My partner and I booked a stay at Iris Apartments in Stegna, and unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst travel experiences we’ve had.
At first glance, the property looked nice—just like the photos. The host greeted us briefly, handed us the key, and left. Within 20 minutes of unpacking, we spotted a huge bug crawling from under the bed. We tried not to overreact—it’s just one bug, right? We left for dinner, bought bug spray just in case, and returned later.
That’s when things got worse.
We saw the bug again, sprayed it, and realized it was a cockroach. We then found several more in the bathroom. We ended up killing around 10 cockroaches and messaged the host immediately. No response. The room was filled with the smell of bug spray, completely unlivable. We had no choice but to leave. We contacted the host multiple times and even called, and he never responded
We contacted Booking.com, and the host refused a refund, claiming that “our standards were too high.” Even after sending photos of the cockroaches, the host still refused. Booking.com was no help—they offered a laughable €13 credit for a ruined night. It was insulting.
To make matters worse, a few days later, we returned to the bungalow out of curiosity and found that someone else was already staying there—proving the host double-booked and profited off our situation instead of doing the right thing.
This entire situation could have been avoided if the host had simply responded and taken accountability. I highly recommend avoiding this property—and after...
Read moreIf I could I‘d give 0 Stars. This was the worst experience! After arriving like 10min in the apartment, we saw the first cockroach running under the bed. After that we informed the owner who Never replied. We went out to buy anti-cockroach spray at the supermarket at 8pm and went back to kill what we thought was 1 cockroach. When we came back we saw another one in the bathroom, and from then on we discovered another one every 5 minutes. After we killed 10, and another one was crawling on the door, we packed our things and left the property. It was not possible to spend the night there. Not just because of the dead roaches we had to kill but also of the toxins of the spray. Until then the owner didn’t respond to any messages or calls. We had to leave at 11pm to find a hotel that was open in this tiny town, fortunately we were lucky. We informed booking.com and told the owner we wanted a full refund since the infestation and we didn’t stay there at all. The owner refused until the end to refund us and refused to acknowledge the infestation. After, we went back and saw that he rented the apartment already even thought our stay was officially not ended. This is outrages and unacceptable that this person is still renting to people and allowed to be listed on booking.com! Booking.com acknowledged our complaint since they saw the photos but apparently they can’t do anything if the owner refuses to refund. So also they are no insurance for cases like that. Don’t stay there...
Read moreThe flat is quiet and very close to the beach and to a great taverna. I can't say it was spotted clean, but acceptable. The furniture and the general condition of the flat are old, but we were there only for sleeping, we didn't need anything else. The shower is open in the bathroom, which wouldn't be an issue per se, if only the water was draining better. We saw a cockroach and a mantis in the flat, but that's because the surroundings are wild. I would fill some of the gaps in the wall though and under the doors, so at least they cannot come in. Overall an...
