We arrived late to the hotel and checked in as normal, and were shown to our room. Once inside we were horrified by the smell and also the state of disrepair that the room was in so I immediately went back to reception and asked if it would be possible to change. The lady advised me I would need to speak to reception the following morning. As advised I went to reception at 9am only to be greeted by a very unhelpful man who not only didn’t seem to be able to provide an answer but was exceptionally rude - I therefore firmly requested that our room be changed and at 11am I was shown to a different room which was much more what I had expected. The hotel looks like the pictures however it is very dated and in all honesty, could do with a make over. The pool was not cleaned whilst we were there, there was a broken rail on the poolside, there are no locks on public toilet facilities and several other things we spotted. Towels are only changed after the 3rd day, ours didn’t get changed, I had to request them and then our dirty ones remained on the floor in the bathroom for the rest of the stay. Bin in the bathroom was not emptied daily and obviously in Greece they request you do not flush paper down the toilet, therefore emptying this is a necessity!! |All this aside, we did have an enjoyable holiday. Food was ok, not the best but there was always something to eat, even if it was the same as the day before! The staff were friendly, shame the same couldn’t be said about the guests, for the first 4 days, we were the only English couple! No fighting for sunbeds, always a table in the restaurant which had stunning views over the bay. If you have any mobility issues then this is definitely NOT the hotel for you! Actually, it is not the resort for you either. The hotel is remote but only a short walk down to the sea where there were bars and restaurants then a little further and you were into the main area of Bali. This is all ok but there are some steep hills and steps which is why I mention mobility issues.|So all in all a lovely holiday with a few minor issues but then came the last day. We had an evening flight so requested a late check out, I felt that the reception guy (the same one as I had previously encountered) was just making it up but we did manage to keep our room until later. |As we headed down to reception to check out I proceeded to use the ramp next to the steps to go down with my suitcase, I wish I had taken the stairs as unfortunately, despite wearing trainers, I slipped and subsequently broke my ankle. The hotel had absolutely no idea what to do in this situation, there was no first aid available and basically I sat on the floor where I fell for an hour waiting for an ambulance which no-one really knew how long it was going to take to arrive. I have no idea if the hotel completed and documentation about the incident , I certainly didn’t see or sign anything. I have not been contacted by the hotel despite my email to them - probably the responsibility of the same unhelpful man on reception!!!|I would however like to thank the two lovely guests who looked after me - even when the paramedic tried to...
Read moreJust arrived back after a weeks stay at Bali mare|I will start with the few good points |The food was good and had a good range of choice something for everyone, the drinks were also good I didn’t know there was cocktails till the last day because I think they pick and choose when they want to do them. The views are amazing and looks very pretty. Most of the restaurant staff are very welcoming and do a really good job to keep the restaurant clean and will speak to you around the hotel if they see you. ||Now for the not so good.|We arrived at 3 am to be met by a man on reception he wasn’t majorly helpful, he did take us to the room but didn’t say anything just there’s the room, we had to go back in the morning to pay the tourism tax for the week and there is no all inclusive wristbands or cards anyone could just walk in off the street and use what little facility’s the hotel has.|There is no entertainment whatsoever and they play very loud music everyday which is the same 5 songs on repeat and some of the songs are not appropriate to be playing when kids are around.|On love holidays website it states there is|A cafe, jacuzzi, billiards, gym, tea and coffee making facilities and a kids playground, there are none of these whatsoever the hotel has a tennis court but looks abandoned.|Hotel staff are rude the chef pointed at me and shouted oi oi plate and pointed at a plate. The bar staff was rude on the first night but was okay after I felt bad for him as he was in every morning at 7:30 and had a break around 2- 7 again and was back till 11/12 maybe even later. The younger staff did make you feel more welcomed. |No major transport links it’s a miles walk from the hotel up the mountain for the bus there’s a little land train that stops outside the hotel which takes you to the other end of Bali which isn’t to bad of a price. If you go to this hotel definitely hire a car. There are excursion places is the town too. |No snack bar another guest asked the bar staff where snack bar was he went storming off and came down with breakfast left overs.|Our room was dirty used plaster on the stairs, exposed drains because drain cover was missing or loose, the room had ants crawling around the edge, there was a red stain on the curtains, the tv was also not secure to the wall and was missing screws. The bed got changed once in our whole stay and the bin was emptied once but no bag put into the bin luckily we had one but wasn’t emptied again for the next 5 days. The pool was filthy had grime around the edges and full of dirt, there was also a massive wasps nest outside of the reception.|Bali mare is not a 4 star hotel at all , at best I’d say it’s a 2 star. |I...
Read moreThe hotel is clearly not up to 4-star standards, barely making it to 3 stars. When we checked into the room, there was no trace of cleanliness; it felt like they just changed the sheets at most. The toilet seat was ripped off, and the glass doors to the bathroom and balcony were extremely dirty, making it unpleasant to touch them. Instead of blankets, we were given sheets, but one of them looked like a worn-out rag, almost see-through. The actual blanket was in the closet, with frayed edges hanging off it. The shower was old and moldy, as were the mirrors—everything was unclean. During our 7-day stay, the floor was mopped only once, and towels were changed three times. On the balcony, water from the air conditioner dripped into a 1.5-liter bottle, which filled up very quickly. The food selection was very modest, definitely not up to 4-star standards. After a day, you get used to it and know what you can take. The staff is few and tired. Often, the glasses were poorly washed, as were the utensils. The water in the pools was very murky, especially in the children's pool. A major downside is the road to the sea: you have to cross a two-lane road, there is no pedestrian crossing, and the hotel is located right on a turn, so cars are often not visible.||On the plus side: the hotel grounds are very beautiful in a Greek style, each room has either a balcony or a terrace, there are clothes dryers, a lovely garden, and a view of the sea and mountains. It seems that the hotel could be very good if it were properly maintained. However, it is currently neglected and in need of renovation, at least in the bathrooms. I was also surprised by the situation when my son needed medical assistance. I went to the reception for help contacting my insurance, and while we were figuring out how to help my child, the receptionist asked us to leave the reception area and wait for the ambulance outside, as he was closing and going home. So, at half past eleven at night, I sat on the steps with my child, waiting for the ambulance. It is quite strange to me how the hotel reception can close at 11 p.m.||In short, I do not recommend this hotel; you can find a better one for...
