I honestly can't understand the high ratings, maybe the average tourist is fascinated by the typical Greek atmosphere with the tables on the stairs and the beautiful interior. Moving on to the food, the only thing worthy of note were the meatballs, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, taken by our children. The chips were excellent on the first go, flaccid on the second. Chickpeas in yogurt sauce, excellent but it's easy to take canned chickpeas and flavor them with a sauce. Zucchini flowers were too soft and inedible. Moussaka: very few aubergines, a mass of puree (?), wrinkled bechamel and meat of dubious quality. My wife found a bone in it. At home she vomited it all. Traditional tortilla: tasteless containing pieces of fat. Also the service of the tall guy not suitable for a place frequented by tourists. Rude, does not respond to requests and uses expressions that are intended not to disturb him. A positive mention to the young guy who accompanied us to the table and took the order, very professional and super kind. You have potential, run...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at "Τα σκαλάκια" on 26/7/2023. I made a reservation via phone, but when we arrived, the owner told us that there was no reservation under our name. She accused us of lying.
The owner's behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional. She shouted at us and demanding to leave the premise and creating a scene.
The booking system at this restaurant is clearly false. She initially persisted that we didn't have a reservation, although at some point she actually found it under a slightly different name, but she still refused to serve us. The owner is clearly not interested in serving Greek customers (the reservation was under an English name) which is a discrimination. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, regardless of their nationality.
(No comment about the food as we didn't get the chance to...
Read moreThe place itself looks really cute at first, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. When we went to the bathroom, we saw flies all over the wall, and later noticed them inside the restaurant as well, even on the paintings.
On the positive side, the sesame bread was delicious, but the musaka was just okay – not seasoned enough, and when I asked for salt it never came.
The waiters were all very kind and helpful, but sadly the owner was speaking very rudely to them, and we could hear the whole conversation. It made the atmosphere quite uncomfortable.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place, which is a shame because the staff really seem to be...
