This place was probably nice once, perhaps when the minoans were about, but hasn't been invested in for a long time. Bali is a great destination and we had a good time in spite of the accommodation not because of it. - the pool was the colour of milk, you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. - we booked for 5 people and looked like there would be 3 bedrooms. However there were only 2 meaning someone had to sleep in the kitchen/ living room. - there was only AC in one bedroom - when there was water (quite often there wasnt) it was a trickle and mostly only cold - no kettle, toaster etc. Tried to boil some water on the hob and gave up after 45 minutes - the bunk bed was unsafe. The slats under the top bunk weren't screwed down and one of them fell out when one of my kids got into bed. The safety rail to stop person in top bunk also not attached and dangerous. - food was generally OK but not inspiring - most of the staff looked like they would rather be someplace else although were pleasant. There wasn't really anyone in charge. - the hot tub looked like it had been dry for years -the bar area was similarly dry, in fact, closed. This place really must have been lovely at some point and all the infrastructure and visual appeal is still there. It just needs someone to invest a lot of money and care into the place to return it to its former glory.

It looks like a beautiful location, but in fact things are just the other way around. I think the following things/services could be improved. Some examples would be: the heavy smell in the rooms - aired more often, replacing the extra armchairs as beds with real beds, changing the light bulb in the refrigerator in the room, cleaning the rooms daily because there are ants, spiders and house centipedes. Daily replenishment of toilet paper and shower accessories would be a nice thing to happen. At breakfast and dinner there was a heavy smell that sometimes greeted you upon entering. The cake cover is torn and dirty, the cereal jars are dirty, the cutlery and plates are sometimes dirty, the napkins are given with the portion, the coffee is more of a hot water, the water dispenser can is old, and the food should be diversified. There was no zoo, just a few rabbits, 2 cats, a few turkeys, a horse and a pony, and the setting was sad and dusty. There are also owls that fly around the yard in the evening and catch mice. Unfortunately, the swimming pools are without water recirculation, and the playgrounds I saw were closed, probably to be renovated. The staff is apparently friendly until you call their attention that things are not ok. I am convinced that this location can look better and be at least 3 stars.

I stayed at Stone Village Hotel in Bali and I can honestly say it was one of the nicest experiences. The staff were extremely kind and welcoming, always smiling and ready to help with anything we needed. They really make you feel at home and that makes a big difference during the stay. The location is great as it’s very peaceful and surrounded by nature, but at the same time close to the beach and the center of Bali. You can walk or take the little train, so it’s very easy to get around. The atmosphere of the place with the stone houses and gardens is really beautiful and relaxing. The food was also excellent. Breakfast and dinner had plenty of choice, everything tasted fresh and homemade. Even when we arrived late, they made sure we had something to eat, which we really appreciated…it’s a place with a warm feeling, not just a hotel. I would recommend it to anyone who wants friendly people, good food, and a nice location in Bali. If you’re not an animal lover please don’t go there. We came across some unacceptable behaviour from other guests that were annoyed by the existence of animals and cats walking around. Remember you’re a guest and you’re walking in their place not the other way round..you don’t get to dictate what the place will look like.

