It’s a beautiful hotel, the views incredible, rooms are clean and spacious. The pool is large and lots of sun beds, but it has ridiculously high levels of chlorine, it will turn your swim clothing yellow!!!
The general attitude is dated and poor. The only way I can explain it is that they think they are providing 5* experience and expect people to know how to act in a 5, only the hotel is not 5 the service they are providing is not 5*, staff are rude and demanding. Hardly any of the staff speak any English and German,so because they cannot understand what you’re asking or you understand what they are asking of you they become rude very quickly. We had money snatched from us, change thrown back, waiters huffing and tutting when we asked for basics like extra sugar and milk, one waiter refused us to sit in his zone even though he had empty tables, ( outside) tried to send us back inside but we refused as it was too hot, one waiter snatched my daughters doll from Her. I have never in my 20+ visits to Greece and Cyprus met a rude Greek, I met far too many this holiday! There are lots of rules, you’re given a rule sheet upon arrival that is 4 pages long, but it should Be more like 8, with all the unwritten and expected rules! I’ve been to a fair few 5* hotels and never once experienced anything like it! 4*hotels provide tea and coffee in the room, a bottle of water upon arrival and a basic fruit bowl. Not here! Everything is a way to make a few extra €€€ from you. The old guy who stands watch, is clearly stuck in his old fashioned ways and creating a very unhealthy work environment. There are the exceptions to this, the entertainment team are doing their best to provide some fun around the hotel, but they are very restricted from above, not being allowed to put much more effort or make it more. The kid’s entertainment is shocking!! At no fault of the entertainment team! The reception staff were very helpful although again, the odd person did make it feel like asking anything of them was more than what they are paid for. And the pool bar staff are great. It’s advertised as a family friendly hotel, it is not really, children are Barely tollerated by a lot of staff, expected to be seen and not heard kind of vibe, while others really try to make their holiday wonderful. the children’s offering is basic, no food considerations and the play area is in need of some restoration, in the day time it is all the wrong colours and was scolding hot. The food is ok, breakfast is your basic continental, fruit, pastries, cheese hams, eggs and sausages. Evening meal is ok, for adults you will find something to eat. The main meals are different everyday usually a pasta dish and a meat in sauce, roast potatoes and some grosse spin on a vegetable,Hence… we ate out 4 times! The snack bar is good and not too overly priced, there are chips available but this is the only Time of day. The pool bar does toasties and they will just do it as toast if you have a fussy little one.
We unfortunately had to use the drs service in the hotel and it was very good. I cannot recommend enough if you need to see her. Also the guy in the gym/ indoor pool area, he’s very friendly and helpful.
Mini bus service is good and very useful, we were in 300’s so we didn’t have too far to go, so would walk down to the pool, restaurant and to head out but little legs struggled in the evening to walk back up the hills, so we would hop on the bus. Wait time longest was about 5 mins xx
There is a now unused bar and restaurant at the very top, this is a shame because the views would be incredible. There are lots of unused spaces in the hotel that could be used to improve entertainment offerings or an alternative dining facility. The hotel needs fresh management who can bring some life and love in to the hotel! That’s it, It lacks love and a desire to see people enjoying their holiday!!!! Everything seems like too much trouble. They either need to make it adults only, 60+ and 5* or lighten up and let people have fun!!!!
We will not be returning...
Read moreDistressing Experience at Lagas Aegean Village
Our recent stay at Lagas Aegean Village was deeply disappointing, overshadowed by unacceptable conduct from hotel management, particularly the owner, Ms. Maro Lagas, as well as substandard facilities, poor service, and alarming animal welfare concerns.
Harassment and Data Privacy Violation by the Hotel Owner:
At around 12:30 AM on August 6th, Ms. Lagas called our room, shouting aggressively over a Facebook post I made regarding a starving cat on the property.
She threatened legal action for expressing concern about animal welfare, an extreme and distressing reaction.
Alarmingly, it appears she accessed our booking information using my name from Facebook to find our room number. This is a serious violation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and a breach of our privacy.
This behaviour was intimidating, highly inappropriate, and completely unacceptable from someone in a position of authority. It left us shaken and ruined our sense of safety.
Room Conditions:
The room was difficult to access, up two steep inclines and stairs.Décor was outdated, with stained bedding, poorly cleaned flooring, and overall substandard hygiene. Air conditioning emitted a persistent mouldy odour, raising concerns about air quality. Towels were small and poor in quality, and no complimentary water was provided, unexpected for a 4-star resort.
A serious ant infestation occurred during our stay, as reported by other guests as well. Despite reporting it, we were told no room change was possible and were given only bug spray.
