Tommy turbine review that got taken down by trip advisor
ps my honest review below in my opinion which i am entiltled to like every body else
1, I chose this particular hotel because of the great reviews That I had read ,,, I would say that I am easily pleased person and not one of these moaners who moan about everything and anything,,I am entiltled to my very honest opinion like anybody else,, I tell it how I see it
okay first thing first regarding this particular 5 hotel star establishment,,IT IS DEFINITELY NOT A 5 star,,hotel,, at best may be a 3 star and that is pushing it,I suggest they go and have a look at royalton bavaro in Dominican republic..then they would be embarrassed to call themselves 5 star..establishment
2, after getting up at 2.30am to make our flight at 6.30,am from Manchester we arrived at kos airport about 12.30,, midday day and it was scorching hot so we decided to get a taxi..so we could arrive at this hotel as speedily as possible to get the luggage in the room and get changed into suitable clothing..we arrived at hotel at 13.00 .and guess what room wasn't ready, so we had to hang around for anouther 1 hour 50 mins . also you had to wait for these buggies to take you room,, by this time i am tired hot and most of all wasting a few hours hanging around needlessly..I would love to see if the shoe was on the other foot if the management from there travelled from kos to uk earley hours in morning to arrive at there hotel and there room wasn't ready and see how would they like it..so now I am starting to get a bad feeling about this place...
3, when we finally got changed and went by the lower pool area,,I felt like a beer I ordered 2 beers and the beer look like it had a bit of life in it, by the time i walked back to the pool area where i was sitting and i sat down to drink it and it was as flat no life in it what so ever.i took one sip of of and it was like piss water, so of course that got thrown away, then I tried to order a barcardi and was told I could not have that either As I had to be premier /premium,, 😂😂😂😂😂
I was then informed by these jokers that I had to pay a further £60 euros a day for me and my partner so we could have a few branded shorts so I tried there house barcardi,,again woeful that got binned,, the draft coke tasted like syrup as the mixer every bar I tried here the beer was lifeless,,I ended up paying for the cornona beer which was 3 bottles for 9 euros what a disgrace... am supposed to be all inclusive
4,, It said on the overview for hotel it was a bit hilly,,,that is an understatement ..I didn't realise that you had to be a Sir Edmund Hillary, he was a experienced mountaineer,,or I would have done some treks up and down Ben Nevis or Snowdonia to get fit before I came out here... also I would have packed a good sturdy pair of hiking boots and a set of hiking sticks ,you could phone reception on 9 for a buggy the average time for that is about 30-40 mins.. I think this hotel would better off with a cable car stopping off at various pick up points from reception at the top of the peiste down to the lower car park by the main road,, in fact if this hotel used it's loaf it could stay open all year round.. if they purchased a couple of snow machines for the winter months it's has the potential for a ski resort from end of October till when ever it opens up for the summer and there would be no need to go the kloysters in the Swiss alps..
5,,,It said in the overview in the jet 2 website there was a beach over a quite road 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣..the beach was a slab of rocks,,,the road was a narrow lane with coaches, cars, motor bikes, buggies, quad bikes hurtling up and down, I think you would get more peace and quiet sitting next to the m62 on a sun lounger inosteeltoebefore and after you entered the sea.we had to walk 20 mins to a nice beach in kardamena outside faros restraunt I had to spend my hard earned cash to eat and...
