While visiting the gorgeous island of Andros, we stayed for 2 weeks at the Camara Suites, particularly in the Odysseus Suite. There is not a single thing that was wrong with our stay. From the very beginning, when we were welcomed by Anja, the front desk manager who not only welcomed us with her intelligent, happy disposition but provided us with a wealth of information during our stay. Anja's enthusiasm for Andros made our stay an even happier experience and her intelligence and good humor would make Anja an excellent ambassador to this island in particular, or to Greece, in general. And her staff which provided housekeeping and breakfast duties was always pleasant and courteous. Breakfast by the way, was plentiful. You could order several types of eggs, including omelets in addition to a fruit bowl, yogurt with honey and walnuts, a basket of breads with jam/butter, a plate of sweet breads, a plate of cheeses and meats, orange juice, and coffee to your taste. An amazing spread for sure. The Odysseus Suite is comprised of 3 large rooms plus a sizeable bath; a well detailed kitchen; a comfortable living room with a flatscreen TV; and a large bedroom. All three rooms have AC which is a treat! Directly off the kitchen is your own private patio which is huge by any standards. Sunning, relaxing, or entertaining, the patio is a perfect place to take that early evening drink and watch the sun set. And the beauty of the rental is the solitude and quiet of its location. Located at the very end of Chora, not far from the Venetian ruins, the Camara Suites makes for an ideal stroll at any time of day. When you visit Andros, do contact the Camara Suites and whether you stay in the Odysseus Suite or in one of their other accommodations, I couldn't imagine you'd be...

Air Conditioning that DOES NOT work, especially during a heatwave! While the air conditioning blew air, it wasnât cool and the downstairs remained at 93* degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) after four hours.
*You want to stay in an actual attic, NOT a hotel room. You canât even stand up in the bedroom! (See pictures).
*You want to climb an eight-foot ladder to get to your bedroom. (See pictures)
*You want to pay a premium price ($150) to stay in what looks more like a treehouse, rather than an actual hotel room.
During a bad heatwave, my family tried to stay for four hours to see if it would cool down, and it would not. Although we had booked for three nights, we actually chose to leave the property the same day and found an actual respectable, clean, air conditioned hotel room in BatsĂ, which was beautiful.
These people are not respectable business owners. My family actually got sick from the extreme heat in the attic (NOT a hotel room), and they refused to provide a refund.
When I called the manager and explained the situation to her and that we were leaving, she said sheâd call me back the next day. After five days of unanswered phone calls, she finally answered. She had the audacity to tell me that there was no issue with the air conditioning, and that our $450 would not be refunded.
Again, if you love getting sick from the heat, climbing up an eight foot ladder to go to an attic that you canât stand up in, and unprofessional/disrespectful owners and managers who rob you of your money, Camara Suites and Homes is the...
Read moreCamara Suites is a beautifully situated, beautifully designed boutique hotel in the main town of Andros, Greece. It's located at the far end of town, down the marble streets lined with Venetian buildings, close to the museums, restaurants, outdoor cinema, but away from the hustle bustle. In the hotel, I am familiar with only the 2 top rooms which have exceptional views overlooking a beach and the rocks from which you can dive or lounge about on. Our room was enormous with a kitchenette, sitting area, and a beautiful roof-top terrace where the most delightful breakfast was served: homemade breads, jams, cheeses, fresh-squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, meat if you prefer--all brought up to the room on a huge tray nearly as big as the lovely hotel manager, Ina. Ina is superb hostess, a vivacious, charming, energetic, and knowledgeable young woman so eager to make her guests feel at home. Well, perhaps better than at home as vacations should be at least for a time. The other room where my sister stayed has windows on two sides with a stunning view of the sea as if you're on a boat. Ina gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and beaches. We brought a map that detailed the many hiking trails not too far by car from the hotel. I've traveled to Greece many, many times and have stayed in an array of hotels, and truly, this (along with the Perianth in Athens) is my favorite hotel.||( My only wish would be for brighter lighting in the very...
