On Google this accommodation is mentioned as being a 5 star hotel but it is by no means a hotel! It is just a house and that's all. There is no service whatsoever on the premises. It says access to the beach but the nearest beach is at least a 20 minute drive by car. Also there is no daily cleaning but only twice a week, same for fresh towels. We also thought that the level of cleanness is not up to standard, we found hairs everywhere and many kitchen appliances were not clean, like the oven and the cutlery drawer. Also there is a nespresso machine but you don't get any coffee cups. When asked for coffee cups we did not get any but had to go to the nearest supermarket to get these, which is half an hour drive so it took us an hour to get some simple coffee cups. If we would have known we would have taken a few with us but it wasn't mentioned anywhere that you had to bring cups yourself. In other villas where we have been coffee cups for a nespresso machine were always supplied. Something you might expect for a rate they charge here. You have to take the car for everything and to get of the premises you need to go up a very steep road which is good to know.
As you can see on Tripadvisor the reviews are dated from 2015 and no reviews of recent years. We were here this summer of 2021 and were very disappointed. In the reviews everyone mentioned the great service of this place but there is no service at all. There are many nice villas on the island which are just as nice and that offer better service and a much...
Read moreWe visited Okeanos early this month. We were travelling with our younger kids and planned to meet our 22 year old at the villa.
We were cut off from Lefkada by the wildfires near Patras so we arrived a day late. Our elder son was already at the villa and - in the first sign of the generous, kind people that they are - Nina and Eitan looked after him, made sure he had dinner, and welcomed him. They also were in touch with the police at Patras to check if there was a way for us to travel. (There wasn’t.)
When we arrived we were overwhelmed by the quality of the villa, the warmth of the welcome, and the beauty of the place. As we spent more time we saw how thoughtfully the villa had been designed - inside and out. The outdoor space is both elegant and functional, with lots of different places to relax in the sun and in the shade. The kitchen is fully equipped (though the local taverna is willing to bring meals down to the villas too, which was lovely.) Although nearby beaches are legendary, looking at the sea from the infinity pool, down the characteristic Lefkadan steep hillside, was the best place for us.
Later in the week we had a problem to deal with urgently, and again Nina and Eitan were tremendously sympathetic, helpful and kind on helping us work out how best to resolve it.
We enjoyed them so much that we took them out to dinner locally, and heard more of their story. I won’t tell it here but these are special people who are working hard to make Okeanos special too - and...
