We came only for the spa services and pools. We got 3 appointments for the same day within an hour. When we arrive we were greeted by wonderful staff. The lady at the front desk of the spa was very nice, very helpful and explained everything very well.
The indoor pool was nice but felt dirty. I know it’s very old but it needs some renovation and cleaning. We also had farmers bath (sauna) and it was great. I really enjoyed the sauna.
The outdoor pool costs 27 euro and it smelled like dead fish and I saw plenty of fresh bird poop in it. We had to leave because of the awful smell.
We went to get a massage and facial. The massage was not very good. The man was not friendly and he did more “rubbing” than massaging. He did my legs for 20 minutes but never touched my feet or shoulders. When he massaged my mother, he was texting on his phone while massaging her with one hand. I would say very unprofessional.
The mens facial treatment was better than the massage. But they put creams on your face and tell you to wait 20 minutes. So half of your facial is just you sitting in a room alone with cream on your face. Pretty strange. But the facial girl was very nice and gave me a better massage than the massage guy 🤷♂️
While waiting between my massage and facial it took forever. We sat and waited and waited and waited. A couple next to us was served twice while we wait for one. Overall the service was rather slow and the massage was not very good.
I would not recommend this place to family or friends. 90 euros was a good price but I wouldn’t pay any more than this. Overall we left a little disappointed.
UPDATE: we returned to this hotel to celebrate a special occasion. There is no accessibility and we had to carry our stroller up the stairs with no help from anyone working here. Before doing that, we wanted to know if the Dolphin bar had champagne. I went to ask and the lady who is the bartender was extremely rude. She spoke to a man for 10-15 minutes and made me wait while she made coffee to deliver to the restaurant. When I approached her to ask, she held up her finger and told me to wait even longer, very rudely.
My wife was holding our baby outside in 100 degree weather and sun. I didn’t have 20 minutes to wait to ask a simple question. I went to the front desk and they answered my question immediately. But the bartender could not be bothered!
We decided to have a glass of champagne. We ordered from this rude bartender. We wait maybe another 15 minutes for our drinks, while she made coffee for other people who came in after us. After we asked and complained she brought us our drinks which were just sitting there.
This is unbelievably bad service from the bar. I wanted to complain to front desk manager but my wife insisted we don’t because it was a special occasion for us. This bartender is extremely slow, very rude and cannot do more than one thing every 10 minutes. I wonder how she keeps her job working so slowly?
We will never come back to this horrible place. Such a beautiful hotel with terrible bartender and stinky...
Read moreA monopoly in terms of perfect location and direct feed of thermal spa water in the hotel's swimming pool, and it shows... in the complete lack of fundamental services for guests' convenience and relaxation. This supposedly 5* hotel could only be rated 5* if it were a museum or some monument that you would want to take pictures of. April 2024, with 26C, scorching hot under the sun, and no umbrellas at all in the outside swimming pool area!!! I doubt any guest can bare to be at the pool more than an hour. The pool bar is closed, and guests who dare to sit under the sun near the pool have to rely on one sole waitress who must go to the main bar inside the building to bring a coffee or a sandwich...because if guests want to have a proper meal, they have to dress up and go to the main restaurant and sit inside! (while its heavenly weather to sit under a shade outside).... and then change into swimwear again to go to the pool. By the way, having a proper meal is only possible from 13:00 to 15:00 and from 20:00 to 23:00 - I guess it is too expensive for the owner, or too tiresome for the staff, to not only offer a 5 hour daily window for guests to eat at a supposedly 5* property. Other than that, the a/c in the rooms is not producing cool air... but guess that will be fixed in September. The hotel reeks so much of public sector ownership and management, that I was curious enough to look it up - it is actually privately- owned apparently! I guess the flow of one-time guests lured by the unique- in- the- region location and facilities, and paying €340 a night, is enough to finance the continuing "operation" of this property. More than feeling cheated on, I am feeling outraged at the complete lack of common sense on (or worse, indifference to) basic hotel guests' requirements and wishes. 0 for management, 0 for the owners (they could be making tons more money with such a unique property if they only cared enough, but no worries, kudos to them for their...
Read moreJanuary 2019 update: An overall great experience once again. Too hot once again! Breakfast is a real feast, OMG. I was told to take my very warmest clothes with me (because of the cold weather) but that was bad advice. During all my stay to the hotel, I was feeling like melting little by little, sweating all the time...! So, take light and confortable clothing with you because of the stable high temperature to all parts of the hotel (rooms, breakfast lounge, spa etc) due to the warm spring waters' surroundings. Abundant breakfast, cosy and clean rooms, wonderful thermal springs (two large swimming pools, the one is external and the other internal) but I didn't like the fountains and the sauna do not function constantly so as all the people around are satisfied. The available beauty and wellness services are so many yet too overrated! Don't even think about having a burger at the lounge cafe, it was the worst I have ever had! However, there are also healthy options like fresh fruit and veggie smoothies which are delicious. Overall, you can have a great relaxing time at this classy historical beautiful hotel with its fabulous healing thermal waters, it is worth getting the experience at least once in your lifetime! For further suchlike experiences, you can try Pozar thermal springs in the North of Greece (Aridaia), which will cost you much less and the nature around will...