Read moreIt's night outside, I'm usually asleep at this time, especially on vacation. But not tonight. I tried to get a bottle of water at this hotel in the evening and I was chased from the bar to the reception and from the reception to the bar, and then to the room for money, or an empty bottle from the trash to fill it with water for free. Or pay 60 coins for half a liter of water. Because this is an eco hotel, it turns out. It's rules (by the way, no one warn me about it before). You can't use a lot of plastic. And they don't have glass bottles, because it's expensive, so the barman explained to me. For coke, sprite is not expensive, for water it is expensive. Someone will explain to me how a bottle for money differs from a bottle for free, which I will throw in the same bin, and it will be taken for recycling. I paid for the all-inclusive package. I could get free alcohol, coke, and sprite at the bar, which I don't use, but not water. Or a paper cup with water. By the way, paper is made from trees. The hotel doesn't care about those trees cut down for paper cups? The hotel has a couple of water coolers in the restaurant. There are not always glasses, and there is always a puddle near them. Restaurants are open until 9:30. there are no coolers with water anywhere in the halls or corridors. It seems that the hotel just earns additional money on water, and there is nothing ecological here. It is not very convenient to carry a paper cup through the hotel, then the elevator, then your floor, and a glass of water is not enough to make tea and just drink water. I did climb into the trash can, and took out the bottle (I'm for ecology!), and I took the money. And I stayed without water this night. Because the empty bottle remained on the bar counter. Because the barmens, instead of filling it silently, brought me to tears, out of a sincere desire to help, they dragged me to the reception desk to ask the whole world that since I don't drink anything but water, they gave me additional bottles of water for free. It was humiliating and insulting that a bottle of water was more important to them than my mood, a spoiled vacation. And accordingly, which all-inclusive can we be talking about, or which five-star hotel are we talking about, if I have been carrying empty bottles or glasses of water since the day of my arrival. Even in four-star hotels, I did not encounter such problems. I kept quiet about the hair in the bathroom, on the bathtub and near the bathtub on the day of my arrival. I kept quiet when my room was not cleaned the next day and the same free water was not brought. I kept quiet about the fact that I have a hole the size of a fist in my bedsheet. That it is impossible to go out onto the balcony for half a day until the sun hides because there is no canopy or roof, although other buildings have them, etc. I guess I was wrong to keep quiet. That is why I am crying now. PS. Usually, I do not tell that there is a war in my country, and that I live and work with content about our war abroad. I work hard, like everyone else. I wanted to rest a little and distract myself in order to gain strength and continue to work, and bring our victory closer. Usually, we ask for weapons. We still learned to ask for water. I will go and buy in the store tomorrow. And I will take you to my five-star hotel on a high...
Read moreTHE STAFF We would like to shout out to Tom, Dom, and Vasia at Bar Alasarna, who all went out of their way to ensure that we had an amazing stay. Always smiling, even in +33°C heat and running drinks to us at all hours of the day. Based on these 3 staff members alone, our stay was fantastic and I honestly felt sad to be leaving after a week. We also compliment the rest of the staff as well, but these 3 were especially key to us having a great stay. Staff is very attentive and never was a request left unfulfilled.
THE ROOM We had a 3rd floor twin room (with a double bed) that was adjacent to the reception building. This meant that we were at the top of the hill overlooking the entire resort, an amazing view of the sea and Kardamaina town in the distance. Room was in a quiet location with a nice bathroom, amazing airconditioning (set that to full blast 18°C in 35°C heat and you'll be nice and cool in just 2 minutes!), and comfortable bed. We had a fridge that had free bottled water refilled most days. Cleanliness on arrival was a bit subpar, but it wasn't anything that bothered me too much. The cleaner did visit every day, so this actually improved as we went on.
THE HILL This information is very important for those who have mobility issues. If you intend to stay on-site for the duration of your stay, you will be perfectly positioned nearer the reception and main restaurant (Mediterana). If you wish to visit Kardamaina or otherwise leave the hotel, then from reception you have a walk of approximately 8-10 minutes through the hotel complex and down a VERY steep hill. I cannot stress the steepness of the hill enough, I am a fit 35 year old and at times I was struggling when temperatures were peaking at 34-35°C and we had to walk UP the hill to get back to our room or the main restaurant. If you are desperate, you will see golf carts driving around that can carry 5 passengers (if 2 of them are kids) and you can call the reception to be picked up from your room or taken to a location with the complex at any time. During hot spells, these carts are very much in demand, so the advertised 5-minute response time may be a little longer.
THE FOOD It was overall pleasant, but on some evenings the meal selection was a little repetitive. After 3 days, I think we had already experienced the full abilities of the kitchen, despite staying for a week. The Panorama restaurant offers international cuisine and is often the same ingredients as the Greek menu at Mediterana just with a different sauce, e.g. Madeira sauce for Spanish night.
AIRPORT TO HOTEL Airport to hotel taxi cost 20 euros for two people and two suitcases. Taxi rank is outside arrivals.
KARDAMAINA The town is heavily focused on tourism with many bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. While there is a small mini market at the hotel, there is a supermarket called Manos at the beginning of the main town centre. Aside from the organised boat trips to nearby islands, there didn't seem much to do there other than eat and drink (fine by me!)
OVERALL A good experience made great by the staff and the beautiful...
