How on earth can this be advertised as a 4* hotel?
Where do I start?
The hotel definitely did not live up to the images shown and advertised etc. they do love to edit their images. We wanted to treat ourselves to a nice room with a view, fireplace, etc and paid £450 for two nights and I must say I couldn't justify this price for the place. Extremely dated compared to other options in town for the same price.
One would say, why didn’t you stay somewhere else? Well, simply it was our mistake was to leave it to the last minute and as well our friends had a dog so we all agreed to stay there where they are allowed.
What really shocked me, was that they charge the Sauna 7 euros per person/visit. I've never come across this and believe me, we have been to many similar places in France and Switzerland!
No mini bar, only one bottle of water for the two days of our stay. The shampoo bottle had been opened and used prior to our arrival.
Zero soundproofing - we “enjoyed” our neighbours movie and listed to an entire conversation from our neighbour above us.
20-25min walk to town and quite a dodgy road to do by foot.
The staff was extremely rude, they even kicked us off our breakfast table as the buffet was closed. We weren't even eating, we were simply finishing our coffees.
The highlight of our stay was when we checked out. They asked us where the safe key was and I said we left it on the safe door in the room. They sent housekeeping up to retrieve the key and they claimed they couldn't find it. I insisted we left it there and they were all panicking and freaking out claiming that this was the only key they had and going back and forth to the management office. Their response was very rude as if we vandalised their property or something.
They were shocked and of course, embarrassed as they had created a scene for nothing, and was clearly an internal issue. They definitely did not try to make any good.
I wish I had read the other reviews, most of them had a similar experience.
I would highly recommend you look elsewhere until they address...
Read moreThis hotel did have some positives, but not enough to get a higher rating than average. The location is very picturesque and we were lucky to have a room with a balcony and a beautiful view. The room was a good size. This is an older hotel that has had some updates but still shows its age. The flooring appeared newer, but there were many places in the room where paint was chipping or other signs of age/wear. I was happy to have a teapot in the room, and there was an extra down comforter in a cupboard that was appreciated. There was a mini fridge that had a (very) small freezer area inside that I didn’t see in any other hotels on this trip. A few small changes and this hotel probably could have gotten a higher rating from me. For example, provide a minimal tea/coffee service with the teapot (instant coffee and a few tea bags, maybe some stirrers and sugar etc.) Another couple we traveled with had a large suite that had a teapot but no mugs. Our bathroom had a soap dispenser by the sink and another in the shower that I assume was shower gel and/or shampoo, but wasn’t labeled. There weren’t any other bath products or toiletries that you’d expect to see in a nicer hotel (lotion, shower cap, etc.). There was also only one peg in the bathroom to hang a hand towel and no pegs or bars to hang bath towels. The hotel was very clean though. Just missing a lot of the smaller finishing touches that you’d expect in...
Read moreThe hotel was dated but had amazing views and decent size rooms. The reception was decorated quite nice for Christmas and the breakfast was pretty good. |So why a low score? A hotel is a place to relax and rest. When the hotel bar is still playing music and kids are running around after midnight it’s impossible to do either. You either make your money as a bar/ restaurant or a hotel that offers this service until 11pm. Our room was right above the bar and it was absolutely unacceptable to be subjected to this noise level so late on a Wednesday night. For me it doesn’t matter if you book a double room or a grand suite a hotel should at the very least respect the right to sleep. |To be fair we only booked this hotel for the parking as the streets are narrow in town. |Beds were comfortable enough to lie in ( whilst staring at the concrete ceiling, listening to music, kids and door banging) the room had a dated bathroom with a loud toilet flush. Electric kettle provided but strangely with minimal supplies. Went into town and bought my own coffee and milk but then needed a second cup and spoon - bizarre. |Probably will not be my first choice if I return...
