Erivolos apartments have beautiful views of the bay. I had a studio apart with a lounge area plus balcony. Clean and well appointed although the configuration in the bedroom meant it was somewhat cramped with two.||Erivolos is an attractive set of apartments run well by its hosts in a superb setting. It has a 15 m swimming pool (with a small, separated end for children) and a lounge area overlooking the surrounding bays. I think this location is more attractive than most that are nearby. However, I wouldn’t completely agree with the review of the food. it was satisfactory, various types of Greek bread including the biscuit type bread. When you ask for toast you get a toasted ham sandwich and Greeks seem to think that marmalade means an assortment of jam- confusing, perhaps this is a communication problem on my part. No cereals and surprisingly no fresh juice. More imagination is required I think. Some courses were adequate but a few were lacklustre- use of oven heated chips, burger meat of an ‘Iceland’ type. I would have liked to see more variety of traditional, freshly cooked meals.||The dining area overlooks the bay and beyond. Sitting out on balcony at night is a treat-so it has many things going for it. Wi fi is provided although coverage is limited in the morning.||However, bear in mind although the address states Agia Pelagia this is not. It may be in that area but you have a mountain in between. This is Ligaria bay with small hotels and apartments built or in the throes of being built, ( they are not finished not because of financial reasons but for the custom of building for children near the parents home so there is no time limit) they are clinging precariously to the mountain sides with steep walks everywhere but that is usual for Crete. There are no buses unless you trade over the mts. to the main road-although if you walk up the hill to the Athena Palace Hotel,(about 1.5m) there are buses that take you to Irakleio at 9:45, 15:00, 17:55, and return from Heraklion bus station at 09:15, 14:30, 17:30 and 22:00. Cost is 7€.||Breakfast will cost 7.50 euros and dinner 9-20 euros. I have attached a menu. Occasionally Vacilli and Lisa have a special eg. Red snapper and the price is 20€ for 3 courses, this was excellent so it can be done. However it must be noticed that this establishment expects cash for most items as is the case most places in Crete whether on buses restaurants museums. This is because of the financial problems Greece is encountering. It is not yet as fully conversant with cards as in the uk etc||Be aware that Erivolos has a 50-60 degree climb with a 45 degree on the road so not for the infirm. It is also not 150 metres to beach as it states on one brochure, unless you jump off the hill ! Otherwise it is just over a mile to walk from the apartment to the far end of the bay where the one supermarket is.||||Depending on your expectation for a Greek holiday, the beach is perfect for swimming and lounging in the sun. The bay is mostly sandy (which quite a few of Cretan beaches are not) although the eastern end (Erivolos side) are prone to waves and there the beach is slightly stony . It is secluded yet seems to have a gentle breeze blowing most times of day. Plenty of sun lounges and the beach (in places) is gently sloping for children. It is clean and easily the best around the whole area judging by the local families who use it. when I went at the beginning of June pretty empty with temperatures around 25 degrees.but bear in mind that on Sundays local Greek families flock to the beach.||||Greece has flung off the cheap prices that once it had yet it is still a poor country with basic amenities and infrastructure. You will see live electrical cables and water lines lying exposed and although squat toilets are gone you still cannot flush the paper down the toilet in the majority of places.||||The tourist trip to Knossis has a 7:20 start - you will be the first pick up so it takes 2 hours picking up others however you get the chance to see parts of the hinterland that one wouldn’t normally get the opportunity.(it takes 30 minutes to return!||Trip tip Laithisi etc + meal was great. Well worth it.||Visit to Heraklion worth it!||Fortress+archeological museum excellent. Every Thursday and Saturday an open air market -- out from bus terminal turn right ,one kilometre until the archeological museum on your right, into the large plaza/roundabout, keep park on right, up past the war memorial. After 2 km turn left down to Itanou 11, 713 07.An amazing array of fresh vegetables, fish etc filled with locals.||||Please note:||** over 65’s get half price admission to most attractions but show identity evidence if you are in EU.||Taxi = 35 € to to and from the airport (Irakleio)- ** On arrival I apologised to the taxi driver for being late, he replied don’t worry, EasyJet are always late. ||At Heraklion airport there are three speeds-slow,dead...

The pool is in good condition and of good size, and the room, even if a bit old fashioned, was quite spacious.||||What made a very bad impression on us was the bad service we received and the difficult access to the place. ||||Bad service:||The day before we left was a very hot day. Coming back from the beach we went in for a shower. The water was coming out hot. I went in second to shower and the water was still hot even if my sister had showered before me. I left the water to run, but even a few minutes later it was still difficult to stay under the water due to the heat. Somehow I finished my shower, with hot water throughout. ||||On the last day, and after we had paid in full for the room, I mentioned the hot water incident to the owner/manager. To my surprise all he said was that we didn't let the water run enough and that "me and my family had showers with cool water yesterday so this can't be the case" (note that the owners live in the premises). I insisted more, only to find him growing even more defensive and non-apologetic. He even said that I'm quarrelsome (εριστικός in Greek). Outrageous to say the least. Not only did we have hot showers after a hot day at the beach, we had our host, in short, calling us liars in front of our face. It all would have ended if they instead said "we're really sorry for this, we'll look into it". ||||Difficult access:||What's not evident from the nice pictures of the place is the difficult access to it and the very uncomfortable/inconvenient parking spaces it offers. It sits on a steep hill so walking up to it from the beach is, let's say... a nice workout. Also the parking spaces it offers are on a big incline. Getting in and out of the car was quite uncomfortable and I guess this will be much worse for a family with kids or for more senior people.||||I would suggest you consider these things before making a reservation to this place.