Staff and Customer Service:
Apart from a few exceptions, service was disappointing. Several staff were rude and unhelpful. My partner was abruptly told to “sit down” when trying to get coffee at breakfast, an unacceptable tone in hospitality.
Management ignored our complaints about hygiene and comfort, making us feel dismissed and unwelcome.
Facilities:
The pool area, though attractive initially, was not cleaned regularly, dirt marks were visible around the edges. The pool closed early (6 PM), reducing usable hours for guests. Pool bar staff were disengaged and unwelcoming.
Evening entertainment was minimal and did not match what was advertised.
Food and Dining:
Dinner was a basic buffet lacking variety and failing to meet 4-star standards. Enforced dress code for men (long trousers) felt outdated and inconsistent with the resort’s casual vibe.
Breakfast was repetitive and poor in quality. Flies were often seen on buffet items, raising hygiene concerns.
Animal Welfare Issues:
Several cats on the premises appeared malnourished and neglected. Two kittens near reception were visibly underfed and without maternal care. Despite reports, hotel staff claimed ignorance, though we saw staff walk by them without any response.
After posting about these issues on Facebook, my post was deleted, and Ms. Lagas responded with threats and harassment as mentioned above.
While Ms. Lagas claimed the cats belonged to the hotel and were being fed, their condition and constant begging for food suggested otherwise.
Additional Concerns:
WiFi was unreliable throughout the resort. Other guests reported issues with room doors not locking properly, raising safety concerns. Communal areas lacked air conditioning, making them uncomfortable during hot weather.
On our last day, the courtesy room offered for showering smelled strongly of urine, and the bathroom flooded during use.
Conclusion:
Despite the resort’s scenic location, the experience was marred by poor hygiene, subpar service, misrepresentation in promotional materials, and a disturbing incident involving the hotel owner. The intimidation we experienced, paired with what appears to be a GDPR violation, left us feeling unsafe and appalled. We are now considering reporting this incident to the relevant data protection and tourism...
Read moreI would like to start by saying that I would gladly return to Lagas because it is a peaceful place where you can relax and enjoy the last days of summer, long after summer has ended in Italy. I found the resort clean and well maintained, both inside and in the beautiful outdoor areas. |The pool was lovely, there was a nearby beach with deckchairs and a kitchen which, although not particularly well-stocked, was good and offered quality food. All in all, it could have been a relaxing stay. The value for money is really good in my opinion and for all these reasons I would have liked to return...|However, there were some critical aspects that affected the serenity of the holiday and which are essentially the same complaints I read in many reviews and considered excessive before arriving at the resort. Instead, I found that they are all true and objective: the main and most serious one is having to pay for water at dinner. I'm not saying you should give me free drinks, I understand that customers could take advantage of that, but at least water should be free, after all, we are on half board. If it's because of waste, put in some dispensers, but water should be free. Instead, every evening at the end of the meal, we have to pay the bill, preferably in cash. Three euros for a 1.5-litre bottle, three euros and forty pence for 33 ml of sparkling water. Too much.||Another incomprehensible rule is that you cannot choose which table to sit at, and while I understand that you should not occupy tables with more seats than there are members in your group, honestly, seeing young and old people being reprimanded, even vehemently, on the first day of their arrival because they did not know this rule was really terrible. Some were even asked to get up and change tables with the same number of seats. Absurd. What seems like a nice gesture of courtesy on the part of the maître d' who accompanies you to your seat is actually an unquestionable order. But then on the last evening we were also reprimanded: we had a flight after dinner, so we entered the dining room with our rucksacks on our shoulders. A bottle of water was sticking out of the side pocket of one of them (which, incidentally, had been purchased in the hotel shop). Well, after greeting us and accompanying us to our table, the maître d' saw the bottle and ran after us shouting, 'No outside water on the table, no outside water on the table!'. But who put it there? It's not like we took it out of our rucksacks! It's the last night, we know the military rules of this village by now! |Then there's the sore point of the waiters' rudeness. Okay, in eight days there, I always saw the same people at breakfast and dinner without ever taking a break, and I imagine they are stressed, but apart from this justification, they are rather grumpy and rude, especially if you tell them you don't have cash to pay for drinks and have to use your card! We were subjected to several swear words and realised that one of them often insults and swears at customers in Albanian.|Every meal is then supervised by the gruff and stern gaze of an elderly gentleman who is probably the owner of the place, who visibly corrects and grumbles at the waiters and maîtres when they make mistakes. This is also a bad image. He never smiles and has obviously taught this behaviour to the receptionist staff, who I have never seen make the slightest effort to put on a fake smile. |I recommend less imposition and more respect for customers, who are not children to be educated and who come to...
