We visited Metohi Kindelis in late May 2022 and stayed in the Kyriakos apartment. Even though I had high expectations before we arrived, these were completely exceeded upon arrival and during our stay. The building/apartment itself is absolutely beautiful. All the apartments are laid out really thoughtfully so you have a lot of peace and privacy; we barely even saw or heard another guest the whole week! For me, there were two key highlights:||||- The wonderful welcome and hospitality from Linda, Danai and the team, and the endless flow of amazing fresh fruit, avocadoes, and yoghurt for tasty breakfasts. ||||- The beautiful wildflower garden setting of the Kyriakos apartment pool. It was such a relaxing space, we hardly left the apartment all week, and we took great delight in watching the young swallows who came to drink from the pool every afternoon. ||||It's located just in the suburbs of Chania. Taxis or driving into town are easiest, but we did walk in on one day (as long as you're careful!). There's a well-stocked supermarket just a few minutes drive away, or there are some places that will deliver takeaway if you prefer. You can hardly notice the sound of the main road nearby - much more audible are the peacocks calling in the distance! ||||This is the perfect place for a relaxing escape and we cannot wait to find an...

The wonderful welcome and hospitality from Danai, Linda and the team, and the endless flow of amazing fresh fruit, avocadoes, and yoghurt for tasty breakfasts made the stay so special. We also loved spending time by our private pool, which was set in a wildflower garden, full of butterflies and birds.
The apartment contained everything we needed to cook our own simple meals, but as it's located in the suburbs of Chania, decent restaurants are not far away. We went without a car - taxis into town were fairly easy, but we did walk in on one day (as long as you're very careful on the roads!). There's a well-stocked supermarket just a few minutes drive away (or about a 20 minute walk, but roads are quite busy) or there are some places that will deliver takeaway if you prefer. Read moreWe loved this charming guest house. There are three accommodations, each with a private pool. The setting is even more beautiful than we anticipated, and we loved sitting by the pool with a glass of wine, or sitting out on our private terrace. This was such a tranquil, beautiful environment. Good wifi.
Danai, the owner of Metohi Kindelis, is so helpful and engaging. She and her (small) team helped us throughout our stay. We highly recommend ordering one of the dinner baskets and cooking for yourself, and they also provided ample delicious food for breakfast and snacks.
The location was our hesitation, and if you think you really want to be in the action of Chania, this is a bit out of the way. However, we wanted a balance of action and peace, and we rented a car for a couple of days but otherwise just took ~ten euro taxis the 10-15 min into town. There's an app that helps with booking cabs.
Highly recommend Metohi Kindelis! The overall vibe, matching the local historical architecture (Venetian Villa) and pool, with a natural setting, with comfort without super luxury, reminded us favorably of one of our favorite lodges, Sala Lodges,...
