Disclaimer - I visited here with a school party and so I am aware that I open myself to the charge of hypocrisy.||||Noise is the biggest factor in this hotel. It echoes and reverberates around the whole building and so I can sympathise with any 'normal' guests who find themselves here at the same time as a school group. I would urge anybody thinking of staying here to check carefully that they are not sharing the hotel with such a party.||||The rooms are OK for what they are - the bed was reasonably comfortable. The fridge didn't work, however, and there was only one spare pillow. The locks on the window were substandard and I didn't feel as if I could leave anything in the room. The bathroom was very cramped and the shower was temperamental. ||||We were booked half-board. Breakfast was reasonable - the croissants were tasty and the apricot jam too. Dinner was disappointing, though, with the options limited. I have to say that service was good, however, with a very friendly waitress being most accommodating to our party. ||||This is a very basic hotel and I cannot recommend it to private travellers. I can see why it accepts school groups as these tend to be less discerning - just be careful that you avoid these otherwise you will get little in the...
Read moreThis hotel sets a new standard for service - all bad. From the outside where it has been renovated the hotel looks great but it is a rapid downhill run from there. The service is appalling. We had a pre-booked party of 33 people. The internet was configured to accept 12 connections. When I complained the person told me to wait 15 minutes. I did and still nothing. A further complaint and he said "there was nothing he could do". I then found the TV did not work. I rang again. He came and checked and confirmed it did not work. He said he would speak to his boss. It was replaced in due course. Still no internet. The meal was of a similar standard - dreadful. A la carte with 2 settings of pasta, over cooked squid and bread and tomatoes with some fruit. When my wife went to get some watermelon there were only scraps remaining. She brought this to the attention of the waiter and was told that was all there was. The shower was out of the dark ages. It was a head connected by a flexible tube type. The water came out of about 6 holes. The rest were non-functional. It was a real challenge to get ourselves clean. Breakfast was equally disappointing. Oh yes, the internet still did not work in the morning. I would have preferred to camp...
Read moreI was there as a teacher with a group of school kids 5 years ago. The rooms are clean, the swimming pool is small, the beach is near, although you have to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas, kids didn't have money to pay for these, so they got sunburnt. The food choice was really limited (there was some limited choice for breakfast and no choice for dinner, kids had to eat what they were served by impolite staff and pay for drinks, which they and their parents had not been aware of prior to the stay). The travel agent made the whole group pay for the air conditioning, which the kids and their parents had not been notified of prior to the trip either, despite the manager claiming first we didn't have to pay for this as airconditionig was free in his hotel. Later, however, the manager changed his mind and said that we did have to pay for this, which seemed a total scam. ||Altogether, Tolo is a great place to go, nicely located, with a nice beach, shallow and transparent sea with a beatiful colour, the town is nice. ||The hotel might be noisy as there seem to be a lot of school trips coming with kids screaming, running and...
