!!!Avoid at all costs – Worst hotel experience ever!!! We stayed at Ivory Hotel (Theologos, Rhodos) in July 2025 and had one of the most unprofessional and stressful hotel experiences we’ve ever encountered. Here's a breakdown of everything that went wrong – I’m writing this to warn other travelers not to book here. Reservation disaster from day one We arrived at the hotel with a confirmed voucher from our travel agency, only to be told by hotel staff that there was no reservation under our name. Despite having a confirmation number and prior agency validation, the hotel had clearly overbooked, as we later discovered happened to other tourists as well (including some who booked via Booking.com). Nobody at reception could explain anything. In fact, the receptionist wasn’t even there when we arrived – instead, an elderly maintenance man showed up, made some phone calls, and told us we’d be moved to another hotel for one night. No apologies, no explanation. We were driven in an old, sketchy, barely functioning car (speedometer and tachometer broken, felt 35+ years old) to another hotel, where we were told that whether we could return to Ivory Hotel “depended on the other hotel's owner.” We were left completely confused and anxious, having no idea where we’d be staying for the rest of our vacation – despite having paid for and confirmed our stay in advance. Zero professionalism and communication The next day, we were told by the agency that someone from Ivory Hotel would pick us up at 12:30 PM. We waited in 38°C direct sun for over an hour, unable to get in touch with either the local representative or the hotel. When someone finally came, it was the elusive receptionist who just told us it wasn’t her fault and that “she works at another place too.” No apology again. Just shrugged it off. Severely understaffed & filthy rooms The hotel is obviously understaffed. Two overwhelmed cleaning ladies, one elderly man who irons towels until 11 PM, and a receptionist who works multiple jobs and is rarely at the front desk. Phones were often left unanswered, and we could barely get help with anything. When we were finally given a room (not the one we booked), we were told we’d be moved again in two days because our actual room "wasn't clean yet." Only after protesting, we were finally given the correct room. The room, however, was a nightmare: • Dirty sheets and stained blanket • Disgusting bathroom • AC leaking water all over the balcony • Entrance door so thin and flimsy we were scared someone could literally blow it open
Cleaning service? Non-existent We asked them to at least clean the room, change towels, and take out the trash. The receptionist said the cleaning ladies were “too busy.” By evening, nothing had been done. We had to leave the trash out in the hallway and grab our own towels from a shelf outside. Absolutely unacceptable. Shady pricing practices We also rented a car through the hotel. A sign at reception clearly said €40 per day, but we were charged €50 for one day. No explanation. Prices are clearly made up depending on who you ask. Completely misleading photos The online photos look nothing like the reality. The rooms are run-down, old, and poorly maintained. It feels like the hotel is on the verge of collapsing both structurally and administratively. Final verdict: DO NOT STAY HERE • No respect for confirmed bookings • Overbooking without explanation • Unsafe conditions and poor hygiene • Unprofessional and absent staff • Horrible communication and misleading advertising
We strongly urge you to stay away from Ivory Hotel. It is a disgrace to tourism in Rhodos, and it ruined what should have been a relaxing holiday. You've...
Read moreWe've stayed here for a little over a week. Honestly, we chose this place because of the price, but we stayed for the great experience.
I got to get a coffee every morning, then hit the pool and after a (self made!) breakfast, we set off to explore the island. The hotel is next to a bus stop, so if you don't drive, this is the place to choose! Coming back, we have always visited the closest supermarket, which is just across the street.
So much for the services outside of the hotel (the beach is 10 minutes away, which is lovely)
The hotel is currently (2024) under a reconstruction, so there's no breakfast or kitchen opened yet, but let me tell you something - every morning the owner watched over his guests, was very kind and accommodating and felt like somebody you want to stick around. Last day he even offered to drive us to the aerodrom, but we refused, because we were stupid.
Janis, who watched over the hotel most of the time, was always helpful and with him around, I felt like nothing could ruin our vacation.
Oh, and the room. Approx 20 m2 of space, little kitchenette, balcony and a working AC. The only thing left was a Zeppelin that could take us to Turkey for a visit, but that one was unfortunately broken, so we stayed withing the borders of the island.
I do recommend the hotel as it was a calm place in the middle of olive trees, where we found peace and shelter, privacy and enough accomodation for a young duo to make do.
We didn't get clean bedsheets or our thrash taken out by the staff. We wouldn't expect it for the price but if you ask for it, you get the service without any problem.
Our vacation wouldn't be as enjoyable if we stayed anywhere else, I wholeheartedly recommend Ivory...
Read moreSuper nice, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are self catering and spacious. Situated just far enough from Rhodes town to be nice and quiet. Situated between fields of Olive and Fruit orchards. 15min walk to Theologos Beach. Very safe area to just stroll and walk and relax. Bus stop right outside hotel and very convenient to get to Rhodes and Old Town within an hour. Bus leaves every hour on the hour (schedule on Google) Bus route via airport which is very convenient. Well stocked grocery store opposite Hotel and inexpensive local restaurants in Drosia, the little town 5min walk. Or take the dirt road to Soroni, a 45min 3km walk through 100’s of year’s old Olive trees. This is one of those hidden gem’s. If you want a break, be on an amazing Island but don’t want to be in the Touristy hustle and bustle, this is the Hotel to use. We stayed there for 2 months and got to know the staff very well. They always go out of their way to help, even arrange car rental at cheaper rates. Super duper fast wifi internet! Look at that pool.. its amazing!! Go to the Yanis Store.. ask mr Yanis about his Raki (moonshine), Ask George at the grocery store opposite the hotel about their gold medal Cold pressed Olive oil (Kallas). Best to take a drive and not a walk to The Valley of the Butterfly’s in summer. Rent a car and go explore the Island especially Lindos Beach, St Paul’s Bay, Faliraki, Anthony Quinn Bay, Old Town (especially at night) Ok, i love Rhodes and its people and the staff from Ivory Hotel. Michalles is just a deep down decent person and so is the rest of his staff. April and May is much cheaper in Rhodes.. everything become much more expensive towards October.. be warned. Have...
