Holiday Village Kos is great, but there are a few areas that need looking at.
Overall the place is really well run, the staff are great and the Tui Holiday Village reps are fantastic. The kids entertainment is top notch.
The large restaurant has a comprehensive buffet with a huge variety of food on offer plus there are often regional variations through the week.
There are two large clean pools, and a children's splash pool with some simple slides. It's also right on a really very nice and oddly underused beach (when the pools are busy the beach is often relatively quiet, and with a nice breeze, soft sand and warm sea it's a great alternative - and literally just a 2 minute walk from the pools).
Two things that need looking at:
The hotel is generally well looked after and clean, however our room was only cleaned twice in the week, with the amount of beach use/ sand brought in and showers taken it really needs to be cleaned at least every other day. In addition, our room was a bit tired looking, it was certainly in need or some attention - the sink looked old and some light fittings were old and lose. One of the towels we were given was very old, thin and even have a hole in it. For a "superior" room you might expect a bit more room and a separate less exposed toilet.
As others have mentioned the sun lounger situation is ridiculous, you get up for breakfast as 7:30am and a large portion of the sun loungers have towels on them. The infuriating thing is that they then stay like that - often unoccupied for long periods - all day. We'd return from lunch and find a pool maybe only at half occupancy but with every sun lounger "reserved". There aren't really any other options to sit, so you just have to move on. Not entirely the fault of the hotel but they really ought to enforce the "no reserving sun loungers" rule. They'd only need to remove towels from all the unoccupied loungers once a week and people would get the message.
Anyway, neither of these are the end of the world. It's a great place overall, we've been twice - I'm not sure if we'll go again, but it's a very good option overall if you're looking for a decent very easy all inclusive with nice pools near a beach and with great kids...
Read moreStart off with the good the customer service was great and for a Greek hotel the rooms were lovely the rooms was cleaned daily there is a lot of insects roaming the grounds not the room which has a door on the balcony that works as a net. WiFi throughout and good water supply we went all inclusive and there plenty of bars so easy to get a drink there was also snacks throughout the day and the main buffet restaurant was decent for a buffet style place but would get repepative and deserts were hit and miss so try to be creative the Al a carte Greek restaurant which you can use once for free with all inclusive had very good food and definitely recommend I would also recommend going up the road to near by bars and gettjgn a gyros. The beech opposite great views amazing. Evening entertainment felt like a mix between cbeebies land couple of quiz and couple of dance action CJ I think his name was definitely my favourite entertainer does really good. But the programme itself could do with more variety they did have a couple of good local bands as well. There is a multitude of pools but trying to to get a sun bed is near impossible this needs managing better as yes it's it's arrogance of people putting sun towels down but a few signs prohibited this night deter a few or get more sun beds. The arcade machines need expanding a little but we're fun the near by shop was useful and welcoming the football pitch nice touch and the pinball tables pool tables and little play ground. All in all a few tweaks would make the place great but it's not bad at all and very...
Read moreHouse keeping is 100% ,pools, food, amenities are same, beach bar and snacks as expected, though if your an ale drinker expect to have a dry/soft drink vacation. Perfect house keeping though, plenty of pools and bar's, snacks etc, everywhere you go....sadly the list for drinks is limited to those who drink local lagers and spirits, entertainment is adequate, childrens play area was hand cleaned and spot checked twice-per day, pools and poolsides are similarly spotless and kept clean throughout the daytime/night and then power jet washed at 6.30 am everyday, food is catered for every taste and custom, freshly poached egg's,egg's of every kind as an example ,bacons sausages, fruits, cereals and biscuits and more just for breakfasts, too many choices to list, dinners are the same, too many to list and "chef specials" cooked to order in situ, only let down is the ampitheatre in my mind too dangerous as kids will climb and seats are very inviting for those who will....room had a view to childrens pool, ampitheatre, main dinid room, adults pools, and childrens creche, climbing wall, football pitch and was one of the best for those alone, 121 if your reading and interested, housekeeping I cant admire or condone enough, spot on, helpful and friendly, park/childrens play area was even intensively cleaned daily by hand and then inspected twice...all pools and area's were the same...cant find fault aside from ampitheatre and dangerous seating and top row hand rail disappearing after first...
