't expecting much from the apartment but was really pleasantly surprised. Small but perfectly formed. The bathroom was very modern and had the best shower i've seen in any accomodation in a long time. The kitchen was very basic and had nowhere to toast anything but everything was clean and functional. The apartment was cleaned daily and fresh towels/sheets either every day or everyother day. There is no reception area at these apartments and so other than the rep it was hard to get in touch with anyone if you had a question. We were disappointed to have to pay 15 E for safety box and be told that Air conditioning was 50 E for week. we simply couldn't justify this and so went without. Night times were hot but not unbearably so, so i'm glad we didn't get it really. ||The location of the apartments was great for us. A 20min stroll to main "long beach" but nice little cove beach just 2mins away. These apartments are at the end of the strip which was fairly lively, just right for couples. Being up the hill meant we were away from main road noise and passers by. ||We hired a car for 3 days, which we were nervous about as we had never done before. It was great and would definitely recomment this to see the island. We only went as far as Sami and visited argostoli and found a couple of great little beaches on the way home from places. (St thoma and antisamos).||Kefalonia is magnificent. I have been to Thailand, france, spain turkey etc etc and have never seen better beaches or clearer water. It didn't feel like typical Greece and really does have its own unique charm. The people are just great and there's not of that desperation to get you in their bar or restaurant that you get elsewhere.||Oh, another thing on the apartments...there was disappointingly no courtesy room. This was really inconvenient as we had a 10pm flight. The apartments were obviously not full and this really was inconvenient as we had to get changed in public and there was no loo etc to use. This would be my only real criticism of the holiday...which all in all is just a niggle. It really was fantastic. If you...
Read moreWe went in early September . 35m father 32f mother 15f daughter . Arrived late at night and we found the bar etc closed . Lovely lady showed us to our basic but very clean apartment . Managed to get a bottle of water for the night and slept the night OK. |Woke up to nothing for breakfast so we explored and eventually found a mini market 1 mile down the hill . We went up the hill to start with obviously . |That day the pool bar opened ( closed after that) but was out of most things. By the first night it was obvious we needed a car to enjoy the island . |We had very good food at the restaurant by the market that night . |The next day after a taxi to pick up a car our holiday really started . The island is absolutely fantastic and we can't wait to go back albeit not at Lygies . It's just too remote to be able to fully relax and enjoy the island . We were on a daily basis planning around getting back or staying in another town. Ideally we should have stayed at Scala or Fiskardo but live and learn.||There is a lovely restaurant down the beach 2.5k downhill which we went to a few times , well worth a look ||Taxis are expensive and there's only one possibly 2 restaurants within walking distance . We like a nightly stroll to different tavernas and a glass of wine . ||Nothing there for our daughter either . We only enjoyed ourselves when we were in...
