Have now spent a holiday for 8 days at this hotel and there are really a lot of great features that this hotel has to offer.||||I start with just a few things that didn´t meet full satisfaction.||On the contrary to what the hotel writes everyone need to put towels on the syunbeds they want to use during the day. There is no other option If you want one. The first morning I was "late"(i e directly after breakfast) and didn’t “pre-book” and when asking the lifeguards about free sunbeds they wasn´t able to find any. When asking them to try to get a pair of beds for us they helped us with this immediately. Very thankful for that. The other mornings I did like everyone else: put towels on sunbeds not later than 9 o´clock.||The information when we did arrive could have been better, but on the other hand the reception could help us and were very helpful with all our needs. ||We had a 2 room apartment in Helios, the cheapest of all the different room options. The only thing we could see were the doors of the apartments opposite. Not very uplifting, but we really didn´t mind. There´s a lot of better options but you´ll see the pool area and the sea quite a lot anyway. The Room was satisfying enough, the AC was quiet and worked well, and the same with Wifi. You need to reconnect now and then but that’s OK.|||| Pool area near Helios perfect for families with children. Crowded at times yes but nice to have some slides. ||We had all inclusive all meals at Helios except one, due to an accident in the kitchen. The dinner we ate at Fino Restaurant & Grill were not satisfying at all. A lot the couses were missing, and the staff were very unprepared of the situation. Otherwise the buffet food were much better than we expected. Varied and well cooked. Great! The beer and white wine is allright, the rosé and red wine were awful really. Tasted them a few times, but .....no!||||Location is good. Just opposite is a grocery store, right outside there´s a busstop that take you to Rhodes Town in about 10 minutes for just 2 Euro. We used a car hire 1 km away, Kalithea Rent a car, Best prices, all included, The we booked were upgraded and delivered to the hotel at no extra cost. Splendid. ||The staff every where is brilliant, nice, smiling and makes your holiday even better.||||All in all it´s a lovely stay and were very satisfied. Would...
Read moreThis was our first trip to Rhodos. Having spent many holidays on Crete in the past years, we decided it was time to try something else. So we booked a stay here for a week.
A lot of steps had been taken due to COVID-19 still being widespread. All staff wore facemasks. You could not pick up food or drink yourself at the buffet. You told the staff what you wanted and they gave it to you. You were told to keep a certain distance to "strangers". Around the island, in shops an taxis/public transportation, you were required to wear facemasks as well.
The hotel was quite good. Clean room (ours was no. 1920) which had amble space and a fairly sized terrazzo. Small kitchen with large fridge/freezer was great for storing drinks we had purchased in the nearby supermarket (cheaper than the hotel one).
Food was fine too. We were always able to find something tasty in the buffet, lunch and breakfast. Pool areas were great too. Bars had okay selection of drinks. We had bought the all-inclusive package and you got a fair selection of cocktails to choose from.
Al staff were very helpful and pleasant. The location was fine in regards to the beach. It wasn't a very sandy beach, more like fine pebbles, but it was still great. Nearby where two very nice beach bars, which of course wasn't included in the hotel, but we visited them several times anyway (they had great cocktails too!) and it was nice to be close to them.
A fairly stocked and priced supermarket was just across the street from the hotel which was nice too. Transfer from the airport was about 25 minutes with bus which was great, since we've tried 3 hours transfers in the past and wanted to avoid that.
Rhodes town was about 10 minutes away with a cab ride that cost 8 euro. Old town was a great place to snoop around and enjoy.
The only real con to this hotel was location as in there were little to see or experience in the close vicinity. But apart from that, I can only...
Read moreWe spent a week at Sunwing kallithea with our two kids aged 1 and 3 during an extreme heat season.
We stayed in the Poseidon area which we enjoyed a lot. The room was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the Nespresso and sunrise view every morning. The cleaning of the room was done daily and it was okay. The age was visible a little bit on the toilet area but it was acceptable.
We had an all inclusive deal and we were happy to not take the all inclusive premium deal because the value would have not been worth the money. Costas is a nice place to go and get food from if you are in Poseidon but the menu is frankly interesting. Better to walk to the buffet restaurant which is not that far.
In general the buffet food itself was okay with some meals being particularly good on some days.
The snacks were often quite poor, especially in the fino restaurant. The service was better and much faster in the Helios pool bar.
While the rooms had proper AC, the common areas lacked it. It was very unpleasant to dine in the buffet restaurant or grab snacks in the pool bars. It was also very upsetting to see the staff working under +40C without AC and pulling very long days. It is not something I would like to support.
The beach while lovely has sunbeds explored by a private person. This person wears a hotel shirt but don't be surprised if you get asked money for the sunbeds.
During our stay the hotel was pumping dirty and smelly water to the beach near the Costas kitchen. This was happening very early in the morning and late evening. After my departure I got a confirmation by the blue flag association that the pipe was indeed leaking and and corrective action was taken by the hotel. Worth checking with the hotel if it has been indeed been fixed if you plan...