Usually, I do not make reviews wherever I go, but this is a necessity in order to warn everybody. 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗔 𝗥𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗠!!!! Before I get to the main point, I wanted to outline the fact that till the last day, when my girlfriend and I encountered the RAT, everything was pretty normal. So, first of all, when we arrived at the location, the son of the owner of the hotel greeted us and took us to our rooms. At the first glance, everything seemed ok, but after we started to empty our bags, we noticed that under our bed there was a lot of dust and a damp smell came from the closet. We overlooked these, because the cleaning lady came the next day and wiped the dust. Also, just as a side note, the cleaning lady came only 2-3 times in 7 days, and the bed sheets where changed only once:). Even though, we saw some bad reviews regarding the food, we were pleased by it, because we are not so pretentious. It was enough for us. Every morning there were scrambled eggs and some cheese, ham, jam, milk and cereal, vegetables. In the evening, the food was different every day, and there were 2-3 options to choose from. Once again, as I mentioned before, the food was very tasty and good. Now, coming back to the room, I will start by saying that the bathroom was very old, and in the first 2 days, we had to talk with some guy that worked there in order to have hot water, but then the rest of the days was fine. Also, because the bathroom was very damped and wet after we took a shower, every day we had to clean the bathroom of slugs:) and it became very disgusting at some point, as there were 2-3 at the same time in the bathroom and in the bath tub (see the photos). Now, the room was fine, but there were some small black things, which we thought were some larvae, as the roof was made out of wood (eventually, in the last night we googled it and figured it out that it was rat poop (again, in the photos) ). We took care of the "larvae", but it kept appearing more and more. In the last night, we went to bed at around 12pm, as we had the transfer bus to the airport at 5:30am, next morning. But, at around 1am, I heard some noises coming from the TV, and when I opened the lights, there it was: 𝗔 𝗛𝗨𝗚𝗘 𝗥𝗔𝗧!!! We ran straight out of the room and called the owner, because after 11pm, there was nobody at the reception:) I told him there was a rat in our room and he told me that he will sent his son, but he will arrive in 20-30 minutes, as they stay far away. After he arrived, he tried to dodge us and just give us another room. But we could not let him slide like that and said everything that we had to tell, at 1:30am:). He said that he can not do anything, just to give us another room. Of course we didn't want to stay in another room, especially since we noticed rat poop on the floor there too. We left our bags and waited for the next three hours on the terrace until the bus came to take us to the airport. The owner's son seemed to me to have a learned speech, the one he gave us, and he didn't seem aware of how dangerous and disgusting it is to be with a rat in the room. At one point, his words were "You know.. here, it is normal" and after we gave him a bad look he said "it is not normal, but we try our best", which seems unacceptable to me for a 4 star hotel, not even for a one star. I still can't imagine what we experienced that night, but also in what an infected environment we stayed for 7 nights. At that hotel there were a lot of families with children who didn't even know what dangers were around them. I don't think I need to say how dangerous the rats are, how many diseases they can transmit, not only by their bite but also by the simple fact that we have lived for so many nights with one or many of them. I was deeply disappointed by this situation that I will certainly not forget. We do not say that you should not go there, but I think that you can make a good judgement after what we have been through and make a...

Never again! Unfortunately, I can't recommend this hotel because it doesn't match the price. I'm disappointed! The hotel was built about 10 years ago and has not been improved since then. Negative aspects: WIFI for a week of rest we never received a WIFI password, there is NO WIFI in the rooms!!! The hotel staff never explained the reason why the password does not fit. There is NO mobile communication on the territory!!! Swimming pools. There are 2 small pools without water filtration, with a huge chlorine content. Naturally, the water is opaque, milk-coloured in which we couldn't swim. Buffet (breakfast and dinner) all dishes are monotonous, only some were cooked well, for which many thanks to the cook! Salad vegetables were often spoiled because they were stored cut outside the refrigerator for a long time. Only melon and watermelon are made of fruit. The dining room has old furniture, dirty windows and no air conditioning - it spoils appetite! The room is decorated in Greek style, but not cosy at all - the blankets and the bed were worn out, but clean. There are ants in the room. The balcony cannot be used because it is loosely attached to the wall, and the floor is made of wooden beams that have dried up and wear out.

The children's room is dirty, only table football and billiards (paid) from entertainment. The playground is not suitable for children's games, as most swings and sports equipment are not fixed and worn out, which makes it dangerous. -The beach. The walk to the beach is 10-15 minutes and is a good physical activity, BUT there is no completely pedestrian path and crossing!!! We had to go on the road with passing cars.

Positive aspects: The territory of the hotel is dotted with flowering shrubs, flowers, palm trees, basil and a huge number of different plants. Beautiful view of the mountains. Friendly staff who always smiles. Dear hotel owner, doing business is unfair! The hotel requires reconstruction and modernisation! People come to you with great hope to enjoy your vacation and alas get...
