Eleni’s village suites was on the last leg of our tour of the Islands in Greece. ||We arrived in the afternoon and took a transfer(36 euros for 3 people) from the port. One can easily take the local bus which would cost about 1,80 to 2,30 euros, but we didn’t know that then.||We were welcomed at the village suites by Ewe and were shown to our accommodation. This was the only place where we stayed that had a stove, cookware, cutlery cups, coffee maker etc. This meant that we could actually prepare meals as eating out in restaurants in Greece can become very expensive as our rand(zar) was 1/20 against the euro.||The accommodation was close to the local bus stop. Just down the road was a supermarket which was very inexpensive and we bought all the necessary stuff to have a decent meal which cost less than 15 euros and that was enough for 3 people. Where we paid for a steak 18 euro at the restaurant on the corner.||Even though the suites r close enough to the port it is not close enough to walk.||We also were served a complimentary buffet breakfast the 2 mornings that we were there. Lovely fruit, cereals, breads, cookies, coffee and juice. U could eat as much as u wanted.||We took the bus down to the port and explored Mykonos, old city and little Venice. The area was beautiful. Lots of restaurants along the walkways and the beach. U could also swim .||Eleni’s Village suites were very clean and comfortable. WiFi was good especially to connect with family at home. Unfortunately there were no pool at the place as it was quite warm. ||The surrounding area is quite dry and...
Read moreOur last morning in the hotel we took 4 slice of bread and some cheese for a later snack because we were not really hungry at the moment. The owner of the hotel who sat right behind us starting to shout in Greek and even threw a pen angrily on the table, one does not need to know how to speak Greek to know that something was wrong and for the way other guests (who obviously spoke Greek) looked at us, we deduced it was related to us.
The owner who speaks fluent English did not have the professionalism or decency to come an tell us what we did wrong but instead sent the janitor who does not speak English at all to try to explain to us that we cannot take thing out of the kitchen.
I do not argue the hotel kitchen rules (which were not explained to us at arriving) but I did not pay almost 800 euros for 6 days to have to put up with an aggressive tantrum from the hotel’s owner. We as polite and reasonable people would have apologized, returned the bread or paid for it, if he had had the decency to approach us in a professional way.
The other fact I would like to point out is that if you tried to get a warm shower at night unfortunately I will not possible, the water at night is barely above cold, you can only get warm water in the morning.
Even though, I acknowledged that the room was huge and clean, the janitor and the kitchen lady were friendly, I would not recommend the place due to the unpleasant experience with the owner and his rude behavior toward us, cold water and overall location that without renting a car there is not much...
Read moreAs we planned our travels to many places - we kept our lodging budget in mind. We found Elias Village suites and it matched what we were looking for; especially after reading the reviews. However, the hotel is located approximately 3km from Mykonos City (Old Port). The average cost of a Taxi is $20euros if you are lucky. I do not recommend renting a car as parking in the city cost approximately $10 euro and without paying to park is extremely limited.
There is one restaurant conveniently located to the hotel (Healthy Pelican) which was good but only offered sandwiches, coffee, and organic protein shakes which was great. But it does close at 8 pm. The hotel offers a continental breakfast which is subpar at a rate of $10euro a day.
The rooms are comfortable and are portrayed well online.
WIFI!!! It did not work the entire stay and was extremely frustrating as we did not plan to use data internationally (from the USA.) All of our other stays had reliable wifi. We informed the receptionist each day with no results but an answer "wifi is bad in the area."
Overall, I wish I would have read a detailed review that outlined how remote the hotel is. Ultimately we spent the same amount on transportation as we would have if we stayed in the city.
If you are looking for a relaxing time away from the city and the beaches this is the...
